  1. wow, im confused myself haha. tip turbin, intercooler, air to air, half water, half whatever wow. i know the early 711's had head gasket issues with the old copper gasket. some of the newer ones i have seen have the newer thin gasket and firerings the the 237's. my END707 had the thinner gaskets and the firerings on the deck. its a 1977 engine block in my b613. i know its an oddball engine and everytime u mention it someones says a 707 is a gas and i say, nope, its a diesel. runs different to, think the operating range is 11 or 1200 to 1800. you can run it yo 2100 but it doesnt shift as good.
  2. not yet. sent him a message and was gonna call him but forgot haha. Phildirt contacted my about movin it but have not heard back from him. called twice, no answer and no message back.
  3. desperately needin a firetruck moved from Somerset Pa to upstate Ny. could pick up near Binghamton Ny to save mileage on someone. its a 7 hour trip one way. im seriously thinkin about takin my B model down with a friends trailer and pickin it up. anyone think this is a really bad idea? i know the truck will make it and trailer. just wonderin what problems id run into with the county mounties.
  4. dual Pyrometers?? does this U model have a twin turbo 864 in it?
  5. B422 would have a 438 overhead valve gas engine, they were a baby to the 540 and a 464 and were a really good engine. the flathead 401 in a standard B42 on the other hand is a piece of junk. if the body is good and it runs and has the overhead valve engine is a good fine. the weight of that truck would be around 9000 - 10,000. a single axle B61 weighs in a little more but the B42 or B422 is light so you should have no problems loadin it on that truck even with the dumpbox frame.
  6. most B62's had 1100 22's or 10.00 22's on them originally. never seen any with 10.00 20's on them, im sure they made them tho but in our upstate ny area in the 50's most of the old timers liked big rubber.you can change over to 1100 24.5 or 12.00 24.5 and run radials cause 10.00 22's are about impossible to find just remember to use the right spacer and new rims. most guys will put wider tires on and use same spacer and the tires are too close when loaded. have also seen guys run 4'' spacers on a Mack and nost use the shorter wheel wedges and they dont tighten right. most Macks i have seen run a 3 5/8 spacers. C and E trucking was an oddball tho, they ran all 9.00 20's on their B 61's and B63's or B sickley ones as most of the drivers called them cause they were beat in the ground. the reason for the 9.00's, no one would steal them....
  7. i dunno, i know its taboo but id like a Detroit someday. probably would have to be in a 360 series Brockway tho.
  8. true, forgot about that myself! had 237 on the brain.
  9. could be just as simple as a head gasket but if its leakin while sittin sounds like a liner. 711 parts are extinct. saw piston and sleeve sets sellin at the Sears oil action for $250 a hole and that was over my budget. id look for a 237 or 250 turbo and give me that old bullet haha
  10. i never mind someone opening my doors and lookin at my truck or askin a million questions. some asshole did manage to run their watch band down from my grab handle at Springfield tho and pissed me off but i drive it. its bound to get nicks, scratched and the occasional bondo blister. its hard to stop rust no matter how hard u try and fix it.
  11. nice for all of us that could not go. the pearl white Magnum Superdog is pretty sweet. looked it over head to toe in Macungie. whats the deal on the second to last pic? looks like an Lj with homebuilt fenders and a B75 radiator.
  12. nice retrofit as i dont think they ever made a B615 emblem. id like to make a B 613 emblem for mine, but a B75 and B61 emblem are easier to find than a B63 or B73 to chop
  13. might go take a look at the B model half pickup cobjob. could always use some extra sheet metal parts and its only two hours away. have not heard from the junkyard guy so i assume he doesnt wanna sell anything or just thinks im a tire kicker.
  14. looks to have an Able body double stack cut sleeper, wide Canada spread camelbacks and a 300+ under the hood judging from the two air cleaner tubes.
  15. looks like she has a little toe in problem.......
  16. nope, remember takin so e pics about 8-10 years ago, back when it wasnt a federal crime to grab a six pack and ride around the backroads.now the damn sheriffs and troopers ride around the back roads to all THEIR old party spots and find the poor bastard that has had 2 or 3 drinks. thats how i found those trucks in the first place.
  17. the Red one from the oneonta craigslist is a local truck to me. use to be around Ft Plain Ny. guy use to have about 10-15 Macks. all heavy spec, R models, DM's and a U model or two and one heavy black B81SX. use to be right up the road then they all dissappeared. the B81 was on craigslist a while back but i think they scrapped a few to and the guy went out of business. All were heavy spec short trucks with plow frames at one time and all had heavy price tags on them. one of those he wants this much for it and settles for half what he wants from the junk man.
  18. havent seen one of those in a while. have a few layin around for the early B model dash tho
  19. the pictures of that truck are most definately at a junkyard/recycling center and i assume would be used to dump trailers of aluminum or something along those lines with a trailer that didnt have a live floor in them
  20. ok i know Mack never offered THAT many B models with buds. where the heck are all you guys findin the front axles or is everyone changing them out with later model ones? i know the FA505 is common but no where are you findin a bud set of wheels for a FA517 or FF522 or larger like mine. im just curious. im a diehard spoke wheel guy myself but if the truck has buds, i prefer them to be steel buds. guess im not much for aluminum wheels on a B model.
  21. yea, called him, twice, left a message, probably thinks im a tire kicker. probably way out of my budget but i believe the new owner is not the same guy who drove it to the convention.truck has nor ran or even moved in many many years. never had a fifth wheel on it and only has the capstand winch which makes me believe it was used in some shipyard to move barges around. the LMU i guess you call it is different from the picture but only as far as the bumper. it does have the tip out windows but this truck had the V in the middle of the bumper to clear the crank hole in the grille.
  22. dodgeman, the trailer is a really early hydraulic detach gooseneck i think. it started with an S, the name, something id never heard of before. Spaten or something? didnt look it over too well, its been sittin there a while and is currently the resting place for about 500 windshields that they have taken out of the junk cars over the years. if it was a hardnose Fruehauf or fontaine single axle, id be all over it as they seem to be scarce with the price of scrap going up. was at an auction few weeks ago where a solid nose 1960 Rogers tandem axle that needed a complete restoration, new wood, tires, brakes, sandblastin and lights and didnt have any ramps, i walked away when the price got over $1700.
  23. the truck in the junkyard i saw had the V in the middle of the bumper like the Ch's and the EB's in the Mack books i have seen. its hard to tell them apart as Mike said between the LMU and CH and Cj and EB. the only difference i see is the grille is longer on some and the bumpers are V's in the middle . this one also has a newer overhead valve engine in it to that i think someone replaced the original flathead with. i called the guy twice today, got voicemail, left a message. waitin for a call back. im for sure on one thing, he knows what he has and no one is gonna walk in and steal these gems and make a killin on them. i made sure in my message i told him i was a collector and tryin to save them. prolly wont make a difference. im tryin to figure a price on the FH. anyone have an estimate? if he is way out of line on it im at least gonna try to save the little cabover.
  24. have any idea how to tell what that cabover is Mike?? from all the Mack books i have its either a early CH or a EB cabover? dunno how to tell the difference. it has tip out windshields and they have been open forever and top of dash is rotten but can be saved. had an overheard valve gas engine which i dont think is original. also anyone have any idea what that FH would have had for an original engine?? looks to be an EN510 with finned exhaust manifold and dual ignition now.
