  1. odd butt when I took my heads off, they has the thin maxidyne gaskets and the fire rings but the heads don't have a groove for the fire ring to fit in,..... they fit above the surface. I put new gaskets and fire rings back on just how it was. maybe someone didn't know what they were doing? I know the gaskets are the same part number a s 237 cause we had one apart at the same time as mine and put new heads on it and used the same gaskets for both engines
  2. think they are smaller than that. any chrome shop or Mack dealer has them and the brackets. im thinkin they are 5'' on mine , at most 6''
  3. all the 673's had a 4 7/8 bored, my end707 and the 711 have a 5'' bore. never seen a 711 with fire rings, not sayin it couldn't have ben retrofitted. my 707 has maxidyne head gaskets and fire rings. the piston squirters were used on the later 673 turbos, the b and c engines. they weren't on the early end673t's only on the later endt673c and endt673c's
  4. don't worry, even when filled right , something has gotta leak, Macks are like an old Panhead, something always drips. have taken many pinion yolk flanges apart only to find two seals in back to back tryin to keep the grease in the rear end.
  5. we forgot the engine in my B613T, its an END707. must have been a short block or something as is came out of a B61SX I scrapped and was clean as a whistle. my engine doesn't have piston squirters but does have fire rings and the same head gaskets as a 237. same part number. doesn't have the old style copper gaskets, has the thin ones for more compression. I have seen it listed in an R model brochure from the 70's as an option and is listed as 200hp at 1800RPMs. would love to turbo it but don't wanna hurt it without the piston squirters. doesn't smoke at all and id like to turn the fuel up a notch but don't know how. just want a little smoke for play as I don't work it. would like to find a endt673b or c for it someday or a 237.
  6. didn't say it was bad, sayin its a 10-12000 truck, not a 25000 one
  7. non turbo 673 was around 170hp, the P engines with the split intake like a 711 were 187hp, the original 673 turbo was 205hp, the 711 was 211hp and the newer turbo 673B and C were 225 and 250hp
  8. that green one is nice, I hate when they weld/bondo the fenders to the headlite panels tho. def not a 25000 truck either with the non Mack rear end and the rot in the windshield post and above the door hinges and the sloppy paint all over the interior and firewall mat. ''shiny paint makes her whats she aint''
  9. Rudy, your killin me, all the work you have done?? find a doner DM and swap the engine, tranny and rears into the B81 already!
  10. you know what pisses me off is this fuckin bullshit minimum wage crap, half these fuckin losers are makin minimum wage for a reason! whens the last time you had someone actually could our damn change back to you?? if they raise the minimum wage, the blue collar wage should go up just as much in my opinion. someone started out makin 15 bucks and hour and someone started out at 5.15 for a reason!!
  11. pull the plug next to the Mack script, fill her up til it starts running out the hole.
  12. yup, pretty sad when my 597 Remington .22 needs to be registered because it will hold 10 rounds in the clip, wtf?
  13. typical, been having trouble with our junk 6.0 ford again all winter, anything below 30 degrees and It gells up, can plow with it for 3 hours but try to go down the road and it starts bucking, damn junk diesel. went over and got 40 gallons of Kerosene for it the other day, had enough.
  14. I believe around late 1961, early 1962, same here they came out with the 711
  15. why cant that kinda stuff be close to me for 500 and buy it now??
  16. feel the same way Rowdy. hell even my .22 gauge Remington semi auto holds more than 5 rounds, so I guess that's illegal and the DMV in Ny is a joke also. my lattest bitch, my fiance' works for the county, has for years, I have been tryin to get on her insurance forever. they shoot me down because we don't have a LOAN together or a bank account or a credit card. they say we needs a LOAN together for me to qualify for insure to prove I live her! I have had the same address for 5 years, WITH her, and our house is paid off, sure we drive junk but we DONT need a loan together. meanwhile the people in the office next to hers are Dept of social services, people walk in night and day and get free cable, insurance, and a cell phone AND now we have a short bus driving around the fuckin county pickin up all these losers and takin them to DSS to pick up their welfare and free cell phone. AND the DSS nd DMV are side by side, cant find a spot to run in on your lunch to the DmV for anything cause all theses dirtbags are takin up the parking spaces.
  17. im envious of that cabinet. could put my whole collection in there probably instead of 2-3 different barrister bookcases and various shelves.
  18. nice job saving that fender. that's an original style air cleaner plate. most all diesels had them like that out of aluminum, both wit the bigger air cleaner and the smaller one. kind surprised they put a 237 in her and didn't upgrade to a turbo style air cleaner or a non oil bath. usually a 237 will suck the oil right out of a oil bath cleaner and run itself.
  19. I use to be hardcore ebay buyer for the first gear diecast. slowed down lately tho and tryin to put more money into bigger projects. few of my favorites I have are the light and dark green Mack edition R model tanker and that Brockway wrecker. the smaller 143 scale yellow B model dump along with the yellow Mack edition R model mixer are on my list. right now I get yelled at for buyin many more, the better half says im runnin out of room....
  20. good call. I wouldn't part with my single axle B613 with a frame off every bolt turned restoration for less than 50 grand. just cant replace one or build another one that fast for that matter.
  21. see a lot of those DMM trucks up here in Ny. bunch of farmers have bought them and put silage bodies on them to haul corn and whatever. most have huge long bodies on them with self opening tailgates. there is a guy down by Cortland Ny that buys them up from someone and stretches them and puts the bodies on. most of the trucks come from Fla and are former cement mixers also
  22. say it isn't so rudy, your giving up on the old girl??
  23. UER or United Engine Rebuilders in Utica use to rebuild them all the time. they always had a rebuilt 401 in stock years ago.
  24. I thought all the flatheads, 291,331 and 401's were all Magnadynes Mikes but also thought they were all of continental design
  25. pretty sure all the smaller Mack badged flathead engines, 291, 331, 401's were all continentals, or at least continentals design. only the bigger overhead valve Thermodynes were Macks own and they we really relatives of the Lanova design..
