  1. nice lookin tough dog there. a B613SX or B813sx is on my wish list someday........
  2. saw that last night. would love to have that one. looks to have a 673 turbo with that badass chrome air cleaner
  3. yup, agree looks like a water push out. good welding shop can weld that right up with cast iron rod. I have seen a few Mack trans broke in this same spot actually. mine has about 15 pounds of brass on it. I ended up changing out the front case with a spare. glad to see you moving along on this gem and decided not to sell it.
  4. if you hot rod it it'll tear up a quadbox or and trans that's not a triple countershaft. if you drive it like a human and like you own it, it'll be fine
  5. the en464 and en540 would outpull a 673. the gassers had more grunt
  6. yours is the newer radiator shell. shouldn't be too hard to get off. four bolts on top under the hood welting, two behind the hood latches and two in the bottom of the shutters. be thankful its not the old style with 10 god forsaken rusty Phillips bolts thru the headlight panels
  7. talked to Barry yest. he made good on his promise. ordered me a pair of hubcaps late cause I was away on vacation.
  8. weren't those the junk covers Mike that didn't have a lip in the back and you couldn't stand on without the cover fallin off and you falling on your ass? had the generic latch on the front, not the rubber strap?
  9. that looks like a pretty reasonable deal for someone on a pretty solid truck. I just hope someone doesn't buy it, take it apart and lose interest. seems to happen a lot lately. everyone wants one but they don't realize the task and money it takes to restore one. that one deserves to be painted up wit Carolina or St Johnsbury on the door
  10. use to be lots of them in upstate Ny. my grandfather had about 6 in the fleet, wouldn't hold a candle to a B model, if you could keep them together to last thru the day. the ones we had had the fiberglass flip nose and the 200 straight 6 overhead valve Reo gold comet. engine was an animal but everything else was junk.
  11. yup, tapered shaft on a B. I have seen many inner fenders torch cut for this very reason over the years. funny thing is I have a pair of NOS inner fenders in primer and they have a notch cut out for this reason with a cover over it.
  12. there was 2 or 3 different steering boxes Larry. the B20 and 30 used the smaller Gemmar box I think. B42-61 used the SG25 or 26. yours is a SG26 as you have a Fa517. the Fa505 with the hubcap used the SG25 box. most al B models have a nut and lock washer on the box. only ones I have seen with the Machine screw and slot in the nut were the Shephard boxes. id use a wire wheel and clean up around the shaft, PB blaster it and put the puller on with some tension. it should pop.
  13. I think you should run those specials thru Jan 1st Barry. maybe some of us can do some buyin with out Christmas loot!
  14. i think there was some legal issues with Amt vs Mack regarding the Junkyard dog kit. Mack was pissed that amt disgraced them like that and I think most of the kits were pulled from the market that's why they bring so much. it was the end of the line with Mack licensing anymore kits of Amt to do also I think. been wanting to buy one of those ''Angry Bird'' hood ornaments for years but they also seem to bring a high dollar.
  15. some have the machine screw lock and some don't. some pop right off and some can be a real bear. we actually welded up a puller horseshoe shaped that fits over it and used heavy threaded with two nuts as the stops to remove these before.
  16. id take a ride to Windham to help you with an old Mack if you needed...... im about a lil over an hour away. might even be interested in something if you decide to sell.
  17. yup, front crank hub has to be changed, the gas job trans mounts are different than a diesel. you can probably re use the radiator with some fancy plumbing, I have used a B68/B62 radiator before in a B61. also need to put the 1/4 inch spacer plates between the front spring hangers and the radiator crossmember to move it forward or it is a real bitch to change a fan belt if you don't!
  18. I think we have had this discussion before but im about sick of these guys with 12'' stacks in their pickups. I think one single stack on like a 1 tons wrecker or something is cool but some of these wannabes are getting ridiculous. id like the see them carry 3-4 bales of hay in the box of that brand new truck they just cut two holes in the bottom of the brand new box.....
  19. cant stand people who butt out their cigarettes anywhere they want. I think most smokers could care ales about the rest of us. hate walkin out of a store or restaurant and they are smoking right outside the door so you have to walk thru it. on another note, we have one cat, who doesn't go outside, but when I mow or weedeat, I always seem to step in cat shit with my logging boots. all our neighbors have cats who go outside. funny thing lately is I have a semi automatic 597 Remington and I somehow have less cat shit on my lawn.... dunno why.....
  20. Hunter? as in Windham mtn Ny hunter?
  21. theres a U model tandem wecker on Florida craigslist Vinster, want me to drive it back up????
  22. still learning Mike.... haha
  23. in Tenn right now Mike for vacation. driving to fla Tuesday for x mas and comin back next sunday. ill check into it when I get back. kinda wished it was a B62. but the baby quadboxes are getting scarce.
