  1. did that B75 come from Kevin All or is it a different one? few years ago he sold his off but never knew where it went. think it was upgraded with a 350 engine or something. he is always hotrodding something
  2. the Mack Museum didnt have build date. they gave me a parts manual and records with a few numbers for the hemi firetrucks and whereabouts to where they went but they only had info for about 10 out of 33 or so. the letter that came with it says they didnt keep records for the Navy trucks because they were probably bought in bulk and didnt really know which base they got sent to and never registered. also they didnt have build data because of the low production run. kinda a bumer. they didnt send a parts manual tho with every part ordered includin ladders, hose reel right down to the taillights but not an actual build sheet. and young Vinny yes she did take the pictures and I never sneak beer, didnt enough of that when i was a teenager and suzanne was behind the wheel turnin her over when it first fired, i was workin the squirt can on the carb til it pumped some gas up. think we decided to name the truck ''Somer'' cause we bought it in Somerset Pa. my grandfather, aka the master mechanic under the hood has a few other names for it tho i think haha. he started out with a little b model collection, 3-4 of them. think i have his collection up to around 12 B models and an R model haha
  3. good luck with that one Vinny. id kill for a pair of those 70's block letter mudflaps or a pair of bicentennial red white and blue ones like the Duck had
  4. wonderful, flurrying here all morning. probably battery acid salty mix on the road by the afternoon to rot everything away haha
  5. more than likely disconnected because its defective or shorted out... may need to put a whole new heater element in the block.
  6. ah 237 sooooommmmeeeday maybe my B613 will have one of those under the hood haha
  7. god id like to come across one of those. was already thinkin of how to make one. also would like to find a nice set of bubbleback Mack mirrors and the correct brackets to fit the cut off doors. kinda breaks my heart to think of how many good firetrucks have been turned into single axle tractors and probably the doors with the good mirror brackets scrapped along with most of the pumper stuff and gauges.
  8. yup, just ordered a carb kit for it from the Carburator Doctor dot com. 55 bucks, seemed fair. been lookin for the Hemi spark plug wires online thru Taylor and a few others. evidentally the wires must have a gold core in them as they are anywhere from 110 to 185 bucks a set. this truck also has the long covers about an inch and half wide over the plug holes in the valve cover so im wonderin if i need the wire set for a Hemi that has the rubber sealin grommet to seal the ''milk tubes'' that go thru the valve cover or just the ones with the long plug wire end on them .
  9. most Mack garage activities require a brown bottle haha.
  10. yea, hemi, with a spicer transmission and a timken rear end i believe.i have a parts book but its pretty generic and doesnt actually put specific models in it.
  11. beats me actually think its a Spicer. we got it runnin wed night, ran good for few min then died, needs carb cleaned and a new set of plug wires, for a hemi which are expensive. tryin to upload a video but cant figure out how yet
  12. in the hanger doin a little tinkering, tryin to get some spark.
  13. few more pictures. pressure washin all the mold and junk off.
  14. only 237 i ever seen with the tip turbine filter on it. interior is pretty ratty. door handles upside down, missin, some nasty carpet in it, smashed up dash, quickie frame paint job..
  15. agree, not too many B models can go in the same sentence as SPEED. i can attest to this haha. mine will do 75-80 with 1124.5's and 4.00 gears and a triplex. pullin 20 thousand pounds is a little different haha. anyone know what engine is in the yellow B with the flames? looks to be a Mack with a modified intake tube thats flat and square.
  16. 300+ still inside? hood scoop?? or the sissy two inlet air cleaner?? haha
  17. bet thats a rare breed of emblem to run across. this one looks to never had any emblems on the hood. also pics from the factory and in the Mack B model firetruck book show no hood emblems. kinda odd since Mack made up emblems for every other little thing , B422, B421, B615, etc.
  18. looks like its has a few similarities to vinny's U model, like that RARE forward tilting fifth wheel option.....
  19. what engine was in a B405 and 505? jw. also while were talkin about it i notice my B475 never had any b models emblems on the hood but i believe Mack made a regular B47 model. wonder why they didnt put an emblem on the hood? they just fulled the two holes with small phillips screws.
  20. yup, might have to change the frame cab mounts if you use a 73 and newer cab as they went to the trunion mount instead of the buscuit mount. other than that not much changed other than the hood used rollers to rest on when they had air ride so it would move. might be other little obstacles but not much major.
  21. yup, quite a sight, as a few of those newer trucks pass u at 65+ going uphill when you are going 35 haha then everytime we stopped for fuel we got a crowd (i tried to fueled up as much as possible as fuel in Pa is at least 50 cents cheaper a gallon than NY ) and a few glances from people and older truck drivers on the highway as they looked over and gave the ''holy shit its B model haulin a B model'' look.
  22. i cant believe im gettin a spellin' and grammar lesson from a 13 yr old.... haha
  23. yup, remember that truck when it was yellow. Doug has Mike deliver me a B43 with it a few years ago that was terribly rotted but i stripped out and out the engine and tranny in a good solid double frame single axle B42 we have. thats why im searchin for B43 emblems.
  24. your math is good but yor comprehension needs a little work young vinny lol. i was splainin to Otherdog that i took my pickup along for the ride also with a buncha extras, JUST in case. or if we ended up with my Mack inpounded in western pa, i wouldnt have to hitchhike my ass home
  25. doll it up and take it to shows! steel nose R models and Dm;s are about extinct up here in Ny. sucks as there use to be tons runnin around a few years ago. think the exporters got most of them. been watchin a Superdog for a few years sit by this small equipment place. had a 6 cyl and a air ride cab but the cab was rotted badly, went by the other day and found out he sold it to an exporter for about 8 grand. makes you sick the prices these people will pay for a worn out truck that needs a replacement cab. you drive by 100 times, say youll stop and one days its gone.
