  1. That happens more often than you think.Only time I ever ran a truck out of fuel,my first CH,a '91 I bought used, had a fuel heater in the left (draw)tank,so they moved the fuel guage to the right tank.Vent plugged up sucked the left tank dry whileshowing I had 3/8 of a tank, which I did in the right.Never trusted a fuel guage since.
  2. one thing about this R model has me puzzled, there is absolutely no room for a grill of any kind, the ATTAC is tight against the hood opening.Must either has wrong hood or wrong ATTAC.
  3. That's a nice tractor,wonder if it's an original KT truck?
  4. The 2 with bunks are mine, green '85 and blue '86,the other 2 belong to friends, the yellow one is a '89,the lighter blue one is early '85 ,it has a E9.This was after the 4th of July parade a couple years ago. no the green one has 11R24.5's front and back

  6. glad to hear you got it home, nice addition to your collection
  7. I never get tired of seeing pics of your family's old trucks,Ron.You guys had a helluva nice fleet.
  8. My first thoughts were to pull the engine for my white '88 Superliner, and use the rears for my '74 RS795,then sell the rest as a glider, but when we got it home and I scraped the dirt off and found out it had 4:42's,that kinda blew that idea,at least for the rear ends.Maybe somebody will come along that wants it real bad.
  9. Mikey & I just got home with this one,1986 R686ST,local contractor had it for a lowboy tractor, but parked it 5 years ago with transmission problems. It was just up the road about 5 miles so we decided if it would run,we'd try driving it home, figured it's a Mack,it will make it one way or another.Put in some fresh batteries and a little shot of ether and she fired right up.Took a little rocking to get it out of the spot it had settled down into but she evidently wanted to come home with us and finally worked up out of the ruts.Old girl runs good, but has issues in the hi side of the transmission, syncro's I'm guessing,it's a T2090,has a E6-300,4:42's on Camelback, budd wheels, body is pretty good, interior is a little rough.Damn near brand new Holland 5th wheel, air ride cab, decent tires, but they are lo pro.22.5's,so she ain't too speedy .
  10. that's not a very popular ratio,if they were 3:86 or 4:17,you get rid of them in no time.
  11. That's weird, never seen an R model door do that.Pretty common to have them not be able to open from the inside,Had one on my Freedom go bad one time, got so used to opening one from the outside,I kept doing it even after I'd fixed it.
  12. any auto glass shop can cut new ones for you.
  13. It ain't easy but it can be done.Broke the clutch cable on my '76 R model one time, managed to make it to Burlington, get unloaded and back home to the shop.Had to shut it off and start it by just getting it in gear by the time it fired.ain't something I'd want to do everyday, but it worked.
  14. I'll do some measuring and let you know.I've seen "II" hoods put on "I's" but never the other way around.
  15. no,seriously there are 21 smashed Ford Escorts on that load.Usually I'd smash about 3 loads before I'd start hauling them off,so I could kinda "fit" the loads together for maxium payload, cause I just had a 40 footer. One week there were several Escorts so I saved a bunch back and made a full load of them.
  16. it's been stretched,it had a liquid tank on it.
  17. Love the green one.I'd bet the Smith truck is really a Brockway, never seen a Mack with 5 spoke wheels.
