  1. nice, not a Ford man myself but I still believe in a ford in a ford. have a 56 f100 mysef that's a basket case with a solid cab. one of these days ill get to it. just never seem to have time when I have money, and money when I have time
  2. I like it, would love to have it but I also like my balls.... they might come up missin if I bring anymore trucks home anytime soon
  3. spray some pb blaster in there and work them up and down a little. the tolerances are really close and with te garbage fuel we have today this is a common problem.
  4. what happened to A and D service? did the totally go out? I remember years back few of their wreckers being for sale down south.
  5. traded one of those 864 v8s and double over quadbox with a double disk clutch for a B model year back. still kick myself..... . was in a Dm600 and there was only about 200 made with v8's! this one ran excellent but was so rough we had to drive it around with the hand throttle on the dash well because there was no floor or hammer pedal anymore
  6. the newer number for a duplex is a TRD722. im sure there is a reason. probably a bearing or something changed. think Mack changed the number around 64-65
  7. yup, nice chain box. only other thing I like to do is rattle can the hooks with diff colors. makes it easier to tell which chain is a long one or a short one
  8. yup those are the ones id like a pair of Mike.
  9. like to have that N model. that H model has been listed for a while. both are way out of whack on price
  10. wouldn't we all.... been out of production for many years. id kill for a pair of the red white and blue bicentennial flaps. if we only knew back then... I have one pair of the 5 color ones stashed away for the right truck. couldn't bring myself to cut them down to put on my stainless fenders
  11. that is the original Mack green on the inside. inside was lighter than the outside. there are many variences of that color tho
  12. i remember a write up years ago in Double Clutch or WOT about Matt's B42/B43 rollback
  13. first question is, what did you do to piss them off??
  14. nice. the one Granite has the outside double arched trunion on it. thought they did away with that with the early R models......
  15. been to the Fogelsville hotel. they have good food also. we walked there from the hotel last year. where is everyone stayin this year?? I have not booked a room yet
  16. Detroit, Rockwell rears. might as well pull the cab if its good and send the rest to China. that aint no Mack in my book
  17. stayin in the Lehigh valley, planning on going to Trucktoberfest but probably not the tilted kilt. my better half is just not fond of that place or hooters and ya know if shes not happy....
  18. id keep it. getting pretty hard to find any steel dash R model in decent shape anymore
  19. is this the truck you guys were putting together to haul tractors? kinda wondered what happened. no new updates in a while
  20. late april fools joke????
  21. you can run all the newer plastic lines,. you have to buy new fittings/elbows tho as the ones for plastic have a reinforcement nipple inside them. everything goes back to pipe thread tho so you can simply unscrew the old fittings/elbows out of the valves and screw new ones in. you can even use the longer original style nuts on the lines if you have them
  22. Gorman had tons of nice R models.still see a few around here and there. I think mostly farmers wound up with them and they didn't get imported. they also had a bunch of B models back in the day that were only ran a few summers. they had financial troubles and I heard they stashed the trucks away somewhere for a few years until they recouped a lil. maybe somewhere there is still a dozen Gorman B models in an old Barn somewhere?????
  23. my 707/711 has decent power bobtailing empty with 4.00 gears and a triplex but usually a good hill will make you drop it back into low. im sure with one car on you could get 55-65 comfortable but you are never gonna see 75
  24. tetropoid gears should be raised, under that it should be TRDL720 or TRD720 if its a 9 speed overgear. TRDL72 TRD72 or TRD722 if its a 10 speed direct.
  25. the trans numbers are on the left side of the front case and are stamped into the case, not raised like the patent numbers. news to me but don't think you can turn 5th gear around in a Mack. im betting its a 9 speed overgear. that was the most common after a while in a road tractor. if the case has been cracked and replaced, there could also be no numbers stamped. youll need a wire brush to find the numbers. they are right ahead of where the two cases bolt together.
