  1. Nothing much worse than a fire.I fell his pain, went thru the same deal in March '85. Good friend of mine lost his shop last week, luckily all his trucks were out except for his V8 Superliner tractor and dump trailer, they were able to get it out with minor damage, but he lost his 1934 Ford AA dumptruck, restored as a replica of his Dad's first truck. His house also sustained major damage as it was connected to the shop by a breezeway.
  2. I've ran several sets of the Michelin caps without problems, most have been my own casings.I've got a set of Bandags on the drives now,so far so good.
  3. I agree,I bought the truck last Friday, and even though they had several calls afterwards, they held it for me till he could pick it up today.I was a little leary about buying it sight unseen other than pictures, but it was very well represented.I would definately recommend them to anyone.
  4. Yep,2007 Rawhide CHN613,460,18 speed Fuller,3:73 Meritor rears,512k on it.Really, really clean with lots of history, hope it will be a good one.Glad I hadn't gotten rid of the wrecked one yet,as there's quite a few things on it,this one doesn't have, that's going to save me a ton of money, but he's already given me a list of extras that's going to hurt for quite awhile. I might add the people at Flag City Mack were super nice to deal with.
  5. Newest member of the fleet,Mikey picked this one up in Findlay,OH this morning.
  6. for the most part, the RW613's had the traditional bumper, the 713's had the heavy duty extended bumper, but I have seen 713's with the standard bumper also.
  7. That Superliner wasn't really a Superliner, but a recabbed RS700.When I saw it listed on OldMacks,I emailed Dennis about it,as I was interested, but told him in no way shape or form was it really a Superliner,as the rame was wrong,VIN was wrong, steering gear location was wrong, etc. I got an email back about how many years he worked for Mack, and he knew this and he knew that and that basically I didn't know what I was talking about. Ironically,a week later the listing was changed calling it a RS700 with Superliner cab and hood fitted. I really think he's been blinded by $$$$.
  8. Too late now,but I have a NOS nose for a H67,think they are the same as the H-63.
  9. That place would have made a good museum.Hope it all went to good homes.
  10. Peck Dean used to have a repair shop in town,he bought a '60's vintage Hedrickson to make into a wrecker, but it never got finished and ended up getting scrapped, but it was a pretty cool old truck, originally gas powered, but repowered with a 6-71,it had a RT915,4 speed Brownie and 3 speed rears. Wayne Johnston in Mediapolis had a '50 something Hendrickson wrecker that was his main unit until he died,it had a RD450 gas in it,it got sold away from here and I lost track of it.
  11. what became of all the other trucks they had?
  12. I remember when that truck made the cover of Bulldog
  13. hope you catch the bastards,I've had more than my share of stuff stolen and feel your pain.
  14. There used to be several Value-Liners with bunks running around here,Audobon Brookheiser Transport(ABT) had several,Grandpa brought one of the last ones out of Hayward for them in '81,Sears in Atkisson,IL had a pair of sharp ones with 36 in Double Eagles,Joe Reich in Versailles,IL had a really nice gold one with a 48 in Able,he ran it for a long time.Wish I'd taken pics back then.A local farmer/trucker just picked one up,really sharp, low miles, heard he was taking the bunk off,go figure.
  15. that lettering looks sharp, but you need to replace the Peterbilt sleeper mounts.
  16. if you would have gotten up earlier and posted it,I might have seen it in time to check out the auction
  17. with that short of wheelbase on camelback,I'll guarantee that bell starts dinging about 40 mph
  18. Better yet,buy it and bring it up here and I'l give you the difference
  19. I never cared for those old Fruehauf and Hobbs hoppers, the cable operated doors were a major PITA and they were prone to cracking at the front. Our first hopper was a '74 Hobbs and by the time Grandpa traded it off in '80 it had been braced and welded several times. The later style weren't a bad looking trailer, though.Never had a Dorsey hopper, there's an older one still around here a farmer has, they weren't the best looking trailer. We did have a Dorsey flat floor, think it was a '71,it was a good old trailer. We've also used Hawkeye's,Merritt's,Wilson and Timpte,Wilson is in my opinion both the best built and best looking, with Timpte running 2nd.
  20. I've got a Mack air ride from a '93 CH,but they are 4:17's,they have budd type hubs
