  1. dont really know, has whatever was in it when i got it. was gonna run it and get it hot and drain it and change it for the big 2 hr drive to springfield.oil looked pretty clean when i took the covers off so i figured id drive it and get it hot and change it anyways tho. Matt
  2. yup, greased everything. took the linkage and side auxillary plate with the rails right off the side of the tranny and cleaned all the gunk out of the rails in the parts washer, greased both rails up then put rails back in the tower and bolted it back to the tranny and greased everything. just seems really stiff when cold but seems to losen up when its hot. was just wonderin if i screwed something up when i put the back cover back on but the fork went right in the slide and cover went right back on so i dont think i did. Matt
  3. guess its pretty normal then? was just wonderin. after it warms up its sweet. driven a few quadboxes that were loose from the get go shfifting but were also loose all the way around! sounded like someone dropped a can of bolts in a few haha. had the back cover off and was just wonderin if i could have screwed something up and not gotten the fork back in right but it shifts like butter after you drive it a little bit. Matt
  4. As you all know over the winter i changed the duplex transmission with a triplex in my B613T. took it for a ride and its one of the smoothest shifting transmissions ive ever drove in a Mack and also has absolutely NO bearing noise which i thought was a factory option in a B model. only problem is the auxillary shifting lever is very stiff, like you almost have to force it out of gear then it will float right into the next. as you drive it and it gets warmer it gets better . was gonna warm it up and drain the fluid as it has the old gear oil in it that it came with.before i put it in i took both the front and back covers off and the taddle tale plug out of the rockbox/tooth catcher on the side and found a tooth and believe it or not a valve keeper from an old engine rebuilt i guess someone lost it when the shifting lever was off? looked at all gears and none of the teeth were missing anywhere so i imagine the tooth is from a damaged and replaced gear years ago and they never got the tooth out. just wonderin, any thoughts on why it seems so hard to shift and get out of gear on the auxillary? thanks, Matt
  5. ive seen them both ways and seen number ones with both 3/8 and 7/16 bolts in them . have also seen a # 2 transmission bellhousing on a trd72 transmission. i actually have one. Matt
  6. sounds like the original transmission is in the truck and someone put the scania to it. probably pretty slow with a direct tranny and gas rear end gears unless someone changed them. Matt
  7. got me all excited! thought i was gonna see a bunch of pics of Yaworski's end of the lind superpooch! havent seen that truck since it was brand new in macungie in 93
  8. yes the hub was the same distance from the bolt flange back twards the block on all of them but the later ones were longer twards the front to accept more belts. the wrap around underneith mount in the first pic is from a r model or dm which bolted to the flat crossmember. b models used an i beam mount that was under the front of the engine not in front. and yes the water pumps are different with longer shafts along with some had more spacer blocks between the oil cooler and water pump. Matt
  9. wow. why does all the cool stuff come around when im broke???
  10. seen a few 67 serious transmissions in B61's behind 673 and was confused also. i know they were in b60, B62's and B68's for weight but thought they were only behind the diesels in B43's and B47's. Matt
  11. Vinny isnt Doug's truck an H673T? or H633? something weird. im sure Superdog would know. i asked him about it one time when i was up there. didnt seem interested in ever parting with it haha .Matt
  12. the front hub on the crank is different from thermodyne's to maxidyne's. looks like you have an early single 3/4 inch belt pulley on the crank from 53 to around 58 or so on the thermodyne. after that they changed to to a two hald inch belt pulley on the crank and the newer maxidynes had a 3 , 1/2 inch belt pulleys and a longer snout on the crank. most guys put the old thermodyne crank hub to put a maxidyne in a B model. it had nothin to do with the front engine mount. Matt
  13. doug fetterly had a B61 with a backbreaker cab on it. it was yellow. sold it to Mike Malloy in ilion ny few years ago
  14. are they the ones that were built with all Dodge running gear? looks like a dodge budd hub rear end and front axle. Superdog would knowwould love to own a b firetruck project. Matt
  15. yup, they deliver up the street from me. was gonna snap a pic of their u model last week actually. Matt
  16. i think mine looks pretty good but too each their own. yes rust is an issue also and the lund ones needs some cutting and sanding around the top to get them to clear the marker lights. i think it depends on the truck also and the color of the truck. far as i know no one is sellin the aussie stainless type. Matt
  17. now vinny you SAY youve been in your room for days researchin U models, the rest of us know the real story of what a 12 yr old does for days in their room j.k haha. i always liked the badge style emblem on that U and some early R models. believe they were used mostly on the off highway trucks. i think Superdog/Mike mentioned a while back he had one. Matt
  18. 237? how in the hell did the old timers ever get by with a sick old 673 natural and you guys are contimplating over 5 and 600 horse? geesh haha Matt
  19. yup spotted that myself. that is one sweet old r model. we have about the twin to tat at work but was an old ryder rental truck with about 1.7 million miles on it. pedigred rebuilt engine and a sweet 9 speed rr. other than that the truck is junk haha. been rolled, windshield barely fits in cab, doors dont close, double frame is spread, hood has been fixed 5000 times but runs like a champ with dual straight pipes on the 300. Matt
  20. well said. i looked over the pictures myself. i dont see a every bolt turned restoration. i see a really nice shined up, cleaned up painted RED truck. we all know red sells. it appears to be well taken care of and shined up really nice but nowhere near a 100% show truck. its show quality, not a show truck. i hope he gets what hes askin but im not seein it and dont intend to offend anyone. yes Mack painted over the airlines but that was production. Mack did not paint over all the wiring tho. Matt
  21. think Matt went to california to get that bus? wonder why he is sellin it. also like the big single axle B61 he has for sale
  22. sent you two pms jamie. still have not heard anything... Matt
  23. yea tidewater was great to deal with and resonable. last from tidewater think we bought vent windows at $125 a piece . that was 1993 or so. i like what Barry has done for the hobby and keepin the parts he can available and this site but a lot of the prices are way out of hand. most of us 9-5 ers just cant afford or justify some of them.but then again with some of the expensive parts on our trucks, i guess that makes them worth more? Matt
  24. that B30 use to be my grandfathers. someone begged him to buy it to put a rollback on the lost interest, sat outside with carb off and went to shit. had a brand new rebuilt engine in it before he sold it. talked to the guy who owns it this past sept when i was buyin some B models in cobleskill. real piece of work. Mtt
  25. was on their site last nite and looked thru all the Mack pics myself. other than that i think the site sucks. hard on the eyes and eddy is not the moderato and everything was screwed up. couldnt even get it thru my favorites, had to manually search for it. same with the Brockway site lately. wont work thru favorites. real pain in the ass for us computer challenged people. Matt
