  1. yup Mike Ny is pretty easy like that. when I registered my B613T that hadn't been on the road for 30 years, I gave them a pencil etchin of the frame vin, a bos and they ran the number to make sure no TMT was owed on it and handed me my $28.00 plates......
  2. one closest to you on the smaller flathead gas jobs is the main. only ones that were different were the rare few that had a spicer or brown 3 speed auxillary
  3. I like that idea also. a tank body like that is like hens teeth to find and one that actually fits the truck is even rarer.
  4. yup entire thing. im just throwing it out here but considering its tag from when headquarter was in Plainfield Nj, its a 59 and later truck. that and the vin number is a later one. I have never seen a B model door tag stamped with front or rear or gvw on it. don't know how they ever got away with that actually....
  5. I dunno, that old B42 might still need every gear split, even empty......
  6. there is a video of that truck somewhere on youtube,. id clean it up and run in. don't see many unrestored originals anymore
  7. the one on Mike's yellow and white R model is the most common squared off type in thinkin of from that area. better start collecting them the new Fontaine No Slack II is made in China... . they use to be called 'Rebel Wheels' up here in Ny and New England. I think they are still based in Birmingham Alabama, but made in China, go figure
  8. looks like a Simplex on there to me. a fontaine of that era would have been a squared off type with the lever to release and the common stud lock in the middle with the corrugated fifth wheel plate
  9. common problem with nests in the glad hands. have had that problem with the brakes not wanting to release. went to change the valve and found that when I charged the line with air, I pushed the nest right thru the line to the valve and plugged it up
  10. too short for a dump body. you could only put about an 11 or 12 foot box on it and even then it would look like some farmer put it together
  11. aren't they all morans now a days? had to do a service call on I90 yesterday west of Albany. some brainwave couldn't start his freightliner at a rest area. of course and automatic so it couldn't be pull started. could barely speak English nor could his boss when I called him. tried jumpin it, needed four batteries, after he disagreed, I wasted an hour tryin to jump four dead batteries. then they wanted four but noone could decide who was gonna pay or how. then his boss then proceeded to bitch me out sayin prices were too high for four batteries and the service call. I could well we could tow it for $1200..... then they refused to pay for my time. I go this is easy, ill call the cops, suddenly he could handed over a credit card, where I proceeded to charge him an extra hour of time, call it in and get authorized, have a good day and I left the half Nigerian towel head sittin at the rest area, with four dead batteries...
  12. my 613t will do 75 on 11R24.5's a single over triplex and 4.00 rears just bobtailing but try to pull anything with it and it falls on its face with a 711. it was originally specked with a 673t, a single over triplex and 4.66 gears on 22'' rubber and in the spec sheet it said must go 65mph. like they said it all depends what you wanna do with it and what tire size and if you have an overdrive trans. you can get higher speed out of on but don't expect to pull much weight with it. I believe my B613 was specked to go 65mph with 22 inch rubber and a single overdrive but I bet the overdrive in 5th was ''go home empty gear' only
  13. im thinking something happened when they 'sheared' off the frame maybe? looks how rough its cut of in the front. look like 34 rears to me.
  14. some trucks over the years have lost the spacers. originally B model diesels had 1/4 spacer blocks between the radiator crossmember and the spring hangers. if its been apart and someone forgot them it makes it a real bitch to get the belts on and off. just think, the early B61's had one 3/4 inch belt!
  15. someone hacked off about 5 foot of frame and left it right in the middle of the bolt holes. probably was a B30P . most were made for van bodies. too gutless for anything else.
  16. looks like the green U model with red hubs made it from the west coast as well....
  17. agree. I used a 42mt starter on mine and it has the starter mounted on the top driver side. I had to change the clock position about 4 times to get it to miss the steerimg box and throttle linkage. 39MT is a better choice. I did use a 21si alternator on mine to but made a new mount. the old will work with spacers tho like the guys said
  18. that's one tough looking SOB
  19. about the same price give or take. all depends if you have the ambition to cut the rivets on a B model window, have the parts chromed, put it back together and deal with the broken handle issue or you wanna be lazy and bolt a pair right in and move on. I have done a few pairs, they are not that bad. the rubber parts are probably a little over 300 now from steele rubber products plus you need the glass run for the back side.
  20. nice B42. its a 62 to early 64 truck by the looks of it and the vin number. 64 came out with the R model dome light and those signal lights on the front fenders are original to.
  21. im also glad you didn't put aluminum Alcoas on it also. nice to see an original steel disc truck.
  22. exactly what i was thinking. kinda like a lot of auctions I go to where there is stuff I want but someone bids against me who has no use for it or has no clue even what it is. why bother? just so you can piss your money away and win it so someone else cant? to me most of that stuff is junk like the box of heat baked distributor caps and used signal light switches.
  23. some of these guys on tv are workin for weeks to get real ''Patina'' like that
  24. agree. I have been lookin for a decent one forever and they are all 2000 miles away or made of gold
