  1. that's the one I remember Mike
  2. nope me either. I always put a Power Service or Lucas in the tank at fill up to.
  3. most early b models had them outside the frame on stands. the same cast stands used on fire trucks. they never lasted, and were in the way. most I have seen in factory pictures just had tail lights as most single axle were hooked to a trailer and Mack didn't put signal lights on the front or back of B models until late 1960 or 61. the taillights were mounted on small pieces of aluminum channel from the factory. I made some brackets to put my signals on the back above my tail lights with spacers. I can take a few pictures if youd like.
  4. what engine was in a B125?
  5. as apposed to today where 100% of Macks DONT have a Mack engine......
  6. maybe only the Hemi had the cross bolted mains? maybe that's what im thinkin of? I know the orange block is the industrial version. not sure what the difference it but I know my grandfathers R410s had a blue block in it and bolted directly to a 77 series trans. my orange block had an adapter plate like yours that dropped it down to a #3 bell housing. your B421 I bolted to he spring hangers in the pic by the looks of it. mine had the hangers off the 4 bolts of the front spring hanger.
  7. It was black with a red driveline right??
  8. I see yours is the ''blue block'' .the ''orange block '' like was in mine is the industrial block. I dunno what the difference is. its not the true ''max wedge'' block cause it doesn't have the side bolts thru the block and into the main bearing caps. yours also appears to be bolted thru the rear spring hangers. mine was bolted thru the original 401 rear motor mounts.
  9. was eyeballin that truck myself. wasn't it cheap???? like 3500 cheap???
  10. in a B42X, X meant it had double frame. quarry up by us had 100's of B42x's with double frames, 23,000 rears, 8,000 fronts. they all had Fa505 fronts with erie wheels, not the Mack ones and had 1100x20's on them with quarry treads. Mack lost the X in the Sx with the B42's later one. most of the 61-66 B42's were just B42S with 38 rears and FA517 fronts.
  11. 20 speed baby quad is a TRQ77 and TRQ770 is an 18 speed baby quad. they use a smaller imput shaft I think where as the TRD67 and TRD72 series use the same size imput shaft. my B613t had the EN413 and a 5 speed direct wit a 6000 series 3 way auxiliary behind it. the driveshaft was about 6 inches long.... sold the trans setup to Keith on this site who had/has a green R410P with a 413. picture of my B613 when it had the abortioned Chrysler in it..
  12. right on Mike. those West coast lids were junk, fell on my ass more than once standing on one...... hey were nothing like the x box battery box cover.
  13. haha yea yea. im always looking. don't buy much anymore tho. looks like a Sears oil Brock........ someone posted a pic of a 257 Brockway on the Brockway site I have been tryin to buy for years. my luck he will sell to someone else . never know
  14. 534 or 543??
  15. not much better than a round headlite Superdog. whats the story on the Brockway way in the background in the first pic??
  16. nice Mike but god would a rollback get me in trouble.....
  17. the 401/402 was good for 100,000 miles on a good year, if you babied it and changed the engine and air cleaner oil often. some wouldn't go 40,000. they were overworked for what they were. they were made for small delivery trucks and site dump trucks. the 413 was an economical replacement and Mack was paired up with Damlier at the time, just like they had Renault engines in them in the 80's and we have a Volvo with a Bulldog now a days.
  18. my gauge works and I still have one of those precision yardsticks under the seat also...
  19. things seemed a little better in the 80's I think. even tho they are ugly (sorry Vinny) at least they still had color and there was more than just white Walmart and Werner trucks on the road.... im likin the Diamond tread Goodyears on that first Jones' U model. what id do for a few of those NOS.
  20. likin the stack on that DM800. straight out to an angle
  21. 413's you could actually see the fuel gauge drop I think. my grandfather had one in a R410s with an 18 speed quad box and the walkin beam rears. said it went like a bastard and burnedgas just as bad. we still have an about NOS 413 on a stand for sale complete with brackets needed to bolt into a B model if anyone is interested. far as I know NO B models ever left the factory with a 413. might have been repowered at a dealer but never left the factory that way.
  22. same truck, with box removed??
  23. believe that nice blue one has the 300+ inside sticker on the hood scoop. if you decide to ditch you velocity stack on your air cleaner for a chrome jobby, im looking for an original B model one in the worst way
  24. not much of a better ride. its still a Mack.'' got a dog on the hood, it dont ride good..''
