  1. split rim or 2 or 3 piece rim?? theres a big difference
  2. I don't think id wanna wake up with a bad hangover and have to get in an old B model everyday to earn a living. modern conveniences like power to get away from a traffic light and decent heat, a/c and defrosters would ruin a good day. I dunno bout you guys but I have driven B models in 100 degree heat and the cold and had to fight to keep the windshield defrosted before to.
  3. it amazes me the depth those old reporters put in the newspaper back then. I have read other articles like that and it about mentions the family dog
  4. and im still interested in the one we talked about Mike, that's not on the list....
  5. yup,the northeast kills jeeps, under the doors in the body and where the shackles bolt to the frame always rot off.
  6. B67 was a tandem or a single axle, the same truck, a tandem was a B57 just like in the 50's a B60 was usually a single axle and a B62 was a tandem, then they came out with the B68 that covered and got rid of both models.
  7. always liked that pic. theres a few others in the Mack B model book I like to
  8. Erie made wheels for trailers mostly. was just a manufacturer. I dunno why, probably money but Mack used those Erie wheels on the FA505 front axle ONLY on B42's from about 59-61 then went back to the sturdier style spoke that you could see the nuts for the drum (the old style original wheel used from 53-59) and used it way into the 70's on the R models. i know those rounded style wheels say Erie on them and even the correct wheel wedges do for them. always thought they were an ugly wheel actually.
  9. thats an Erie wheel, was only used on B42's. take a oil filter wrench and screw the hubcap off.... the nuts and retainers are underneath.
  10. some mechanic might have some 'splainin' to do......
  11. interesting, doesn't look like that truck ever had front lever shocks on it at all.
  12. cough cough, I have had one welded , at least a new bung welded in one off a B61lt. it had an aluminum tank. different kinda thing. I don't think id even touch that one. that's a tough tank to find in good shape. any tank with two chambers like that will work. that one has the wet and dry in one tank. up til around 1960 Mack used that same tank with holes in between the chambers. after that they used the air line on top between the chambers like you have in your picture. you can just add two smaller tanks, on on back and one on the side and obviously use the 1st one from the compressor as the 'wet tank'. just make sure you put a check valve in it
  13. last B model was a B57 tri drive
  14. yup, keep the motor and trans from shifting back and forth over time because they are rubber mounted. not all B42's had those style mounts tho. they did away with them and used 3/4 mounting bolts instead of 5/8
  15. Oddball . Most 612s had a r1110 roadranger
  16. Most I have seen all had the flared fenders also
  17. yup B57 was the last B down the line. the B57 and B53 both used a Rockwell front axle and hubs
  18. i bet I could figure that name out Mike...
  19. yup B53's had the fishbelly frame like DM600's and B75 and b73 tandems.
  20. those are common new England colors. red/black sheetmetal, green dump body
  21. most B53s i have seen all had a Rockwell front axle and some even had Timkin rears on 3 leaf walking beams. they were definitely an oddball truck.
  22. Jimmy Hoffa standing in front of a B42T to be exact
  23. good luck sendin me one. I have about nothing good to say about ATHS and the bullshit at York along with their money making bullshit for some gold dome over Kansas city that most of us will never see. ATCA on the other hand is one of the finest clubs I have came across
  24. i have seen that pic before but never really paid attention. always thought it was from another country
  25. that yellow one use to be an SX tandem
