  1. Here's some progress pics on the '87 R model I sold to my friend in Keokuk.
  2. What kinda shape is it in ? I have R770ST1128 but its been wrecked and gutted.
  3. There was never one around here but I remember our local dealer sent Dad up to one in the Chicago area to have his V8 F model dyno'd. The brothers that owned H&L Mack also owned Nelson Trucking Service and ran Chicago with wallboard everyday and hauled steel back,so they gave Dad a load both ways when he went there. I sure miss those days. Whenever we had a truck in the shop or even if we just needed an extra for a day or week, whatever,Harry Nelson would put a dealer plate on a used truck they had on the lot and say bring it back with as much fuel as is in it when you leave.
  4. A '64 F model with a 711 would be a F609
  5. The 711 engine came out at same time as the F model in '62,that's when they quit making the G & H models, with the exception of the heavy H80 series which ended in '66.
  6. I scored this brass tag on Ebay sometime ago, love to know what it was attached to.
  7. Actually its PETA == People Eat Tasty Animals, believe me,I've had my share of run ins with the weirdos.Just for the record I may or may not have accidently on purpose showed one of them how a Hot Shot works.
  8. wonder how many are still around?
  9. Dad's '80 Cruiseliner was 3 tone green in design 1H. Soon as I get scanning figured out,I have some pics of it to post.
  10. I've seen them with all kinds of homemade cabs, but all the restored ones I've seen have open cabs with the canvas top .
  11. I believe when we were discussing the truck, this one was R607T1001
  12. I thought only the type 21 had the Hall-Scott engine?
  13. I don't remember where we had this discussion, but the topic of the very 1st R model came up about a year ago, below is the reponse I got from Dale at the museum. Mike, After searching through all of the sub models of the R Series trucks built in 1965, we’ve come up with the Chassis Number of R609LST 1001 as the first R Model off of the 5C Assembly line dated April 6, 1965. There were Models R401, R403, R410, R607, R609, R611, R615, R640, R715, and R737 built in 1965 but the R609LST 1001 was the first one. The number(s) after the letter “R” was the type of engine in the truck. It had no bearing on the date of manufacture. Dale R. Guth, consultant, Mack Trucks Historical Museum
  14. Anyone else have one of these? I've got one that's pretty rough, been debating about sending out somewhere and making it look like this one.
  15. loading circus wagons on railcars?
  16. I don't know what you have for truck tire dealers in your area, but the one I take my front tires to for balancing uses strips of lead weights with tape on the back stuck on the inside of the rim.
  17. Howard and his wife Glenda are super nice people and it's been a lotta fun for me helping with this truck..This old H is a sweetheart to drive, too. This is actually his 2nd H67.The first one was one I'd been trying to buy for quite a long time, the guy ended up consigning it to an antique truck auction about the same time I found out Howard was looking for one.We both went to the sale,I told him if he didn't want it,I'd buy it and we'd keep looking for one for him.It was really rough, but he decided to get it anyway,so I hauled it home for him.Awhile later I found out the owner of this other one, which I'd also known about for along time, had finally decided to sell it because the roof collasped on his building. It was much better shape,so I called Howard and he got it bought, then I got the old green rusty one .after it gave up a few items for this one. at the auction going home to my place
