Original 77 RS700L from 'Convoy'
Superdog replied to Whiskymack's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
That truck and the one Dan restored are 2 different trucksThe one Dan restored was actually a mix of parts from one or 2 of the movie trucks that were wrecked, and a completely different RS700. I don't know if his website is still up,but it went into great detail on the build and all the trucks used to film the movie. He later acquired the one pictured above that had been turned into a dumptruck, but sold it and it now belongs to an active member of this forum (not me). Dan recently sold the restored truck and it now resides in GA,I believe. -
That radiator was only 3 weeks in use,Swishy, brand new custom made 5 core.Only thing not new was the top tank and shroud. $2600 turned into $150 worth of scrap.

That LTL is solid as a rock,he got a good find there. I hope things go well to,we are taking it to Housby Mack in Des Moines, they have a really good body shop and the main guy has been there for years,so he's seen his share of R model cabbed trucks. They do all my friend Chad's trucks.

My Grandpa had 2 IH single axle tractors the same model as the firetruck,I'd really love to have one someday to paint up like one of them.

He's really proud of that old White. Heres how it looked a couple years ago.Last year he strecthed it with a air ride clip, which had budds,I had an old '73 western Star I was junking with a budd front axle so he got the front swapped to budds too, then he got the sleeper from me also, just got finished putting it on. It's got that early '80's,outlaw steel hauler look to it.

Went and checked out my friends new purchase, this was the LJthat was on Craigslist,it's damn good shape, cardboard glovebox still intact, whole truck solid as a rock. Runs sweet. This old IH was at a farm I was hauling from. Unloaded beside this little KW,ex-US Air Force tractor Dump on the left belongs to a friend of mine Tinkered a little with one of the twin Superliners, this one's gonna need some work. I was going to see if it would run,but some of the lines were gone from the pump, missing oil fill tube, alternator gone.Interior is a real mess. This one might just be a lawn ornament for now.

Better day yesterday
Superdog replied to Superdog's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I wish I had someone taping when I pulled that 1st truck off the trailer,it was pure luck it went well. one front tirewas flat and they had the wheels turned, couldn't turn them straight at first,so got a block under the bumper & used the bed of rollback to lift front end enough to turn wheels straight. They had the drive wheels hanging over to the right a little to far,but I just started winching,Mikey and the guy hauling stood way back out of the way,and I just let it slowly pull off the other truck until it droppped onto the trailer, nothing to it. -
if it's still in truck and you know for fact it's original engine, look at model # of the truck. for example if its in a R model ,a 676 would be R686 and a 300+ would be a R612

Some Superliner Pics.

These twins came home yesterday. 1979 RWS786LST44986 & 44990. Custom built for Manatt's Inc.of Brooklyn,IA & sold by F&W Mack of Cedar Rapids,IA. I don't know how many they had,but I remember these trucks pulling bulk cement tankers hauling corn into GPC,you didnt want to get stuck behind one unloading,as it took awhile for them to blow the corn off. They spent their next life working in a large feedlot in Carroll,IA ,where they didn't get much love. Specs are ENDT676 Maxidynes,5 speeds,4:17 Mack rears on Camelback. -

Had a good day yesterday, didn't have time to think of all my troubles. I already knew Rob & family were coming up from MO to get some parts for Jackies A54,so had that planned. Late Friday nite my son called to tell me the guy that had traded me for my 1950 Chevy last year was finally coming after it,also. He was bringing me 2 well used 1979 RWS786 Superliners & as a bonus as 1981 RS686 Valueliner. It was a slight challenge to get the first one unloaded but when you have a R model Mack rollback,no challenge (so far) is too great, Was just finishing when Rob arrived, they took me to lunch and we got Jackies new axle loaded just before it rained. Rob and his boys did a little picking in one of my storage trailers and I found a A54 emblem for Jackie,we ad a short but good visit and then they had to head home.
