The New Adventures Of Spot The Wonder Dog Episode 4
rhasler replied to rhasler's topic in Odds and Ends
With the deadline for construction of the new Longhorn Lagoon Stadium drawing near, things are looking pretty grim for Randy and Sheriff Other Dog. While the city fathers cluck their tongues, stroke their beards, and wonder "Whatever are we to do about these truck thieves?", the Sheriff redoubles his efforts to locate the missing trucks, sending out APB's to every police force and constabulatory within 500 miles while Randy and Spot canvas the town searching for clues. The truckless trio packs their bags and head straight off to sunny south Florida. As soon as they arrive they head for the docks, desperate to find their missing modes of transport. To be continued... -
In Eastern Texas there is a sleepy little town called Daingerfield. Daingerfield is a quaint, quiet little town that time seems to have forgotten. Days come and go with little fanfare, especially those long, hot Summer days when the crickets chirp, the fish jump, and the sun beats down mercilessly. Today is not one of those days. RandyP, favorite son of Daingerfield, his trusty wonder dog Spot, and Sheriff Other Dog have just made a shocking discovery as the sun peaks over the horizon. Randy's chosen means of transport, his trusty B61 Mack, lovingly referred to as "Killer B" has been stolen while Randy, Spot, and Sheriff Other Dog were fighting off a pack of Aztec Indians hell bent on sacrificing them to their elder gods. Randy's agonized scream echoes through the town. Soon the phone lines are abuzz, women swoon, men spit and cuss, children no longer laugh and play and everyone has heard of Randy's predicament. Spot is particularly upset by the theft Sheriff Other Dog is hard at work on the case, tracking down leads and questioning suspects The trap now set, Sheriff Other Dog poses as an everyday mixer driver. Owing to the Sheriff's high moral standards however, his conscience urges him to help an old lady cross the road, and when he comes back he finds his mixer mysteriously gone too! To be continued....

The cal codes are four character alpha-numeric strings, something like 6G85, and will be located on the face of the EUP in the lower front corner of the tag, as viewed with the pumps installed in the engine. The serial number is the string of characters starting with "P" or "OBP" towards the center of the tag. The serial numbers may also need to be entered into the ECU. There will also be either 5227M, 5230M, or 5233M on the tags. These are the ends of the part numbers of the EUPs and don't need to be entered

Are you installing a block heater in the hole or are you reinstalling/replacing the plug?

I read some information from volvo today claiming that with a properly spec'd wheelbase, which reduces the distance between tractor and trailer (the article claims 40" between the back of cab skin and the front of the trailer is optimum), that an instantaneous gain of 2.5% can be had. The article went on to claim that a full roof fairing can increase fuel economy by 10-15% and side fairings by 2%.

I think they're still available from Mack. Federal Mogul/FP Diesel should have a part equal to OEM quality if the parts aren't available through Mack. PAI to maybe.
-
I know that Mack used some Holset compressors but can't remember seeing an engine with one. I imagine it was an option that didn't have widespread acceptance.
-
Mostly just a visual inspection involving checking for bulging, cracking, splitting. or distortion of the casing. I would imagine that the same checks made for Cummins or Detroit would be more than adequate for Mack's dampners. I'm not sure who builds the MP/volvo engine dampners, but I remember reading that back when Holset was independent, back before they were making turbos and compressors, they were the supplier that volvo had chosen for their dampners. If I remember correctly that was why Cummins bought Holset in the first place, in order to get their foot in the door at volvo.
-
ReMack engines come with a warning label to check the dampner before installing it on a rebuilt engine, but I don't think they give any specific criteria for replacement.

I don't think they will until they start having to do the rework! Our's never have.

No sir, that certainly isn't a factory bend!

As I've always understood it the cal code provides a base line measurement that the engine uses for calculating fueling at idle. Most times it doesn't have much of an effect as far as running, but I have seen it cause the engine to run like it had a race cam installed too. I don't know for sure what kind of an effect it would have on fuel usage. Save the serial number information and the code just in case you need them later, they sometimes get hard to read after a while. I think you can call Mack OneCall and have them enter that information on the Mack mainframe for you so that the information is there if needed by a shop while you're on the road.

Sorry, that information was incorrect, I looked at the sheet for the AI 460. The range for the AC 460P is 1550-1650 RPM. In the 1300-1400 RPM range you are in the peak torque range but only running around 410 HP.

Nice Looking R-Model!

I kind of like the Aquafresh look of the paint job. -
The spec sheet for that engine shows the sweet spot at 1650-1750 RPM.

It's asking for a fleet or owner's password. Try clicking the "OK" button on the password window and see if it will go through. It may come back up again, do the same thing and see if it will program the parameters, if not a dealership will need to reprogram the ECU datafiles to remove the password.

No way 16 hours unless you have a whole bunch of stuff in the way that has to be removed to gain access to the transmission. Make sure they replace the range fork set screw and the yoke retaining bolt-they are one time use items and have a tendency to loosen. A broken pin usually means something else is broken (rear motor mounts, u-joints, etc).

Basically 90 percent or more of the trucks in my area are off road (way off road) and the epoxy definitely holds up better than the OEM job. Can't hardly beat the Duralite though.
