  1. was there a certain year they swtiched from the bendix dual air horn on the r models to the single bugle? or was either an option like the b models? was also wonderin when the door dog started and ended? also when did they swtich from the channel iron bumper on the older r models to the flat ones? some 60's r models also had the channel iron one with flat diamond plate on top also. kinda like a little extended bumper. seen alot of variations, like the tow loops that were cast into the front spring hanger and other had different hangers with regular tow hooks and holes in bumper for them.   2. maybe that single axle was Re-cabbed backwards and someone put a steel dash on a 78? haha. i have seen it done. also saw a nice all orange Dm with a steel box on it today with a black insert in the hood and i know it was newer but had the old small letters on the front. gonna try to get a pic of it tomorrow. its workin in town, they are tearing all the old cobblestones out of downtown and there is the old DM with steel box workin. god forbid those Peterworth guys put any broken concrete or cobblestones in their shiny trucks haha Matt
  3. im lookin for some aluminum rear spring hangers for a B61LT Mack if you come across any. would take the front rears or rear rears or both.

  5. my cousin bought a few old Dm600's one with a 237 and 18 speed quad and the other with a 864v8 and quad from a logger like 10 years ago. the guy wanted 1000 for them. my cousin goes ok ill take the one with the 236 for $500. he goes nope, $1000 for one or $1000 for two, you pick. we put the 237 in his B model and Doug Fetterly ended up with the 864. freakin things had no doors left on them, or fenders left on the hood or floorboards left in themno windshields,. inside and top of cabs were solid grease from the log loaders and no brake or throttle pedals. you had to drive them with the hand throttle on the dash. some people!
  6. yea i recall Doug the outlaw Fetterly having a registration sticker from his 65 B on a 70 something R model tractor last time i was up there course i have been known to swtich a few plates in my day. bought an old 53 Fruehauf flatbe trailer last fall and brought it home with two barely inflated tires and the plate off my snowmobile trailer on it with no air lines to the back and no lights whatsoever. haha

  8. it amazes me how many of those old western log trucks arent all beat to shit. god some of the woodchucks here in upstate ny would take that think in the woods and it wouldnt come out with a straight piece on it. amazes me better care they took of those old trucks and they are still around. and where they hell did they find 18 5 hole alcoa wheels for that thing? haha. they are worth more than the truck.Matt
  9. i thought that was the easiest way to drive an old b or r that wasnt registered? just change the door tag and plates and your ready to roll haha. my grandfather said back in the day they would take the plates off some of the dumptrucks in the winter and just run the tractors haulin coal. if they needed a dumptruck they would just switch the plates. he goes sometimes it would take halfway thru the summer to get all the plates back on the right truck again. was good when they ran all green b models. little tricky when they had a few diamond junk reos and fords mixed in the fleet hahaalso seen some old pics of pretty new dumptrucks sittin in the winter in the snow with no tires on them. times were tough back then. they would take the new tires off for the tractors for the winter driving as they didnt need the dumptrucks unless they were haulin logs.   10. downtown Albany Ny i believe on rt 32/Broadway going north there is a building still painted with Brockway trucks on the side and its about a block or two down from the original Mack trucks dealership. the building still had the M and T engraved in the cement way up high. will have to get some pictures next time im down that way.   13. downtown Loweville vinny? seems like they been workin on that forever! use to be able to take a left at the Y where Mcdonalds is and head a few miles up twards Martinsburg and they had a bunch of steel nosed RD600 single axle plow trucks that were mint. think they auctioned them off and replaced them over the years. they also use to have a tandem axle B68 that they repowered with a diesel. had a brand new 'Roller' Cresci dump box, the Jersey guys know this box, made in Vineland. was a badass box back in the day. anyways this truck was mint. we bid on it about 15 years ago, think it ended up going for about $8000. was always garaged. use to be quite a few macks workin up that way 10-15 years ago.   14. looks more like a 67 or so, small letters on the hood, old stlye oil bath air cleaner and fuel tanks and looks like the narrower front axle to me.doubt its a 685 either, probably more like a R607 or 609 with a 711. could have a 237 tho, looks like one shifter, Matt

  17. last i knew Lund was out of business and sold out to Auto Vent Shade company who makes all the visors and bug deflectors and ventshades for cars and trucks. Matt

  19. are there any U model Manuals? is there any serial numbers on the manuals rob?
  20. you seen that mostly with the tachographs in the early steel dash r moels. my grandfathers R400's had the tachographs and the guages off to the center in the panel.

B613T but it was a retrofit. no B models ever came from the factory with a 413 Chrysler, only the R models did. tight fit in a B model unless you put it in a B20 or B30 or B42 with the small steering box. The manifold hits the big steering box. someone machine the adapter plate down on mine and notched the top flange of the frame to move the steering box over to the left an inch to clear the manifold. probably if you used headers youd be able to avoid this.

U models were available in '64 and R models started in '65. my grandfather had three '65 R402's with 402 flathead continenals and 10 speed ''mud stick'' overgears and one R410 with a 413 Chrysler industrial and an 18 speed baby quadbox. Chrysler would outpull a lot of trucks on the road especially with the doble overquad but you needed stock in exxon to keep fuel to it. still have the 413 out of my B model, was thinkin of puttin it back in anothe B model with a quadbox and a set of headers and dual exhaust!   24. i bought a pair a few years ago off ebay. not sure if they are original or repops, they have the little r next to the Mack but the whole logo looks smaller. might be legit. on a similar note, anyone have a pair of the Mack Bicentennial mudflaps with red, white and blue colors like the Duck had on his R700 in Convoy? would like to get agold of a pair of those. thanks, Matt
