  1. About 6 weeks ago we had the Rawhide my son drives down getting a new clutch installed,so he was driving my beloved blue Super Mutt and it decided to start knocking. Been swamped so haven't had time to tear it down as of yet,but we are thinking a broken piston. Up till now the old Cummins had performed well for me,but it is nearing 3 million miles on this block andwho knows how many overhauls,so I'm thinking its time for a change. After being in the little Super Pup for nearly a year now,I've really been enjoying the better fuel economy and the just plain unprecedented Mack stamina of the E6-350 as compared to the 400 Cummins. So should I rebuild the current engine, find another Cummins and replace it or repower with a Mack ? Money is not the issue, because I have none,so I'll be going to the bank no matter what I do. I know I'll have to change a lot of stuff to go to a Mack engine, but I have donor trucks,so that isn't an issue either. It's not going to get the miles it used to as I will be alternating between the 2 Superliners, that's one factor . Just fishing for opinions or advice from anyone that's done a Cummins to Mack swap.

  5. I must be warped,I remember the year, specs, and VIN number of every Mack I've ever worked.
  6. I almost had this truck bought a few years back when it had been traded to Milwaukee Mack.I called about it and the salesman emailed me several pics, plus a sheet of all the work had been done. I called back and told them I would be up that Sat. to look at it, but was told the truck was currently on hold,as the previous owner was not happy with the Vision he traded for and wanted it back. About 3 weeks later they called back and said it was again available for sale. Was haggling with one salesman over $500 and another salesman sold it for $15000. Stan Lehman owns it now.
  7. I have a '79 F that had budds. Before I got it bought from the Mack dealer, they had swapped the front hubs out with a '90 or '91 CH that had spokes,so i'd say yes definitely, they should swap.

  10. Nice trucks, I'd be proud to have them in my fleet, too.
  11. Bulldog stand intact, that's a major hurdle right there. As much grief as my EF has caused me,going to a non original engine is a good thought. I'm searching for something different myself.

  14. Looks like it fits a L cab to me,how much??
  15. I have a '73 R685ST # 30384, so I'd say it is entirely possible your truck could be titled a '74,most likely built in the year 1973.
  16. you looking for one of the old Detroit powered R773's or the later Mack powered single axles ? Truck repair in Ft. Madison ,Ia has one of the later ones in their junkyard , unless it went in the last clean up.
