  1. did you double check and make sure it really is6 volt? or did someone hook the two original 6 volt batteries in series to make 12?
  2. probably one of those places that put a price on things based on attitude or how you look. remember a few years ago I went to look at a stripped R model fire truck. sat in this new tractor dealer for 10 min while I got ignore, finally owner asked if he could help me, I said I wanted to know if I could look at the old Mack. he looks and goes ''go ahead but you can afford it'' (I was in my greasy dirty work clothes) to this day he is a well known Kubota dealer in the area and I wouldn't so much as buy a cotter pin off him.
  3. if its 6 volt, it will burn out the points. need to check you starter and generator tags
  4. if they moved backward with the L, to B, they definatlely moved backwards in aerodynamics wise with the B to R. the L was a sheet metal cab over a wooden frame basically, old school doors, old school wipers, the B may have been smaller but it was more modern with stamped steel, removeable door panels, etc
  5. I can get ya some pictures, will take a week or so. there is wedge shaped plated, and the pull pin on one end. I think the square pin side just has a set screw in it, been a few years
  6. are they both 12 or 6 volts wired in parallel? . the gas job trucks only had a short wire going to the frame and one single battery cable going up to the starter button
  7. are you sure its 6 volt?? only the really early b42's were. by 56 57 they were 12 volt. make sure the 6's aren't hooked together to make 12. . if that's the case, one group 31 will spin that thing over faster than its ever seen, trust me
  8. both those prototypes sure were ugly SOB's. got some Studebaker lines in both of them I think
  9. needs to be saved. factory integral sleeper with a Lanova
  10. honestly never seen one marked there.
  11. nice , had the kit in the red box years ago. hard to find models up north anymore. anyone know a direct source I can buy a few from when they get re released??
  12. there is a B61 with concave cab that is always at Balston Spa truck show with the same colors and striping. I assume was owned by one of those at one time? talked with the guy a few times but cant remember the same
  13. so whats the story Jim with that truck, Jimmie Colletto (sp) and think a red one and another green B61 from Rutland way all having that same color scheme and pinstripping? the all belong to the same person at one time?
  14. the early 401's were black. I think around 57 or so they started painted them the blue gray common color. I think most has standard hose clamps except the bypass smaller hose on the water pump back to the thermostat housing had weird clamps. I can get some pictures
  15. looks like you have a 517 or 522. I think 522 superceeded the 517 after 1960 or so I never seen many trucks stamped with 517 .
  16. I have the museum edition B and the yellow B Mack edition 1/25 scale tow truck. have been wanting the Army olive drab 1/25 tractor and lowboy but they seem to be made of gold
  17. got some pictures? is this the same engine i bought the injection pump off of? id be interested in the crank, turbo and oil pan possibly
  18. love how there is an ashtray in the dash as well, that would never fly in today perfect politically correct world
  19. I take it the C model shared the U and R frame and hangers? the ones in the pics have R model rear spring hangers and looks like an R model bumper would bolt right up with the 6 holes? seems odd Mack would spec that weird C model Fuel tanks tho. you don't see those long low hung tanks on anything else
  20. yuk, 8.2...good runner, when they stayed together
  21. someone change out the front axle?
  22. I think someone needs to start reproducting the Goodyear Diamond tread and drive tires. they have such a good look to them
