  1. Trying to buy a B model hood there, but the guy won't ship it.Anybody near there that could help me out?
  2. nice truck,is that the one that was in Lincoln,Neb.?
  3. Somethings screwy there, whenever I've ran Vin #'s to get a bonded title, they've always gave me the last owners name as they MUST be contacted or an attempt must be made to contact them in order to first try and get a duplicate title. This nearly backfired on me once as the last titled owner had not been paid in full by the person I bought the truck from.
  4. Thanks everybody, everything went pretty good.Blew an air bag first load, got an "I told you so" from my son(one of the air bags looked a little old,I said it would be ok for a few short trips, kid said I should change it first).I was able to limp in,get unloaded and limp back without too much trouble.Last trip of the day the braided line from the water pump to the air compressor started leaking where it had rubbed on the AC compressor bracket, got that fixed so all is well.I expected a few issues,as with any old truck with low,low miles, rubber items such as ,tires, hoses and airbags are going to have issues.Probably should change out a couple tires too. Truck drove and ran sweet,I was real happy.Pulls real good. Alot lighter truck than I'm used to,25,000 EW with my Timpte hopper. Shoulder held up OK too,but it let me know it was there on several occasions,be interesting to see how it feels when I wake up.
  5. As I recall,Uncle Jack said it had the IH 5 speed, and a 3 speed brownie, and the original Mack rears.I never got to see it,he lived in Casper,WY.
  6. something smells pretty rotten to me,# 1,he sold you a trailer without having the title ready to hand you and #2 he let you take the trailer home, halfway across the country without paying for it in full, not knowing you from Adam.Did you notice any smoke coming from the trailer on the way home????
  7. Going back to work tomorrow to see how I get along.Got the old name off the doors of the "new" truck and the new plates on,ready to give it a shakedown.Too cold to re-letter it so I'm going to play farmer.Just hope the shoulder holds up rolling the tarp. Not near as many guages as "Super Mutt" It does have this nice little storage box with cup holders.though.
  8. They picked that r model up at the monthly auction 4 or 5 months ago,if they are asking $10500,they probably only gave $5250 for it.That's how they work. They don't negotiate much either.I tried to buy a '78 Superliner from them awhile back, they'd had the truck over a year, but wouldn't budge much on the price, even trying to buy outright.I kinda got the feeling they'd rather deal with exporters.
  9. I couldn't find any eastern R models with anything but a 3208 (R492) or a 3406(R754).They put 1674(RS/RL753) and 1693(RL/RS755) in the Western R's though.
  10. Damn I love that truck, can't say much for the contents of it's trailer, though.
  11. My great uncle had a B42 with a DT466 in it.Had a flatbed on it,he used it awhile and sold it.He was always buying stuff at auctions, fixing it up a little, using it in his drilling business then selling it for way more than he gave.he was real good at it,said he made more money that way than he did drilling.
  12. correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Holland and ASF 2 separate manufacturers
  13. I'd see if you can find some numbers on that rear end, looks like L model hubs to me.
  14. I can tell you what all the letters and numbers mean,I just don't know how he found out where they went.
  15. Makes you wonder if the wrecker was originally a LJ,then someone cut it in half and welded a B model to the back half.I've seen it done before, alot quicker than swapping bodies to another truck.
  16. I think I got it bought very right especially comparing it to most of the ones listed on TruckPaper. The only downfall was that I had to purchase the trailer it pulled also,a '91 Wilson 41' hopper which I don't have much use for.Probably take it to the next auction. I bought 2 new aftermarket Superiner II bumpers awhile back, very good quality but they are chrome steel, not he stainless clad aluminum like the original,I haven't checked on the status of OEM bumpers yet.
  17. Name: Red '88 Superliner Date Added: Owner: Superdog Superdog
  18. Beautiful Superliner,it will serve you well for decades.Like was already mentioned, check the air governor, that's the cheapest place to start.Any leaks your not finding??I wouldn't think the compressor would be bad with that low of mileage.you never mentioned what engine you have.
  19. Cat 3208.all the ones I saw for sale also had Allsion automatics.
  20. Damn,I wish that was in my backyard instead.Hey Ray,wanna go to Morroco and pick up a truck for me????
  21. The serial # tag on my 358 is inside the right door,I don't know if that's where they put all the ID tags on the 300 series or not.
  22. Where'd all those sweet old rides go,Al???Kinda makes a guy want to cry.
