  1. maybe if he was going a little faster he would have make it all the way thru??
  2. yup, Boyd was the typical asshole boss to work for to by the looks of it. promoting that one dirtbag as a manager, being oblivious to some of his employees talents and having the ''let them quit, ill just replace them with someone else'' boss mentality. Chip is a pretty badass bodyman I think. I don't agree but his tire/wheel choices but everyone has different opinions. the one fact I hate is when these people out in sunny California or Texas bitch about rust on a 50 year old vehicle when its surface rust. come to Ny and ill introduce you to some rust. Regardless I don't wanna hijack this thread but Any of those Tv shows would overdramatize a truck build like this and would show more bullshitting around than actual restoration work. about the only car show I can watch lately is Graveyard Carz and they are even ruining that one a little bit. seems once they get out of their ''tiny little garage'' that they actually had to bust their ass to get and they get a huge building that Tv helped them pay for, it automatically ruins the show.
  3. agree. you could probably use lowboy goose neck quick couplers and they would be fine with it. the blue and red plastic line might be ok now a days but doesn't look right on a vintage truck and personally I hate them, they are always tangled up.
  4. yup about sick of seeing that one relisted myself. god I had resale black and white trucks. surprised they didn't paint the hubs, and rims white to. about the only thing right about the listing is the year, and 10 speed part. its obviously a r685 with a 237 and 34 rears.
  5. why doe the timing cover have to come off? did I miss something?
  6. nice. think we mentioned the horizontal shutters on a b model before. seems like I was a Canadian thing also? to keep he snow and ice out of them easier?
  7. last B rolled off the line in April 1966
  8. i have only saw that setup with the two air tubes and scoop on Canadian R models. they all seemed to have tht same air cleaner with the bigger bottom diameter than the top. some had that weird 2'' angled snorkel tube comin out of the air cleaner for some reason to.
  9. I agree with Mike and Mike... I think you need another truck. they didn't make many B673 factory turbo trucks either so finding that drop down manifold might not be that easy, you might be able to use a manifold from a cabover or cabover firetruck
  10. i remember that truck being or sale years ago. didn't they want like 80 k for it or something??
  11. that's still/was still available from Mack. 4QM12P5 was the number. its the same as used on RD800 butterfly hoods. just comes longer and you have to cut it to length. most good restoration supply companies have it as well as a lot of older cars and trucks used the same strip.
  12. I hate to say it but usually the off brands don't have much reasale value , the Macks, Brockways, Whites seem to hold their value and while you'll never get out what you put into one, you will get some of your money back.
  13. yup, pretty sure I have seen that F model at Macungie, think its gone down hill a little tho since then. never seen the R before
  14. looking good. was gonna ask what was going on with that funky air cleaner snorkel. some people shouldn't be allowed around a sawsall or a welder..
  15. that's looks like a B model visor Baxter. R model ones don't have the teardrop cut out for the lights
  16. im liking that dump truck Mike... if only It was Mack powered.......
  17. never know for sure. I have seen a few prototype R models with 1961 as the build date..
  18. I know a good spot for that turbo 711 rudy........ haha
  19. was gonna stop there a few weeks ago on our way back from Fla but it didn't line up in our time schedule.
  20. i read that also. like I said I have no problem with some older personriding a cart around to see the show but some of the kids have gotten out of hand along with the utv's runnin around.
  21. i agree with the registering of the carts. I dunno about some people but the last few years at Macungie have been a pita with golf carts. I don't care about the 80 yr old man riding around with a cart but these young kids about runnin over your heals and you having to watch everywhere you walk for fear of bein hit by a car is unreal.
  22. that must have been the last round of restoration on ole Jane Anne I guess Al? I remember years go he had the shutter shaved.
  23. ha too many Maddogs. im upstate. will have the better half with me in York also. might need a ride back for two .
  24. drive it . wth?? im seriously thinkin about fiindin a spot to leave my B in between York and Macungie, if I can only find a ride back to Ny after York..
  25. i think Matt Pfahl actually cut the center out of his shutters, just left half the fin and took out about a 20'' by 20'' square to mount the condenser in front of the radiator. he might have also used the stationary shutters that didn't move so he didn't cut a good set. cant remember , been a while since I studied his truck.
