  1. It didn't but there were alot stuck in behind 237's over the years,but since they think it's a R700,it hard to tell.

  3. there were only 40 R738's built from '81 to '84,so my guess would be a Formula 270 or 290,
  4. Hit wrong button,didn't get to finish. All Maxidynes were painted gold until Mack had to quit using the gold engine paint in late '79 but continued with the gold dog signifying Maxidyne power until '81 when the Econodyne engines began production. Then all Macks had chrome dogs again until the Elite package CH and CL trucks had gold dogs again,roughly '93 or so. Then about a year or so later Mack brought back the gold dog to signify an all Mack pedigree drivetrain and continues to do so .
  5. You have a chrome dog because in 1993,Mack hadn't brought the gold Bulldog out of retirement yet,The gold dog started with the introduction of the Maxidyne engine,all Maxidyne powered Macks had gold Bulldogs

  8. They built 3 RL771LST's (aluminum frame with V12 Detroit power) and 7 RS771LST's (steel frame with V12 Detroit power)
  9. Look at your VIN #,if its a RS795LST,then it had the ENDT 865 Maxidyne V8,if its a RS797LST,it had the ENDT866 Thermodyne V8
  10. A. Good older V8's are getting very scarce and usually guys that do have them are ones that won't part with them.You didn't mention which one you want,the 865 or 866. Transmissions are not a problem. B. They made a handful of V12 powered western R's,the RS771 and RL771,,but you are talking major modifications to fit one in a non-factory V12 truck,mainly the cowl extension,extra air cleaner,and all your engine mounts. Not saying it's impossible,anything is with money and talent. C. If you have steel rails now and want to go to aluminum,,I don't know where you would ever get new rails,your best bet would be to find a truck with a good frame and build it.
  11. if he gets everything fixed,gonna drive it.It runs 65 mph really easy and drives good too , I'm hoping the oil leak isn't anything too serious,he was pretty sure it was a gasket that's between the block and bellhousing. I guess on the older Cummins engines,there was a cork gasket for something under there . It had a little drip when we stopped in town to put in fuel,I didn't think it looked to serious,we were only going 45 miles,it was full of oil and I've driven old trucks with leaking rear mains that dripped worse. but by the time we were 2/3rds of the way there,the Jake quit and oil pressure dropped a little,so Mikey pulled over and it had oil everywhere. Still just a drip at idle. Dumped in a couple gallon and pressure came back so we limped it in the last 15 miles. Probably shoulda worried about the oil leak first,but we had to get the parts truck off the trailer I'd borrowed so I could get it returned,so did the hub swap first.

  13. Here's the G73 with it's new look. I haven't decided if the 24.5's are gonna stay or not,just what I had mounted and handy for now.It has 24.5 spokes on the rear already,so these would be a match,but I also have a set of NOS 10:00x22 tires and a nice set of polished 22" Alcoas I been saving for something, and I also have some old 5 hole 22.5 Alcoas. Gotta worry about that when I get it home. It developed a major oil leak on the trip to my buddy's shop,so he's gonna get it traced down and fixed and do a little other tinkering on it while it's there,hopefully be ready for ATHS convention in Springfield ,MO next month.
  14. He's southwest of me in Franklin,IA. As far as I know it's always been a tractor,has a winch behind the cab that was on it when Randy bought it.. I have one that used to be a mixer in the St. Louis area,I'll try to remember to look at the doors and see what company name was.
  15. If you want to part with one,I'm sure you could name your price. He's pretty proud of his little B42 and the work its done. It's been repowered by a V6 GMC gas engine. I suggested that maybe it was time to trade it to me for an R model,but that ain't happening,yet anyways.
  16. Got the front hubs off the G733 to put on my good G73. Got it home and unloaded.Looks goofy now with painted up spokes on the front.
  17. No,those won't work for what he needs,the 77 series is the " baby quad" that fits the gas engines. But I know someone that might be interested in yours,Brian. What do you want for them?
  18. A friend of mine has a '57 B42 he uses in his house moving business,and needs a new transmission. It has a TRQ77 , a 770 would work also. Needs ASAP.
