  1. Freightrain Larry did this years ago to his B. pulled all the leafs I think except the main ones and used a spacer block to take up the slack. I don't know if id do it with 40 year old springs tho and just use the mains. two fresh main leafs and I don't think there would be a problem. I have thought of doin this before and then putting on a set of helper springs with the pads set a little higher so if you wanna pull a little weight at least you could
  2. you know Mike , im kinda partial to those B61St's those B613's and the B61LT's. let me know if this one ever gets to the for sale status haha. looks like it fits all three of those.
  3. I think the e6 250 is a perfect engine for repowering a B model and leaving the factory twin stick single shaft trans. only problem is they are scarce. only think I ever saw them in around here was CF firetrucks. the 237/5 speed was common as PB and J around Ny and New England.
  4. that white and red superliner pickup use to be in the states. saw it at Macungie before. those Australians sure do have some nice paint jobs. all the stripes and colors on those B models. wonder if they have those Dayton rims chromed or they can buy them?? anyone else notice all the Australian B models seem to have the bigger fuel tank and bigger filler neck and they are Checkerboard pattern and not Diamond plate? wonder if the Checkerboard was export only.
  5. nope, I think most everything sound like a good deal, just like every auction I DONT get to go to, everything goes cheap. any solid running B model is well worth that and those looked clean. as long as the frame and cabs were solid, even if the front sheet metal was rotted or junk, they were worth all of what they brought. you can always change out sheet metal.
  6. were there any B model air starter tanks or short pass side round 55 gallon fuel tanks Mike? and do you know what the quadbox and the 69 Z28 brought?
  7. I give, whats up with the door handles? has flat tool box latches so they aren't in the way of steel/lumber??
  8. isn't the long frame B75 that was just for sale not too long ago on here with the bad engine, the same color??
  9. id look for a heavy R or Dm and swap the rears out, even if you have the shorten or lengthen the driveshaft, its worth it and only cost a hundred bucks or so to have a shop to it. least that way you end up with the newer style hogs heads and the ability to put maxi cans on
  10. the 700r4 has gotta be one of the biggest pain in the ass pieces of shit gm ever put out. kinda like a Mack transmission, theres not two I ever saw that shifted the same. im not sayin there wasnts good ones but there junk ones far outnumber the nice shifting ones ive come across.
  11. nope, noticed the same thing. def has at least an axle swap.
  12. finding parts in the east is hell to. the salt eats everything up
  13. better make sure the price is high enough Mike or this one might have a bad appointment with a shipping container....
  14. that's the problem when you say something is ''RARE''. everything thinks the price is worth 3 times what it really is.
  15. wow this guy must have collected a little bit of everything that was worth money.... bet that 69 Z goes over 35k if it has the original engine. id like to have those Fruehauf round dolly wheels myself.
  16. probably have to use your 673 front crank hub Larry. other than that and waterpump, I don't think there is much else. does your truck have the bigger or smaller radiator? as long as its clean, it should be fine with either.
  17. nope more like 4 mpg they way these old trucks were beat on
  18. went to the Adirondack Nationals car show in Lake George Ny a week or so ago. lots of nice cars, even more big egos , you tend to get tired of lookin at Camaros and mustangs but this caught my eye. guy had it restomoded, I think it had a big block chevy in it and had true 9'' Ford tandems on air bags with a driveshaft runnin the back comin right thru the front rear with big slicks on it, guy pulled a camper with it I think. it was a working truck
  19. that's gotta be the first EQSX tandem dump I have ever seen. looks like it has 44 rears. wonder if its factory.
  20. I think im on track with Superdog on the values. the trailer MIGHT be worth more but older trailers are hit and miss. I don't see 5 k in it tho. you can buy a vintage trailer around here restored for $4500-5k
  21. Fram is sold at Walmart, a store I loath, for a reason, they're cheap
  22. cant say as ive ever seen that style Chevy with budds on the front very rarely.
  23. nice. I like the vintage 'smoke mirror' on the left mirror bracket so you can look at the flame comin from that Cummins at nite.....
  24. the 413 was used to repower a tired 401/402 flathead to, it was sold as a retrokit from Mack. i could be mistaken but i thought i read somewhere that the Maroon B81 had a 413 from the factory but didn't think Mack was using that when that truck was built.
  25. my grandfather had a few of those in the fleet years ago. the diamond Reo Version. 1968's with the 200 gold comet and 5 and 3. said they would run like a bear but couldn't keep the parts on them. fuel tanks, exhaust, rears, hood hinges would break and hood would flop over and rip all the headlite wiring out. good times.
