  1. i just bought the Mopar B Mack firetruck from evilbay. im strapped myself now. acquired three b models and a fruehauf trailer within the last year. i gotta cool it haha.
  2. nice. i see you have a 67 series transmission. that would make it a true B43 now. is that an 8000 series brownie box or a 6000 series? my B613 had a straight 5, 77 series with a 6200 series brownie 3 way. it was used for spreadin liquid asphalt so that way they would make it creep or go fast with overdrive. Keith from this site bought the brownie off me a few years ago for his R400.. have not hear much from him lately tho. what did he end up doin the the frame motor mounts? have 1/4 inche machined off? just wondering.. the number i have for the front engine mount donut out of the tidewater Mack catalog is 20QL242. this might be superceeded by a newer number but i know i bought two of them in the past two years ao they were still available.
  3. id get the sawsall out vinny and cut it back about 6 inches from the front and make one of those Mack wall hangers out of that. its already my favorite shade...
  4. id kill for one of those white r model steering wheels......
  5. yup, thats right in my village, Longhorn trucking. guy rolled it last week, something happened with the trailer. guy has worked for them for 10 years and got fired after this. could have happened to a bigger piece of shit truck. truck has been at Albany Mack more than it has been on the road. they had so many problems with it that Mack sent them a new CH up to use as a back up tractor.
  6. the round donut that goes around the timing cover and into the hanger can still be bought from Mack. usually around 10 bucks. if you need i can find the part number somewhere.
  7. its easier when your not driving! i usually try to tell my fiance' to take a picture when were driving. to which i get the reply,'' what truck? whats Mack? i didnt see any Mack''
  8. hey i want one!
  9. by the looks of that blister on the sleeper and the bottom of the doors, its most likely like most f models, a rot wagon
  10. gonna run into the same problem the rest of us have young vinster. we wanna save EVERY one of them but were all poor bastards
  11. speaking of outlaw Fetterly, here is a pic of his old R700 from the springfield Mass show
  12. yup, looks like it has a 711 in it with the lubrifiner up high. hard to get paint to stick to something thats been burned tho. tried paintin a dump box that had been burned, they paint would just not stay on it. maybe with some etchin primer and sandblasting it might help
  13. yea it been pictured here before or somewhere. pretty nice job but not my style.looks like a vision and b model got thrown up together then someone added rv mirrors to it.
  14. id take both frame mounts to a machine shop and have them take 1/4 off the bolt surface . ive done this opposite and cut the inner frame section out of the double frame to put double frame hangers in a single frame truck. i cut it long enough so i got to bolt thru thr front rear spring hanger bracket holes and the front fuel tank holes on both side. probably not needed but made it a little firmer. also check the bolts. early b models didnt use the step up or collar bolts for the hangers and the newer ones did. easy way to tell is look at the bolt. the shank of the flat spot of the bolt will be noticeably higher than the threads. you can drill the holes and hangers out to fit the step up bolts but you dont wanna just put regular 5/8 bolts in the holes if they are drilled for the step up bolts. i think they started around 58 or 59 usin the step up collar bolts and big thick flat washers. eventually all the spring hanger and motor mount holes were drilled bigger and used these style bolts.
  15. if your little truck cant handle the load, ill swing by and we can offload those differentials and backin plates onto mine..... haha
  16. usually the fan pulls the salt spray thru in our great northern rustbelt. seen many of B models with those filters rotted out along with the valve covers.
  17. in the 50's they made a 20 speed direct so not ALL quadboxes are overdrive. the early ones were direct in 5th and slow. a single overdrive was a TRQ7210 i believe and a double was a TRQ7220. it wasnt a zero, its an O for overdrive. 7210 is 1 over, 7220 is 2 over. could all this means nothing til you drive it. driven quite a few 10 speed direct mack transmissions that people have swapped gears and back boxes and you just knew it was an overdrive something or other. some shift fine and other wouldnt not split right because of 5th gear. this was probably due to the boss yellin at the mechanic going ,'' i dont give a shit, make it work somehow, that truck has to be out of here tomorrow!''
  18. nah, gots a few tandems in the pasture to but im not about to cut someone on parts. i was second in line if you didnt want them tho. rudy is a good guy to deal with. the triplex is a double overdrive 13 speed and with those 4.17 gears that old B must have flew enough to scare you.
  19. i have been thinkin of doin that for years but using junkier B model parts and usin the shell, headlight panels and two junky fender fronts, then takin the shell and puttin brackets in the sides to put shelves across to put diecast trucks on then puttin it on the wall and painting a 3d windshield and top of cab on the wall and hookin a 12 ac dc adapter to it so the headlights will work. givin this some thought just havent got to it haha
  20. must be a low miler cab. i doubt anyone cleaned it that good. someone took care of it, once they age, they get cracked, greasy and torn. those door panels as well as the dash looks brand new and im at a loss at the beige high back bulldog driverseat... never seen one myself.
  21. i have even seen some of the new longer style grab handles with two holes on top that mounted to the old style B model style holes and it had two dud bolts screwed in to fill the other bottom holes and a single bolt in the bottom of the long grab handle. weird, but Mack did some weird stuff. Maybe they had the handles made special to use up some old style cab backs?
  22. so they used the newer grab handles but the short cab? never knew that. i have seen a few R models that were drilled for both actually tho.
  23. god that yellow one is clean. dont think i have ever seen a beige interior that clean.
  24. gave you room to move the seat back for us beer gut guys........ i never knew the U mode never got the plus 3 cab. so the U models used the B model style grab handles throughout production?
  25. are those your Mack workin shorts Vinster?? haha. ive been on vacation,no Mack workin for me., flew to sarasota fla, then drove to new orleans, stayed there a few days, then drove to memphis to see graceland, stayed there few days then drove back to fla. not on damn classic Mack in 2400 miles of traveling. did see a 360 brock in georgia but didnt get a camera soon enough. spotted 2 r models still on the road in tennessee and a bunch of Ch's haulin dump trailers in my travels, no B models, no nothing . drivin from new orleans to memphis up rt 55 it was 105 degrees all of monday. its been freakin hot! goin back to Ny tomorrow tho. cant stand the fla heat much more either, there no break from it.
