  1. OK, my mind is at ease now that I know the answers to those pressing questions.
  2. Probably has a Dynamax wet clutch, I don't recall much about them.
  3. I've been waiting all afternoon for this punchline and worse yet, now I have to figger out why a Schneider truck only has one seat!
  4. Jay, what the VIN number on your truck? I ask cuz I randomly looked up a '66 U not 10 minutes ago.
  5. After looking at a parts book I see that you are right, there is/was a 409GC157 bolt, it just doesn't come up in the parts system currently. The parts book does not give dimensional data about the bolt however, so if you can post that information (nominal bolt diameter, thread size and threads per inch) it may be helpful. You might try a scrap yard, but it's doubtful that you would fiind what you need. Assuming you need to get the truck working again ASAP, you might try giving these guys a call and see if they may be able to come up with something: http://arpdiesel.com/ Their contact information as follows: Automotive Racing Products (ARP) 1863 Eastman Ave. Ventura, CA 93003 USA • Toll Free 800-826-3045 Local: 805-339-2200 • Fax: 805-650-0742 What happened to the original bolt?
  6. ...with an air of disappointed submission
  7. Figure everyone could use a laugh, here's one from RandyP's neck of the woods. A new priest, born and raised in Texas, comes to Louisville, Ky to serve and is nervous about hearing confessions, so he asks the older priest to sit in on his sessions. The new priest hears a couple of confessions, and then the old priest asks him to step out of the confessional for a few suggestions. The old priest suggests, "Cross your arms over your chest, and rub your chin with one hand and try saying things like 'yes, I see,' and 'yes, go on,' and 'I understand.' The new priest crosses his arms, rubs his chin with one hand and repeats all the suggested remarks to the old priest. The old priest says, "Now, don't you think that's a little better than slapping your knee and saying, "No shit... what happened next?"
  8. As I understood it the raid on Gibson's guitar factory was based on the fact that they had supposedly imported unfinished lumber from India and had then worked the wood into guitar parts. This was supposed to be in violation of some trade agreement that required the wood be finished in it's country origin (that's an oversimplified explanation). I've also heard that the burden rests upon the subsequent buyer to later prove that the lumber was not finished domestically, so for example, you wouldn't be able to sell the guitar later on without proving that it was not made of parts that were subject to the trade agreement, else you would be subject to penalties the same as Gibson is facing. Now imagine they go into Remington and do the same thing, cuz guess what, that gun stock is made of wood too! Imagine you want to sell or trade a gun but can't because it may or may not have materials subject to these rules. It's a war on personal freedom. It's not going to come all at once, it'll be done incrementally, a little here and a little there and pretty soon you're raising your hand to ask permission to shit. That's my two cents. With the economy being the way it is that two cents probably isn't worth to much but that's all I've got.
  9. I was going to bring that up, pretty crooked deal all around. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I think that may have something to do with plans for gun control.
  10. Wish we could all be so lucky!
  11. There is no part number matching what you have posted (409GC157) in the parts system. There is a 409GC167, is that what you meant? There are still none in stock, but the parts system says it is 13/16" diameter with 12 threads per inch. Is this from an 865?
  12. There should be a locating pin in the front and in the rear of the #4 main bearing cap that prevents the thrust washers from turning. The thrust washers should have a corresponding notch that slides over the pin.
  13. Being pulled by your truck it couldn't look bad!
  14. We had a few RD800 trucks here that we had to install the short mufflers on so they could operate in the forests, spark arrestors I think?
  15. I think you're right, all I 'member for sure is the 'pocyclypse and Capt. Walker.
  16. Remember what Tina Turner said: "Break a deal and face the wheel!"...but I'll still give you a point, that's a pretty nice truck with a pretty neat history. Glad to see it stay in the country.
  17. But who's going to remind you what the siren is for?
  18. It shouldn't matter that he completed the program or not. He could "relapse" at anytime. I would imagine that reinstating him to a driving position knowing that he had a drinking problem would jack up the carriers insurance rates. If he had an accident while driving for the company while under the influence that's even worse for them. It sounds like they made a shrewd business decision. The fact that he came forward of his own accord, that OD has acted in the same manner before, and that he is suing for " monetary relief in the form of reinstatement to a driving position, back pay and compensatory and punitive damages, compensation for lost benefits for two drivers, and an injunction against future discrimination." makes me wonder if it isn't just an attempt to milk the legal system.
  19. But be prepared for lots of stinky burning rubber. Most of the time it's really the only option.
  20. Rob, do you have a source other than Mack for the 5/16" UNF u-nuts? I've checked several hardware vendors and never been able to find any suppliers. I know it would be possible to replace the nuts with a coarse thread u-nut instead, but I would want to change all of the remaining fasteners out as well to prevent thread mismatch later on.
  21. Here's the information on the dash light for VMAC II VMAC II dash light information .pdf
  22. That's even better than the original joke.
  23. Shouldn't feel that way, looks like you've done some considerable upgrading to the grillin' shack. Here's my pork loin from yesterday.
  24. Anti-seize on the threads of the u-bolts, the contact faces of the nuts, washers, and trunnion housing. When you think you've applied enough anti-seize you've only got about half of what you need. Re-torque the u-bolts after about a week.
  25. No RS or RL 771 come up in the parts system, I found a couple of WS771 with Detroit 12V71 engines.
