  1. Never, ever seen a B model that was "not worth anything"
  2. 9235_504519234_6345881_5427696_n.jpg] Got the lettering done and added a few more chrome goodies.
  3. I'm with you,Mike. All my B-61's have the oil fill tube on the top of the valve cover.
  4. I'm afraid this one cut pretty deep,Terry. But as long Mikey keeps running as hard as he has been,we should do OK.
  5. I'll have to check on that next time I talk to Joe.I met Sid along time ago at either Walcott,or maybe it was the convention in Bloomington. This is the first dealing I've ever had with Manders, and was pleased with the whole transaction.
  6. Think I'll be driving my old Superliner for a long time, yet. They are super nice trucks, though. This one was pretty hard to pass up.All Mack drivetrain,333k miles, super clean,APU,headache rack,2 big alum. storage boxes,Dura-brite wheels, and damned near new tires all around.Mikey is really, really happy with it.He pretty much lives in the truck now,so I wanted to find him a good one, hopefully this one will be it.
  7. My son is on his way home with the latest addition to our working fleet.Picked it up at Mander's in MN this afternoon.
  8. I've seen the same thing, also.Like Glenn said, most of the time from getting the aux. hung up in two gears.Chances are pretty good your main box is still OK,you'll just have to find a back section.
  9. Looks really clean, what are the specs?
  10. Doug, Did you strike oil in your backyard or win the lottery? You've really come up with some winners lately. That F looks really solid.Like the EE too.
  11. It was totally submerged for about a month, surprising the cab and sheet metal show now signs of it,just a little trash in the cab floor, but I'm afraid the engine is ruined, will know more when I get it home.
  12. Al, When I put budds on the front of my first B-61,I needed longer studs also, they didn't have any on the shelf at the dealer and I'm sure the ones they ordered for me came from Midwest Wheel,so I'm sure you could get them at any heavy truck supplier. Can't help you on the floation tires.
  13. It says under the picture that they were running 3 F797's and 2 RWS788's,so I'd say it's got a E6-350.If it was Detroit powered,it would be a RWS770.
  14. Ernie, Congrats on getting this truck.Glad to see it made the trip home OK.I tried to talk a friend of mine into buying it,but he drug his feet a little too long.I love the looks of it,the paint scheme and dual headlights and air cleaners really set it off.Find a nice Mercury sleeper for it and a 2 stick 4x4 trans and it would be really sweet.
  15. One of the first B models I remember from my childhood was this '59 B-61 grain truck owned by a farmer in a neighboring town. When I was old enough to start thinking about getting one of my own, musta been 11 or 12,I asked about buying the truck from him,but he wouldn't sell it yet."Sorry kid, best truck I've ever had,but I'll keep you in mind if I ever do sell it".Every year come harvest I'd see it ,thought I had my chance when he bought a new DM600 in '81,but he never would part with it.He kept using it up until his death, his sons had bought a couple semi's by now,but still used the old B for odd jobs up till about 5 years ago,but they still wouldn't sell it.Unfortunatly it fell victim to the flood of '08,along with alot of their other equipment.A friend of mine rents their farm now,and he called me and said now would be a good time to make another offer as stuff was going to get cleaned up soon.So after 32 years of trying, the old girl is now mine.
  16. Still waiting in Iowa.
  17. Sure hope Mack sends a truck to haul the AC to Vegas,Iowa 80 bought a damn Volvo to haul their trucks with a couple years ago.It would be a long and embarassing ride for that proud AC.
  18. The Bulldogs on the doors would be gold and the V8 emblems on the Maxidynes were gold, too. You used to be able to get gold dogs on the mirrors too,but like Rob said, those are newer than your truck if you're trying to be PC.
  19. The RS700 had a ETAZ673 "300 +" which was painted a copper color The Cruiseliner I believe had a ENDT676 Maxidyne which would have been painted gold.
  20. Why not build a small island in the middle of your lake and park the Mack proudly in the middle as a tribute to the hard work it did for you.
  21. R686 - the original designation for 86 was the ENDT-676 300 series Maxidyne. In later production,it also cover the 300 hp E6. R688 - the original designation for 88 was the ENDT-678 350 hp,later become the E6-350.Later on 88 covered all E6 & later E7 "Econdyne" engines R690 - 90 covered all E6 & E7 Maxidyne engines in later production I may be wrong but I don't think any straight R models ever came out with the E7's,just the later RD & RB models.
  22. Couldn't find my pics so I borrowed this from largecar.mag site.He used a Dodge bed on the IH,he lengthened it a foot or so,looked really good.
  23. Mike made the R190 into a big pickup,he brought it to Walcott this year along with one of his sleeper cab B-61's.I'll try to find my pics and post them.
  24. I always liked them too.I been looking for a tip turbine 350 for along time, always thought they were a damn good engine.First Superliner I ever drove was set up just like this one,it was a dealer demonstrator Grandpa brought home to try out for a week. That hood seemed 2 miles long to a 14 yr. old kid.
  25. It's pretty rough around the edges, but you're right,it has lot's of potential. The suspension had been rebushed shortly before it was parked,as well as a new clutch.Engine & trans. seem to be in really good shape.Hood needs a little work and the cab back panel needs replaced.
