  1. No,Grandpa sold it on a Taylor&Martin auction in Peoria,IL in the late '80's and I lost track of it. VIN was WL786LST38709 if anybody runs across it.
  2. Yes it was one of Del's,no I didn't get it from him.Larry Gwinn from Brooklyn,IA had it for around 17 years,he traded it at F&W Mack in Cedar Rapids, then a farmer bought it,he traded it at H&L Mack for an old Nelson MH613,I bought it from H&L for $500,pull started it and drove it home.
  3. Dad pissed off alot of the "big boys" with his '72 V8 F model, especially in the hills.
  4. Sure is sad Mack doesn't have a big line up like that todayWhat is there 6 models to choose from now?CHU,CXU,MRU,LEU,Titan and Granite, did I miss any?
  5. This is our first Cruiseliner and the first Mack I ever drove.Dad got it new in Dec.1977. These are the Cruiseliners I have today. '83 WS747LST,Big Cam 3 Formula 300 Cummins,9 speed '79 WS786LST,300,5 speed '75 WS786LST,300,5 speed
  6. Actually, the Cruiseliner only replaced the Western FL/FS,they kept making eastern built F models right up till '81 when they moved production of the Cruiseliner to Macungie. We had 4 Cruiseliners 3 '78's and a '80, 300 with 5 speeds, one had a 6 speed.I put alot of miles in them in my "driving school" days. The were good trucks, drove good, rode decent for a cabover, kinda drafty in the winter(needed more insulation in the front and better heaters, but what cabover of the ime didn't).I remember the biggest thing was the shifter set up ,the set screws in the "gear box" on the shift tower would work loose and they'd get sloopy shifting if you didn't stay on top of it,grille screws would rattle out, occassional rivet would pop out, plastic dog house cover would crack in the older ones, dash would fall apart in the last ones.Headliner would crack.Alot of these things could be cured by adding a air ride cab, which few did.
  7. $700??? the bed is worth that, you done good, even if it is a Ford. Here's my new pickup, got it the 1st of the year. 2010 Dodge Big Horn,Cummins power, even has a engine brake.Had 107k on it.
  8. Radiator cap access door,a rare option on the Western's.
  9. anyone else notice the caption in the U model and Valueliner pics? "Not available for export". That RD800 pic has been a favorite of mine since it was on the calender 30 years ago.
  10. no,it's not Canadian, came from an O/O in Illinois,we bought it at Flag City Mack
  11. Sorry to hear of the outcome, just goes to show how f ' d up our country is & becoming worse everyday.
  12. Thanks,Al.Don't remember what it brought,do you?I bid it up to $1000 or so.
  13. Dad had a '72 F795 and Grandpa had '68 F685 at the time, both straightpiped. Our dealer let us have one of the "300 Series" gold demonstrators for a week, thought it sounded like a jet plane.
  14. There was part of one on Ebay a few years ago,I had saved pics and the serial # but they got lost a couple computer crashes ago.It was rough, said to run,cut off behind fuel tanks.
  15. I haven't yet,but it's on my list.I've been sending in 5 or 6 a year.I was told it spent most of it's life in CA pulling double cattle trailers.I've had it about 8 years now.
  16. Cool truck with great history. If you want it to look brand new,I'd try Matt Pfahl in CT.
  17. A few of my B models also had an "Emergency Engine Stop",same round pull cable set up,located in the lower left corner of the dash.
