  1. most likely a 464 with up or down draft carb. cant remember what year the 540 came out but I wanna say it was when they did away with the B60 single axle and B62sx models and just offered the B68 to cover both models with the 540 engine .
  2. youll be happy to know Mike, that firetruck is the ONE AND ONLY B model I have ever parted with....
  3. eliminates the E brake and youd have to put on maxi cans on the rear wheels unless it already has them. also you can reuse your old bell from the duplex if the newer trans has the bigger bolts. and no fear of runnin out of air..... you have six tires to drain and refill and your back on your way, just carry 15 foot of hose!
  4. it will fit, if you take the e brake off the back. also might have the change the bell housing on trans. some had 3/8 bolts in the bell on the engine and some had 7/16. not a big deal.
  5. the quadbox will work. youd want an 18 speed double over or at least a 20 speed single over for what you want. you have to take the emergency bell and brake off the back of the trans for a quad as its a really tight fit without the cab crossmember moved back. not a big deal if you already have maxi brakes
  6. upstate Ny had a bunch of those runnin around, not that our bridges are in bad shape with all the salt and liquid battery acid they put on the roads in the winter....
  7. lots of money both old and new money in Hyde Park. that's where the main CIA (Culinary Institute ) is along with a lot of rich Yuppies out of NYC
  8. agree not restored. $12000-$15000 dollar truck in driver condition.
  9. that truck was for sale in upstate Ny last year. Lake George or Glens Falls I think, then it ended up out west or maybe was still in Ny and sold by a broker out west?
  10. 3 bolts on flange, one bolt on the bottom back and the 6 fuel lines and it should come right off.
  11. depends what truck your talking about, im runnin a 711 na with a 15 speed triplex and a 4.00 rear. nice on the highway. gets to about 75+++ miles per hour but pull something with it and it falls on its ass to about 30mph pretty quick.
  12. I like the R model. pretty decent truck for a repower. looks like a 70-72 with the olive drab interior. pretty clean truck after you scrap the scania, if it still has it
  13. kinda surprised they don't have an old B81 in their fleet . all their stuff looks pretty pristine yet
  14. pre 1959 B models in general are a slim. most were ground out and traded in for new models. there is a lot more 1959-1966 B models out there than there is 1953-1958
  15. agree with the drug testing. also how about following through and investigating some of these lifelong welfare recipients who work under the table and make more money and do better than the rest of us.
  16. yup, no seam sealer there . only the hard old style stuff was used in the rain gutters and around the back panel to roof panel seam
  17. I would have already had a few cold water sammiches while putting the linin on........
  18. yup, kinda thought Gerosaish myself
  19. probably 2.5 gallons per mile....
  20. yup, ran all old macks, then western stars, they got a new titan and went right thru it and did nothing but complain.
  21. that old style pto is both good and bad. good if you have a brain, bad if some moran drives your truck and puts it in high gear and blows the pto right off the side of the transmission. I never ran one faster than 3rd gear
  22. nope, system is definitely broken. when you are committing a crime and caught and told to stop by a cop, with a weapon, you stop, whether your right or wrong. so lets fire the cop for doin his job. same with someone trespassin on your land, you can threaten them, shoot them to protect yourself, then they or their family gets to sue you after. sittin at a red light minding your own business, someone hits your in the ass, their insurance company and them get to sue and argue it was your fault, same ole same ole...
  23. you can change those right over to 11 R22.5's with no problem and gain a modern rim you can get serviced anywhere. that truck looks to be a 63 64 or 65 as it has the newer crossmembers without the weld notch on top. so with that in mind, that might be how old some of those rims are.
  24. agree, If your driving an older truck but looks like it could be used to make money, its best to stop. we even stopped with the B models on the way to York, got waved on thru and have a good day. id rather stop than be chased down
  25. yup was him, my mistake. still don't pay attention to those idiots
