  1. pretty sweet truck . i looked her all over at Macungie. interior is original, never been molested, sheet metal is excellent, needed a little frame lovin. pretty odd to see a big gas job survivor. most were blown up and parked in the back row and forgot about then junked.
  2. yup, front axle is correct, i was just sayin its old cause it has the B model style front axle. think they did away with that around 1970 or so. your right a 609 would have a 711 in it and most likely a 9 speed overgrear. my R609 had a 711 and 10 speed in it originally. on a side note what ever happened to our thread about the oldest B R U L where we all put in out Vin numbers. not that any of us poor bastard probably bought much lately but i think we need that refreshed every once in a while.
  3. maybe not tightening the wheel up all the way and was allowed to move around.
  4. yup, two bolts and washer pump and the rubbers prolly around $150 at Mack. Drove the DM around work the other day and could not figure out the damn racket. got out, looked under and the rubber is completely gone, cab is rockin up and down haha.
  5. yup, definately had the rope tied too to the steering wheel and probable out the windows to the mirror brackets, thats how everyone use to tow them years ago. looks like a late 60's. has the b model style 505 front axle. probably had a 673 and its spent thats why its sittin there. actually looks like a nice project with a little pressure washer work and probably a new bullett and maybe a fuel tank strap, or ratche strap.
  6. pretty sure he means a 4 speed auxillary NOT a quadbox. 5 speed auto with a 4 speed auxillary woud be common and would probably work for him as long as he had the right one.
  7. so whats happening with Mike? if hes at strong memorial it must be pretty serious
  8. i see you have the old style 50's mirror brackets that wrap around the front of the door. are original or did u find a new pair?
  9. i dunno. seems like it would look good with a green front end sheet metal and red hubs. of course im partial to red and green and black
  10. a single reduction rear will accept a double reduction hogs head. it will bolt right up, but the inside of the housing will not have enough ''meat'' for the bearing caps to rest against. the bearing caps on both side are meant to rest against the inside of the flange on the housing and a single reduction housing was not built up enough for the bearing caps to rest against . it may work for a hobby truck but if you were to pull a heavy load with it and it was allowed to flex inside you would have trouble.
  11. Mr Doug Fetterly always used coffee cans on his stacks. i remember him last summer sayin ''they are a bitch to put on sometimes but really easy to get off''. he has a long stick to put them on i believe,.
  12. nice pics. that white and red B77 was pictured in showtime i think years ago.., has the dealers name on a metal plaque below the bulldog on the hood,
  13. should have a wedge both sides no matter what actually to keep things straight. usually a second wedge is added for camber adjustment
  14. you take take the head and intake and exhaust all off at once and set it on the floor. then clean and put new gaskets on the deck. id use new studs if they are available. adjusting the valves isnt that hard either and it will probably run better after. my END707 skipped when we got it but was a recent rebuild. then the back head gasket started leaking, pulled the heads one by one, replaced the gasket and found a push rod was bent. readjusted the valves and it ran 100% better than before. mine has the maxidyne thin head gaskets on it with the fire rings tho, not the old style copper gaskets like most of the 673's and older 711's.
  15. that B70 with the extended shell was at the Syracuse National show in 2003 the Eidemiler trucks are pristine and i kinda like the dark bluemetallic on that one b model.
  16. nope, they are rarearound these parts. just wanted to see H67Macks, C607
  17. omg, what an mutt. anyone notice it had an International set of shutters, front axle, bumper and rear end??? and a GMC engine? wtf happened to that poor thing. more like a 56 than a 66 to.
  18. agreed, some pics of the C607. im a C model fan. might acquire one someday..
  19. ok so heres a question. what should the color and number be on the 300+? mine looks to have been rebuilt one time with a 237 block? cause the number on the timing cover says ENDTB675 but the metal stamped tag on the side behind the pump says ETAZ673T ?. never paid much attention as ive only been around 673's and 237's so i dont know what the block stamping number should be on the front. didnt know if they are all stamped as 675 blocks? the bell housin and block look to have been gold at one time and painted over with black and i know the engine was a fresh rebuilt before they scrapped the truck. usually rebuilders paint everything black or machinery gray.
  20. think that red R model is one of Tackaberry's truck Vinny. think he had it out to Springfield and Macungie. i remember the stretched out camelbacks. i thought to moonfire truck probably had a endt673B or C in it. on another note, anyone know what happened to the Moonfire Mack? think it might have needed the quadbox in it after filming was done or at least take the plug out of the passenger side of the case and clean the teeth out of the rockbox. the FL700 in the movie also had a quadbox in it and had a 6 cylinder Mack with chrome valve covers
  21. ok so what engine was in the Moonfire Mack? they say it was a RL712LST? had chrome valve covers and the chrome hubs and circus painted rims. definately had a quadbox in it and Charles Napier pounded the shit out of it. unless that was just dubbed in for the movie.
  22. hate to break vinnys heart but the U model i think is actually a shortened DM. you can tell by the stout front bumper and the DM style fuel tank. i guess it could have been a heavy spec U model tho. never know
  23. the 300+ wasnt a maxidyne? got me all confused now. all the ones i have seen were gold to.. . i have always liked the looks of these trucks myself
  24. boy is that a tough ass lookin RD with a hood scoop and the angled bumper. always liked the angled bumpers on the RD's and the Superdogs, just made them look tougher.
  25. wow, really slow. gonna have to get in the 4's to get some speed. even back in the day with a 10 speed direct the most common gear with 22'' rubber i think was 4.62
