  1. I might be wrong, but the ones I remember were '73's.They were used to introduce the new ENDT-676 and had "300 series" painted on them. Our local dealer had a F-model.As soon as the demo period was up,it got painted green and put into their trucking fleet.
  2. Mack made 4x4 and 6x6 B models.Might be alot easier to find one of them. There were a couple different B-426's on Ebay quite awhile back.I'm sure there are some more out there somewhere.
  3. My B-83 wrecker has 4:17's behind a double over Triplex, and is on 11R24.5 rubber. In 5th direct at 1700 rpm I had it up to 107 mph according to the car I had following me.It's geared way,way too fast, even in low it's geared too fast, making it very hard to use.The lo-lo of a quad would help a bunch,I'm sure, but I couldn't tell you how much.
  4. My Dad had one on his '06 Vision and has one on his '09.He loves it,no trouble with either one, added about 40,000 miles to his steer tire life, compared to the '01 Vision he had.
  5. My younger brother has a '06 Vision with a 460 he got brand new.It has been pretty much trouble free, although there has been a few recalls that he's had to take it in for.Any other troubles have been minor.I do know that it has delivered every load he's started with and has never been on the hook, something that could not be said for his '04. My Dad also had a '06 he got new.It too was a good tractor. It had the air ride front axle, which gave him not only a better ride, but he got 40 to 50k more miles out of his steer tires. It had the new style Mack 13 speed and he never liked the way it shifted. He has a '09 with the MP8 now, only trouble with it has been with the exhaust regeneration.
  6. I got a call yesterday from the salesman at Milwaukee Mack about this truck,as I too had inquired about it when they first advertised it several months back.He said they dropped the price further and he would email me more pics.By the time I got home,he emailed me and said it had sold.Anyome in here buy it??
  7. Looks like a EFU or EGU to me.
  8. Some of my family's Macks, past and present
  9. My brother had a '04 Vision. Our dealer finally got Mack to buy it back. The '06 that replaced it has been pretty much trouble free.
  10. It's probably an EHU or EQU.
  11. That looks more like a parts # stamping too me.The serial # on a E model is stamped on the right frame rail back by the rear spring hanger.
  12. If you can't find a set,I have one I'd loan you to copy.
  13. I say we need to take up a collection and buy that poor girl some new front wheels for that R model.Or didn't anyone else notice???
  14. I ain't felt like saying much in here for quite awhile, but I'm going to add my 2 cents worth on this topic.I went from a '99 CH to a '86 Superliner last year. There's no truck on this earth of any make that drives as good as a Superliner. But I went a different route,my Superliner has no Mack components. It was pretty hard for me to go from Mack power to Cummins, but there was one main reason I did this,Volvo. They are making it harder and harder to get parts for older Macks, and the ones you still can get are way overpriced.Plus, dealers don't stock older parts the way they used to.They don't want you to run older equipment, they want you to buy their new crap.I can go almost anywhere and get parts for my truck,NAPA,Cummins, truck stops, off brand truck dealers, etc.Had to replace the front rear end seal(Mack rear ends) in my '85 Superliner that my son drives a couple weeks ago,got the yoke off and it was grooved pretty bad.Dealer had to order the part,$354 and the truck was down 2 days.Makes me sick as hell but as long as Volvo hold the leash,it's only going to get worse.
  15. Does your truck have an overdrive transmission? If so,are all 8 rear tires matched?
  16. Best thing to do is crawl under your truck and get the model number off the transmission, that way we know exactly what you have and can tell you how to properly shift it.Should be stamped on left side,If it is a 12 speed, should TRTXL1070A if I rember right.
  17. I'd bet it's an old Roadway truck too,but it would have to be a U773 with the 8V71 Detroit. The 6V92 powered U models were U626's and had the standard hood.
  18. If you don't want to go clear to Indiana,I have several too.
  19. That's why Cummins engines were only put in the R700's.
  20. A PTO from any 72 series transmission should work,be it a 5 speed, duplex, triplex or quad.If I get a chance I'll look at one of mine and see if I can find some numbers.
