  1. One of the best books you will find for info is Mack by John Montville.Some of these later books, unfortunately including Mack:Driven for a Century have some factual errors.
  2. Here's a couple more for tonite, CA214,standard for the B53,flat back&passenger seat deleted. CA30,standard for B-75 and most B-80 series,flat back,sunken floor boards CAS30,sleeper cab,sunken floor CA31,L cab option for B-75

There were evidently several different versions of the B Flagship cab based on the model to be used on.The CA212 would have had a doghouse,where a CA21 didn't need one.The CA27 cab was the concave cab used on the B61.The sleeper cabs for a B61 were the CAS25 for the early side window version and CAS28 for the later vent style.Anyone wanting to know any more versions,I can look them up,then maybe somebody with more time & talent can make a list or something.

  5. The CA 32 cab was the concave cab used for the B67.The CA212 cab was the flatback cab for the B67.The CA 21 was the most used standard cab,used on the B-61.

That number would put it in the 58 to 59 range.On some of the real old B models in the smaller sizes,they stamped the #'s at the rear of the frame,like on the E,A & L models.Sometimes the stamping is pretty light and hard to read.Look more toward the front of the rear hanger,between there and the shock mount.Most likely a typo in the year, either the Ebay listing or title.I have several titles with old typos that I've tried to have changed,but found out it's not worth the hassle.My B83SX in titled as a B835X,for example.
  7. Actually,the only LJ's built after the B was introduced were the heavy duty LJSW,LJSWX etc.They continued until the B80 series was introduced in '56.An LJ tractor such as this wouldn't be any newer than '53.

My first vehicle was a Mack,I built this one from 3.Got it when I was 13,had it finished by the start of my senior year,but it got destroyed when our shed burnt in March,'85,2 months before graduation. I did have a car once,got it just before I turned 16,I hated it(cars are for girls and city kids).We went to look at a '79 Dodge 3/4 ton 4x4 that had just been traded at our local dealer,old farm truck,not one straight piece of tin anywhere,I loved it.But they also had a '70 Impala 2 door sitting there.Dad thought it was cool,so he made me buy it,and he bought the Dodge for a chore truck.I ended up driving the old dodge way more than the car,so it sat it the shed most of the time.It burnt up too.

  15. I've got 3 trucks with 6-71's,a '67 Brockway wrecker,a '76 Brockway 759,and a '65 GMC Crackerbox.I've also got a R773 Mack with a 8V71 spotted,but still negotiating on it.I also had a '69 IH F2000 with a 6-71.It ran away first time I started it,talk about something you'll never forget.
  16. I don't know what sizes they come in,but the new style 2 piece crossmembers work really slick,and as much as I hate to admit it,they don't crack like the old ones do.
  17. Well,Dan,if I was you,I'd keep looking for another cab,and do a BCR as well.
  18. The T2000 series were built to handle more torque.
  19. Numbers should be stamped on both,trans should read TRQ720 or something similar.Rear ratio should be stamped on a small flat area on the pumpkin.
  20. I've never seen a breakdown sheet on how many of each where built,where'd you find that,Brian?That would be some great rainy day or late night reading. Another thing you want to remember,back then there were alot more single axle trucks built,do to varying weight/length laws.Also alot of tag axles in use then,lot of operators couldn't/wouldn't justify the extra cost of a twin screw.
  21. Nice looking D model,fullfuel.I let one get away from me 15 years ago or so,still kicking myself in the ass.It was a D42P,flatbed with a crane mounted behind the cab and 23k actual miles.
  22. You need to take the dump box off and put a H5 Bucyrus-Erie crane on it.I even know where you can buy one.
  23. I'm guessing by the looks of it probably an LF.The original owner/builder has passed away,but the guy I talked to said he was told it was from the '40's.The owner had a large crane & wrecker service and ran alot of Macks.
