  1. Sure wish you'd keep it awhile,at least long enough for me to scrounge up $6k,LOL. How about trading for my 759?
  2. I saw that too, nice looking set up.
  3. The RD was most likely born as a dump tuck,so it will have factory heavy axles and frame, where if the CH was a tractor, the frame will have been(hopefully)beefed up,which is fine if done right, but if not troubles in the future. And a lot of times they don't bother putting heavier front springs. The only thing that would be the con for me anyway would be the 7 speed.I never understood why they went with the hi overdrive and 5 something rears, always thought the 6 speed direct with 4:17's were the perfect set up,myself.
  4. go with the RD. Chances are pretty good the CH started life as a road tractor, since it's air ride. The Camelback is much better for dump work.
  5. Welcome. I have 3 B-53's myself.2 1964's that are consectutive serial numbers and a 1965,all from the same company.
  6. No,it was a standard option. My big blue '86 and my '87 Freedom both have the red interior.
  7. Don't you have any larger truck tire dealers close by? That would be your best bet for decent takeoffs. Most places don't like to sell used tires to be used as steers because of liability. I used to sell quite a few used tires to local farmers for their straight trucks, but I wouldn't ever sell them used steer tires for that reason. Sold a guy a decent pair of drive tires and saw them a week later on the steer axle of his old Fleetstar straight truck, that put an end to me selling anymore tires privately. Now if I have any decent ones that I can't use,I'll sell them to my tire guy.
  8. Got my magneto back, but I screwed up when I took it off and forgot to mark it so it will be timed right. Are there timing marks on the flywheel? If so are they hard to find?
  9. Sorry to hear about your friend, sounds like a bad deal, but at least he went doing something he enjoyed, and not rotting in a hospital bed. Enjoy your Superliner,I'm sure that's the way he would have wanted it.
  10. good eye,Ernie,I didn't notice that the first time..
  11. I'd like to have him out here, but I'm afraid since I have a daughter his age,the trucks might not hold his attention long.
  12. Yes,GMC Generals are now on the "in" list,Astros,Titan 90's,Bisons.
  13. I wouldn't be scared of new, because you are going to have warranty. The way it was "explained" to me was that I was over 5 years in service with the truck, which is well and good ,but I still find it totally unacceptable for a Mack transmission to fail with less than 500k and I sure as hell would hope that they would too and want to keep a customer happy. Peterbilt will be your best friend until the ink dries on your check.
  14. You noticed I left U models off the list, saving those for you to work on,Vinny. With a little luck, there might be a 3rd U here sometime, still waiting to see.
  15. She can come here anytime and work on a Superliner,or R model,B model,F model,C model,H model,G model,AC,LJ,whatever she wants to tackle. Always looking for good help.
  16. That's why I don't do carpenter work, sure I could do it half assed, maybe I'd screw something up bad, maybe not,and have several excuses why,but I'd rather leave it to someone that knows what they are doing.
  17. A few years ago, yes, but the bigger money now is for the newer '60's to '70s 40 to 45 ft.SS trailers,as the collectors are getting younger & shifting towards the later model stuff,R's and Superliners,F models,Cruiseliners,W900a's, 359's,other 'late 60's to early '80's stuff.
  18. something similar, tandem axle, pretty straight sides your are talking 2 to 4 k depending condition and on the area. Most I've seen sell usually bring at least 3k.
  19. if you have more pics, send them to me if you ain't interested in it.
  20. I never had engine problems, but had a Mack transmission fail in a 2007 at 480k miles that Mack wouldn't cover one dime on. The DSM didn't help either. In the 40+ years we've ran Macks, never ever did spend a dime on a Mack transmission or rear end, other than maybe a leaking seal. That was over a year ago and I'm still pissed.
  21. I'm dead serious,I've got a couple Triplexes here that it's happened to.,and know of several more. A friend of mine in MO finally had to put a RTO9513 in his R611 after his new driver blew his apart.
  22. Made me cringe just listening. You better start carrying a couple 5 gallon buckets to put the pieces in when the bottom of the back case blows out.
