  1. What an undignified death for some grand pieces of equipment.
  2. That does look kool
  3. Yep. He's drafting out the cab in the picture. If you zoom in the picture a little it looks like he's spec'd "Baby Shit Green" as the factory color scheme.
  4. And here's the grand daddy of 'em all, Euclid of Alexandria
  5. I think Cummins will still remain a player, though likely in a lesser role than in the past, and mainly as a supplier of some of the engine subsystems such as turbos and DPFs.
  6. I cheated, so I won't give it away, but that's quite a piece of machinery.
  7. By the way, it looked like the trailers were unpainted. It also looked like the platform section of the trailers ran all the way back behind the cab but I still couldn't see what they were attached to.
  8. Saw some more of these today. One truck pulling, two behind it on these little gooseneck trailers. The pull truck had the engine running at an idle and consequently shutdown (I imagine due to the clean idle system) when I walked by. The driver strolled up and restarted the engine and set the idle speed up, sounded like crap, almost like a miss in the engine. I suppose it had a DD15 in it, do they normally sound like that? I know the '07 MP engines rattle and make a bunch of weird noise. Anyway, I started to ask the driver what the deal was with the trailers but he had an air of aloofness about him. Guess I would too if I had one a them snazzy hands free cell phone headsets, a pair of Bufford T Justice sunglasses, and a load of Freightliners to deliver! I left him alone figuring that if his lead truck broke down it probably wouldn't be much work for him to unload the rearmost truck and use it to pull the other two.
  9. U-shaped tube is a 207GC178. Shouldn't need to be replaced , but you never know. Nuts are 63AX3438. May need to replace them if the rubber wont come out of them. The rubber seal is a 52AX34. the fittings are 63AX3705. All together I wouldn't think you're looking at more than a few dollars worth of parts.
  10. If you take a long extension and a 1/2" fuel line socket, crows foot (box or open end) you can probably get the nuts loose without pulling anything else apart. They can be hard to get back together this way, especially if you reuse the nuts, because it's hard to get the nuts started back onto the fittings. Usually just the seals need to be replaced, sometimes the seals are stuck into the nuts and are a pain to get out. I'll give you some part numbers in a bit.
  11. From what I've heard they're supposed to have a Caterpillar automatic transmission as an option and CT11, CT13, and CT15 engines available.
  12. Fuel injector leak off line fittings it sounds like. There should be a small "U" shaped tube between the heads that are sealed with a couple of round rubber grommets, the rubber is probably dried out or deteriorated and letting fuel leak by.
  13. Uh-oh, Field Commander Barry ain't gonna like this.
  14. Hey Speed, Here's a link to SKF's eCatalogs: http://www.vsm.skf.com/en-US/Catalog/ecatalogs.aspx
  15. I may be wrong, but I think the Australian chassis may still have the Cummins engine as an option. I don't know the production numbers but it seems like the Cummins engines weren't used very widely when they were available in the CV.
  16. Besides, most (or at least quite a bit) of the bolt on crap is made by Cummins. I only see that volvo chooses to use it in a less than desirable manner.
  17. Happy birthday guys!
  18. Hey Mark, do you by any chance know the VIN?
  19. Here's one more to my liking. Doing the things a Mack oughta be doing! A 1958 B61, as of 2009 was still working in Litiz PA supposedly. Does anyone know who it belongs to?
  20. J1708, connecting through either a 6 or 9 pin connector. Starting with 2010 emissions engines the protocol is J1939 (CAN). You can buy an HD scanner from Mac tools, it also available through Mack Trucks, that will read all makes fault codes.
  21. What roads do you drive to get to Hawaii?
  22. Looks good, customized a bit without going overboard, kudos to you! More pictures please.
  23. Cooling system maintenance too.
  24. Heat, vibration, poor/no coolant flow. On the left side of the engine there is a formed hose that connects to the thermostat housing. There is a screen inside of the tube that is designed to catch large debris in the system, if it gets plugged it will reduce coolant flow and have a detrimental effect on the cooling system, particularly the EGR cooler. Check it when you drain the coolant to remove the EGR cooler. It's supposed to be changed when the cooling system is drained, according to Mack. Some of the guys on the site may have some more information regarding the screen.
  25. That would be it, right in front of the air compressor.
