  1. A '78 would have a real VIN #,for example R686ST12345,not the 17 digit BS that we have a book to decode .
  2. Finally got the kid's new truck on the road, had a delay in getting the title and he had to get all his "goodies" robbed off the wrecked one.
  3. not in the early seventies it wasn't,at least around here.1st tan/beige interior I saw was in the '75 F786ST Grandpa bought new .Dad,s '72 F795ST had the dark green, fully upholestered interior, armrest for the riders seat, power RH window, wood grain dash panels, the whole nine yards. We also had a '68 F685ST Grandpa bought used right after the '72 and the only upholstery it had was the seat cushions and the sleeper curtain, which were dark green, rest of the interior was the lighter green used at that time. Wish I could find one or both of those old F models. The '68 got traded in '78 and went to NC.They sold the '72 at a Taylor & Martin auction in Kansas City in 1979.The '75 was wrecked in '79,rebuilt and sold.It went thru 3 more owners, ran up into the mid '90's then glider kitted and the remains were scrapped.
  4. Here's a few of mine.Pics ain't real great. An old HO scale Ulrich H-61 Lensey/Matchbox AC 1/48th scale? Custom made 1/64th replica of my '86 Superliner with a DCP Wilson pot HO scale Ertl Granite snowplow Tried to take some of the trucks in cases and shelves but they were alll too dark.have to get somebody that can take better pics.
  5. I liked the tan interior, but my favorite was the blue diamond tucked deluxe interior for the Superliner and Valueliner.I liked the old dark green interior like Dad had in his F model too.
  6. didn't our buddy Jack end up with Celli's last B75?? If I remember right he painted it black and peddled it.
  7. I don't think this guy could buy a 98 cent Hot Wheels car at Walmart.I wouldn't let it bother anyone.
  8. I don't think I qualify as a youngster anymore,45 but most days I feel like I'm 65,but still act like I'm 20. I really don't understand how they could not have any interest in trucks.I grew up riding with my Dad and Grandpa, and can't imagine ever not having trucks in my life.I guess in my case I've overdosed,as my wife calls me a "Mackahaulic".
  9. Watch Ebay for your manuals, sometimes they show up pretty cheap. My aunt & uncle lived in Wahipahu while he was in the Navy.Never made it over to visit them.Love to go there someday,as soon as they get a bridge built.
  10. Almost forgot, the transmission has a 2 year, unlimited mileage warranty from Mack.It was put in middle of Oct.'12.Also put in new carrier bearings when trans. was done.
  11. There's another guy that has a pretty sweet '84 Valueliner,he's had it since it was new.I'll try to get a pic of it sometime. There's a couple guys still running R models, but they aren't really well cared for, lots of CH's and Visions, some of them are really sharp if you go for that kinda truck.
  12. There's all kinda low life scammers out there.I got nailed for a little over $8000 last year by a scumbag crew from MO.They stopped by wanting to buy scrap, and I was wanting to get my other property cleaned up some.I'd checked with a couple local scrappers,as I didn't have time to do it myself and they pissed me off,so I thought I'd give these guys a chance.I gave them an area to haul off, they did a good job,got paid every day for what they hauled. So I kept giving them more to haul away, they started getting a little behind in paying, always had an excuse. The last day they were there,I got $500 from them, but they were going to get caught up the next week, they had brought up a couple more trailers and were going to work all weekend, they filled everything they had and bailed out that night and I never saw them again. The law said I couldn't prove anything against them, but I will get even someday,if I gotta turn MO upside down to find them.
  13. the trucks in the left are in the staging area for the probe station,I'd been there 2 1/2 hours and started out sitting along the shoulder about a mile back by the time I reached this point
  14. This is the view I had most of the week. California comes to Iowa This poor Pete owner spent so much on his stacks he couldn't afford to fix his air horns
  15. Wrecked 2007 Rawhide Edition CHN613,E7-460 480 hp.,489K miles, approx. 3k miles on factory rebuilt Mack 18 speed trans.,44k Mack rears on air ride,3:94 ratio. Truck was laid over on right side and declared totaled by the insurance company. We removed some of the damaged items while swapping parts onto it's replacement and I don't think the cab damage is near as bad as they said(they said it needed new cab,but they only went by pics, never inspected it in person,WTF???)It has rear corner damage where the stack pushed in and the windshield post is slightly tweaked.I had a local body man look it over and he said it was very repairable. The door is undamaged. The sleeper,70" midrise, has minor skin damage on side and on back where the headache rack rubbed it.He said the hood looked repairable, also, but will need alot of work around the headlight and grille area.Right fuel tank is dented but would pop out.The truck ran for a few minutes while on it's side but we've ran Lucas in it religiously,I'm guessing at most it would need the bearings checked to be safe.So much for the damage. We removed the following to put on the replacement truck, tires & wheels(it has 6 steel wheels and roller tires on it now),half fenders, fifth wheel, trim under sleeper and cab, tool boxes, headache rack, deck plate, sunvisor, and rear light bar & mudflaps.I have the other trim(it didn't have chicken lights, the wrecked one did),sunvisor(short stainless)and fifth wheel(had too short of pedastal) that will go with truck. It also has an APU,but the box will need replaced/repaired.It also needs a bumper, but I have a new takeoff I had for a spare that I'd include for an extra $700. We had the truck almost 2 years,it was a very, very clean, dependable strong running truck,it had a new air compressor recently, new oil filter tower gasket, and recent new rear brakes. Asking $20,000 OBO. Will provide pics to SERIOUS buyers. This is a chance for someone that does there own work to get a damn nice Rawhide, cheap. This pic is was taken at the Walcott truck show last July. This is the way this truck always looked.
  16. I been going to bring this up for awhile but keep forgetting. The '88 Superliner I bought in Dec. has a hard plastic dash, instead of the vinyl covered foam that every other R,U,Superliner that I have or ever been around has.At least it's the first I've noticed, anyway. When was this option first available, anybody know? Personally,I think it's a good deal,as I've seen so many otherwise nice interior's marred by cracks in the soft dash covering, exposing the foam beneath.
  17. daycab WS with a KT450,wouldn't that be fun to have at a truck pull???Several years ago I remember a short sleeper Cruiseliner on a Tayor&Martin auction, set up for heavy haul,KT450,heavy front & rears with a lift axle.Used to be 3 daycab's around here that filtered down from Michigan that had 325 V8's and air 6 speeds, the last 2 got scrapped 2 years ago.
  18. same problem here,I'm tubeless rim poor at the moment.Helped too many farmers convert their straight trucks from 10:00x20's.
  19. Even though I liked the looks of the new interior, the dash self destructed. The old interior held up alot better, worse part about those was the plastic doghouse cover.Headliner was prone to cracking also.Best thing you could do to a Cruiseliner,be it a I or !! was put on a airide cab.
