  1. Had a good day yesterday, didn't have time to think of all my troubles. I already knew Rob & family were coming up from MO to get some parts for Jackies A54,so had that planned. Late Friday nite my son called to tell me the guy that had traded me for my 1950 Chevy last year was finally coming after it,also. He was bringing me 2 well used 1979 RWS786 Superliners & as a bonus as 1981 RS686 Valueliner. It was a slight challenge to get the first one unloaded but when you have a R model Mack rollback,no challenge (so far) is too great, https://youtu.be/FzXnO_djVjs Was just finishing when Rob arrived, they took me to lunch and we got Jackies new axle loaded just before it rained. Rob and his boys did a little picking in one of my storage trailers and I found a A54 emblem for Jackie,we ad a short but good visit and then they had to head home.

  4. I think it's time I either dust off my stool at the local tavern or check into a padded room,as I really don't know how much more I can take. My blood pressure and blood sugar has really been screwed up lately, with being laid up last Dec.,then again in March, plus the engine disaster in my son's truck. Supposed to get my knee cut on but now they wnt to delay that til my blood pressure is under control, more damn pills . Now to top it all off, I was having a decent day, pretty stress free, looking forward to a long weekend, then a call from my son,a damn pickup full of Mexicans pulls smack in front of him and he hits them, hood trashed, shoved back into cab, cowl bent, windheild broke, cab shove back into sleeper, radiator shove into enngine, they take off without stopping, but only manage to make it a few blocks away, siting here waiting for the wrecker to drop truck off.top of my head about ready to come of,don't know whether to cry,fly or die. Sorry for rant.
  5. Saw this on FB,anyone notice the highly customized G model at 7:03? I'd love to see more pics and info on that one.
  6. Just found out a guy I know bought this LJ. He drives for Walmart and this is his 1st old truck. going up Sunday to look it over,I'll take lots of pics.
  7. That's a USA truck,I met it on I80 a year ago, west bound pulling a stepdeck. Owner was from MN or WI,can't remember,we were both commenting on each other's trucks. I realize I'm getting blind in my old age,but I can't see the steering wheel in either pic.

  9. Went and looked at this old '66 R model a local farmer wants rid of,waiting to hear back on my offer. he had this old tandem Chevy there, too.Still uses it. A wreck right up the road from my house. Saw this old Dodge Power Giant, these were powered by the big IH V8 gassers from the factory. Went to visit an old friend had some help doing chores Felt the need for a little Triplex therapy so I took the old '68 R607 out to get a drink. I'd forgotten it had the angled dash guages. Yesterday when I stopped to visit,my friend's daughter gave my the museum packet for this truck and the '78 Valueliner that I bought from them. This truck was one of an order of 14 for General Transfering of Decatur,IL,sold by Glatz Truck & Trailer ,the Mack dealer in Decatur at the time. I found it interesting that they were ordered with tubeless 11:22.5 tires and also 165" wheelbase. Thought that sounded pretty long for a midwest freight hauler back then.
  10. Good luck, seems like very few survived, and if you do find one, like Mike said, they are too rare to give up.
  11. that's a nice litle B model
  12. A bunch. Probably 170 .
  13. Doing a little tinkering, got the thumbscrews soaked up and turning on the air cleaner, working on oil filter and getting broken bolt for Bulldog mount out of radiator top. Took him by to visit with his cousin, going to name these 2 Crusher & Bruiser. Some of you old timers like me might understand, especially if you're from Milwaukee or Indianapolis.
  14. Don't know which made me hungrier, the bacon pizza or the GMC.
  15. Trying to get a few things done in between rain showers,I'd like to get the B815 ready for Walcott show in July. When we unloaded it Sat.a.m.,had to give it a short shot of ether to get it to fire. It started and ran fine for 10 minutes while we unchained it but died when we tried to back it off & wouldn't start. I checked fuel tanks and it didn't smell too good so I told Mikey to check fuel filter. Sometime in its life someone added a dual spin on fuel filter head to the firewall & an electric lift pump. The filters were nasty, what I dumped was mostly water & rusty looking shot, plus one had a small hole in it. Changed those & with another small snort of ether it fired up and ran fine, problem solved I thought. Next time I went to start it I had to give it another shot of ether to make it fire, then it ran fine. I let it run awhile & drove it around a little, then shut it off & tried to start it right back up,no go without ether. I know these pumps were troublesome, but knock on wood I'd never had any issues with any of my other 864's. Anyone have any ideas other than stock up on ether?
  16. I'm talking to Barry about getting some new B815 emblems made by his new supplier. Anyone else need any? The more we have made, the cheaper they get,he thought they would do a run as small as 4,that would be around $100 each, more than that they could do better. I have one good enough for the pattern, and I'm in for 2 new ones,so just need to get at least 2 more spoke for so he can go ahead.
  17. If it's a setback axle,I'd say it was tires, everyone I ever had, once even the slightest amount of irregular where started, the damn thing would get the shakes,Got to where I'd replace front tires every 50k or so and put them on trailer.

  20. W71 Mack
  21. gotta be a typo,the B72 was a long hood gasser,I couldn't read the emblems,but I'm guessing its a B75 firetruck,repowered with a diesel.
  22. Was that by chance a green one that sold on Ebay several years ago really really cheap
  23. it's a ST model so it wouldn't have been built real heavy, all looks to be original, not thrilled about the wedge brakes, but they seem to work so I'll live with them for now. No I didn't,my screw up.
