  1. Anyone in here close to that truck?I'd like someone to look it over.
  2. Australian, think they called those the Metroliner.
  3. That is a sweet ol'.Western F,I'd guess it to be around a 1970.
  4. If you are building 1/25 th scale, the ERTL DM600 model kit has either a Triplex or Quad transmission you could use.
  5. I would have liked to see this truck in person, but it's definately an old R model cab they've "modified" the cowl and shortend the hood.
  6. They did a nice job on that hood.Looks alot better than those Clariben tilt hoods.
  7. That tandem is most likely a tag axle guessing by age, probably weigh around 14,000,not over 15,000,since it's missing some stuff.
  8. Those are Tachographs,Black boxes of the 50's to 80's,they were used to record driving time, speed,RPMs,etc. They had little paper discs in them to record info on,company had the key to prevent driver tampering, but resourceful old timers had ways of "fixing" them.
  9. The 300+ powered one must have been one of the later U626T's that had the 6V92.
  10. They put them in the U700's.i know Doug Maney has a U747 with a 290 in it.
  11. That real old yellow one looks like it might be a White. That 3000 looks pretty good too.Looks like a CF fire truck in there too.
  12. I think his is a U795 with a V8 Maxidyne,if it's the same one I've seen pics of.
  13. Like you said,it's real hard to price something like this, and if it was something I had to sell, the thing to do would be auction it and let the bidding set the price.Grandpa always told me it better to start off high when you're selling something, you can always come down.I kinda figured I'd get picked apart when I posted this,as that seems to be the current fad,but if that gives some guys enjoyment, guess that's fine with me.But it is good to see some of us think alike.
  14. You'd most likely want a diesel,as the gas engines are hard to find parts for,and more likely to cause problems if not ran much. Most popular would be the B-61.Miles and age don't mean much on the old 673 engines,it's how they were maintained that counts. Depending on your state regs, you probably wouldn't need a CDL,farmers here in Iowa don't need one for their own truck hauling their own crops.
  15. How R U getting along with the Superliner???
  16. Best thing you can do is post pics.Location and time frame for removal can sometimes be a big factor. Most of us in here hate to see old Macks go to scrap,so hopefully your pics will generate some interest. The sleeper cab for sure should be saved,as well as the complete single axle truck.I'm sure you wouldn't have any trouble getting at least the same as you would by scrapping them.
  17. There's a nearly identical spec'd Holden 25 ton trailer on truck paper for $5500,but it's an '80.I'd guess the 2000 would be around $10k.
  18. There used to be a boatload of these floating around after Roadway traded them.Anyone know if any still survive? They were '77's if I remember right, model U773T,8v71 Detroit engines,10 speed, air start, fixed tag axle, and 11:24.5 budd wheels. Roadway also ran a later batch of U models but they were U626's with 6v92's and 9 speeds.
  19. Being that trailer is a 2000,and most likely real low miles, that's probably a really good price.
  20. Friend of mine told me someone was putting together a Superliner with a MP engine at one of the Mack dealers in Wisc.,can't remember if he told me Madison or LaCrosse. No doubt it could be done, but it would take some $$$.If a guy could somehow get ahold of an export engine, that would be the ticket.
  21. Yep,$20K is where I'm starting.Guess I've always looked at things kinda different, but I've bought and traded for around 250 old trucks since I started collecting 32 years ago,and I always thought a good negotiation was part of the fun of buying. Also,it ain't something I have to sell, but like I said,I've had some inquiries and decided to see what kinda interest there really was.If I get no serious offers it's no big deal, but if it does leaves here,it's going to be at a price I won't be regretting selling it for.Sad part is that so far it seems all the money is overseas cause that's where the best offers are coming from.
  22. We had 4 different Cruiseliner's ,3 on Camelback and one on 3 leaf, and I don't remember them being all that bad,I know some guys that put air ride cab kits on theirs and said it was like night and day.My '67 F model was pretty bad,144 " wheelbase on Camelback, but worst riding COE I ever drove was my father in law's '74 White Freightliner.
  23. I don't often sell one of my Macks, but I've had a few inquiries about my W-71T,so I've decided to offer it for sale. This is a rare chance to purchase a very rare truck. VIN # W71T1156,it has a 200 Cummins diesel,5 speed trans.,with manual shift(2nd stick)2 speed rear end.10:00x22 steel budd wheels.Only 215 W-71's were built, less than 10 are known to be still around, this is the only factory built single axle tractor still kown to exist.Solid and very complete. I'm asking $20,000 OBO and might consider trades, either full or partial depending on what's offered.Additional pics will be available to SERIOUS BUYERS only.
  24. Good to hear,Travis.Let me know how it looks when you get it home.
  25. I'm just up the road from you 20 miles, give me a holler sometime.
