  7. The importance of the vibration damper cannot be over-emphasized. ReMack engines even have a warning label stuck to the timing cover advising of this fact.
  8. The Midliners were kind of the bastard child of Mack and Renault, pretty expensive to work on, but pretty long lived in general. There's a fire department around here that has (I believe) a MS300 with all wheel drive. The VIN should be stamped into the right hand frame rail somewhere around the shock absorber. There should also be an ID plate in the cab below the driver-side instrument panel.
  9. That is a pretty unique looking truck, what was it used for before you bought it? What kind of information are you looking for?
  10. Does it run? If it does and you got a trailer with it I'd say that isn't a bad deal, just have to watch the price of some (most?) of the parts. Post pictures please!
  11. This might help you out some, it's a little fuzzy looking but it should still be legible. CH and CL with Full Trailer Connection without ABS.pdf
  12. I misread this last night, missed the part about the bag being on the lowboy. The trailer air supply should be coming from the "dual air" circuit. I'll see if I can find a diagram.
  13. Is it the rapture already? Good thing I put on clean shorts this morning!
  14. If the secondary air system (red needle) drops first and then the primary leaks off it could be because of the air bag leaking off the secondary system and then a check valve not fully seating and allowing the primary system air to bleed into the secondary circuit.
  15. The nylon/plastic airline is DOT stamped. It is much easier to replace later on, as well as cheaper, however in converting from Aeroquip to nylon/plastic I would expect the largest part of the budget would go towards brass fittings which will have to be changed at the same time.
  16. Yep, AD-9. I've heard/read stories of counterfeit desiccant cartridges being made with cat litter and such which will plug up almost immediately and cause the system not to build air. Something to watch out for when purchasing parts.
  17. It looks like the carrier bearing bracket for the steering shaft is way taller and more obstructive than on the Mack powered chassis. What is that in the area of the fan shroud (directly above the steering gear in the picture)? Looks like it might be a part of the radiator shroud but I can't really tell.
  18. Screen doors on sub-marinnes are no laughing matter! OSHA wouldn't approve of such a safety violation.
  19. That's one cool looking truck.
  20. I always figured gears were gears, a transmission is a transmission and a rear end is a rear end, and that there wasn't a whole lot that you could screw up by adding electrical equipment to one. I must have been wrong. I wonder where we'll be in a few years with these. As said earlier, the cost of replacement is prohibitive, they're too easy to damage, and I don't think rebuilders will have much luck rebuilding them. So what do you do with a truck that in five years time is useless and not worth what was paid for it due to a shot automated transmission? Time will tell how the mDrive will fare, but if the transmissions don't hold up it seems like it will really put a damper on used truck availability.
  21. So does that mean an overall increase in highway products or an overall decrease in vocational/refuse products?
  22. Tell him to take picture, plenty of pictures. We need pictures.
  23. The arcing you saw at the EUP was probably caused by a loose or bad connection at the terminals on the pump.
  24. Looks like the part number for the extended bumper with center tow pin hole is 82267126, there are several other pieces to go along with the bumper. Looks like it is also available with a rock guard. I don't know if they're interchangeable either.
  25. Happy birthday Josh, hope it's a good one, and I hope you have many more!
