  1. Somewhere a long time ago I read a story about these Corbitt's.Seems that a trucking company by the name of Turner rebuilt at least one LJ Mack into a homemade cabover, repowering it with a English Gardner diesel. Then Corbitt sent there engineers to look it over and they came up with their cabover. Then, supposedly Mack engineers looked over the Corbitt and came up with the H-61.Anybody else remember seeing that article??
  2. Hooked to our short trailer, '05 Wilson 51' cattle pot. Loading beans pulling our '11 Timpte Hauling the '46 Brockway on my '96 TrailKing 48' dropdeck Unknown owner, oversized load parked for the weekend
  3. I'd hate to think what this one cost new,$15k + I'd bet.I gave $525 for this one,the guy bidding against me wanted it for a deer blind.
  4. Runs, drives, pulls great, ain't used a drop of oil, rides nice, definately a Superliner.I'm really pleased with it.Wish I could say the same about my shoulder.Just one more pain I gotta learn to live with I guess.
  5. They sold it as a 90",I haven't measured it yet ,but that's gotta be close
  6. yep
  7. Last Sat. outside the 18 Wheeler Truck Wash,Exit 292 of I-80 in Davenport,IA,don't look too bad wet.
  8. bought this at the auction yesterday, ain't decided what I'm going to put it on yet,but at least I'll have a nice big place to live next time the wife kicks me out for bringing home more old trucks.
  9. I'd sure keep it if I were you.
  10. Yes it did,I was real pleased.I'd say your buddy coulda made a couple thousand on the one he bought if it had been on the sale. There were 15 hoppers from 2010 to 1981,the good older hoppers actually sold better than the newer ones.My '91 Wilson brought within $3750 of a 2001 Wilson.
  11. The ATHS forum is stil alive and hopefully on its way to recovery, time will tell. I wouldn't say the new forum has no more BS,just a different kind.
  12. People still ask me that same question and I just say thank God I never had to find out.
  13. Pretty sure you are right,Matt. There was a pic of one in one of the B model Archives books.
  14. yep,Jerry Howard has the B75 radiator one and Iowa 80 has the one with the cast iron radiator
  15. Went to the monthly US Auctioneers truck auction today in Bettendorf,IA to watch a grain trailer I consigned sell.Sure do feel sorry for anybody that sends a Volvo to these auctions, saw a pair of 2006 Volvo day cabs bring $8k apiece, while a '03 CH daycab brought $16750.That sure says alot, don't it. Only 6 macks on the sale,'04 Vision,460,13 speed,56" flattop sleeper brought $17500,'04 Vision daycab 355/380 Maxicruise,9 speed, brought $16500. '03 CH daycab setback axle,400,10 speed, brought $16750.'02 CH set forward axle daycab,427,10 speed, brought $18250.Pretty rough '00 Vision,330/355 Maxicruise,9 speed,70" midroof brought $8k,and a '01 RD with a 20' grain box brought $28000. Didn't buy any trucks today, but did buy a 90" Double Eagle sleeper, think I'll make a camper out of one of my R models.
  16. That's another thing that I miss about the good old days, the ingenuity and resourcefulness of some guys to keep stuff on the road and working.

  20. my B-81 is on 22"' Budds
  21. At first we were all set to get rid of it,but now I'm on the fence. When we had it in the shop yesterday,we took off the right stack and got a good look at the cab,it's not near as bad as it looked.Had a good local bodyman come look and he thinks he can fix the damage for way less than the estimate, was even pretty confident he could fix the hood. Soon as I get some more time, going to drop the pan and check the engine, had more than one person tell me that where we'd been running Lucas in the oil and for no longer than it ran on it's side, chances are very good it may only need bearings, just as a precaution. If that's the case, don't know what I'm going to do.
  22. Pulled the wrecked one in the shop today and Travis and I pulled all the tires off it,as they were near new and the new trucks tires were pretty thin, had to dig thru the junk tire pile and find 6 tires to mount on steel rims to put on the wreck,of course they were all full of ice,and for some reason our old impact was acting up and wouldn't bust the nuts loose,so I had to do it by hand,by the time I got done,my back and shoulder were not happy with me at all and they let me know it. Mikey was busy adding chrome shit.He pulled the light panels off and swapped them as the new one had no chicken lights,God forbid. He also took off the fairings on the sleeper, cause he said it makes the truck look shorter with them on.Looks like we are also going to have to swap fifth wheels,as the new one has the short pedastal and won't allow enough clearance between the fenders and the trailer,no sense tearing up a brand new set of stainless fenders. hopefully
