  1. It's still in the truck right now,he just dropped the pan to find the problem. Was trying to decide on the best method to repair.I'm with you on having it turned down.
  2. This truck was built prior to the 17 digit VIN.If I remember right,it was sometime in 1981 that this was started.
  3. Not true, they were built in Hayward,CA from the time they were introduced until the Hayward plant closed. Then production of the Superliner,Cruiseliner and Valueliner was moved to PA.
  4. My son just bought a '88 Superliner with a "blown"E9-500.He got it home Friday and tore it down and found the problem was a spun rod bearing. What would be the best cost effective fix?Having the crank turned and go with oversize bearings,or have it built up then turned?I suggested pulliing it out and putting a 6 cylinder in but he wants to keep the V8.
  5. Only way you'll be able to get the info on the transmission would be to have your dealer or the Mack Museum to run the number and get the build sheet.Only the engine can be decoded from just reading the VIN.
  6. You left out the most important number to get your info.You should have a number between the 8 and L,which should be a 6 if your truck has a ENDT676 300 series Maxidyne.The complete breakdown of your VIN is as follows: RW - model - Superliner S steel frame 7 - 700 series(long hood,but all Superliner series 1 were 700's) 86 - ENDT676 300 Maxidyne (283 hp) L - lightweight components(alum.fuel tanks,rear end carriers,etc.) S - twin screw rear end T - tractor 49200 - 49200th truck built in Hayward plant
  7. well done,looks like a good one.
  8. I like it. I've got a pretty good nose from a hard nose DM611,don't know if they are interchangable or not.Think I've got a headlight panel too.
  9. The old girl looks real solid, you leaving it a dump truck?
  10. I really doubt if I get Dad talked into taking time off to show at Walcott, but I'm trying.
  11. I stuck to the 2 lanes and county roads all last week, never seen one DOT.
  12. The 3 speed rears were made by Eaton, trans. was probably Fuller or Spicer.I've got a very rough 7000 that still has the rears, motor and trans. are gone.It would make a good parts truck if you find one to restore.
  13. I'd bet it had the 5 speed with 3 speed rears, that was a pretty popular combo. The old 7000 I have was spec'd this way,220 Cummins,5speed,3 speed rears.I'm guessing by the "hotstick" you mention, you're talking about the air shift 4x4 and I don't think I've seen one of those in anything much earlier than a '68.
  14. All joking aside,I found a unopened pack of very, very old Trojans under the seat of a 1941 Mack EM I used to have.
  15. That was a damn good engine. Most of the ones around here got ordered with the RT1110 and 3:65's,but most guys that had them ran 22.5's also. One guy had one in a '78 Cruiseliner,he turned 4th and 5th around in the tranny,it was a real screamer.
  16. Just curious, did that truck have the RT1110 and 3:65 rears originally?
  17. Dan, Try agkits.com
  18. Believe it or not,an automatic could be ordered in a B model, but if you ask me,that would be about like buying a case of empty beer cans. The main thing you gotta remember when considering a transmission swap such as an automatic or even going to a 5 speed, you're going to have to consider your rears too or you might end up with a 40 mph truck.
  19. Barry, You should offer your services to the ATHS forum.
  20. I've been using Lucas in my trucks for 11 years, never had a problem.
  21. Well, granted it ain't real pretty, but for the price,I'd sure be interested if I was looking for a R795.At least it runs.I was bidding on a Brockway 760 that didn't run and it ended up bringing $6500,now that's crazy.
  22. We really do need to remember this.Lately I've had to quit letting my 10 yr. old daughter check posts on here for me.
  23. both of my RL700's are on spokes
