Was driving by the scrapyard located outside the corn processing plant I was hauling into today,and I spotted something very familiar load on a trailer waiting to get inside the gate,a B model cab.I hit the shoulder and ran over to check it out.The hood,headlight panels,floor panels,fender inners and tops were all inside he cab.It all was really nice shape,gutted for sandblasting,hardly any rust,floor and bottom back of cab solid as a rock,very few dings from loading.Made a quick deal with the guy and the owner of the scrapyard to CAREFULLY unload it.Soon as I got my corn unloaded I hauled ass for home and went back after it. The Mack Gods were obviously on the ball today,otherwise it would have been gone forever.

The 12V71 was available in RL/RS700's and FL/FS700's,model code was 771,example,RS771LST.Don't know about the fit of the twin turbo's though.I think I would go a little heavier duty than a 910 tranny,at least a 12513,14613 would probably be best.

I have 2 of those front emblems,Doug,one NOS and one in very good used condition.I've got a couple other oddball ones I'll have to dig up and take pics of.One is a NOS bus emblem from the '40's or so.And the other one I have no idea what it came off of.

I had a '67 R615LST,864 V-8,15 speed,4:76 rears on inverted Camelback.That old girl would run 80 mph.Traded it to a friend of my for a '72 FS785T with a box and hoist.

Those aluminum panels were available on eastern F models too.

They did away with the V8 emblem long before the E9 came out.They used them on the 864,865,and 866 V8 powered trucks.The ones for the 865 were gold. The Thermodyne emblems on Al's BCR were from an F model.I've never seen an R model with factory installed Thermodyne emblems.I've been around several '66 and '67 R607,609,611 and 615's,none of them had eveidence of ever having Thermodyne on the hood. I've seen those pictures too,along with pictures of very early U and R models with no MACK letters on the front of the hood,instead they had the same front emblem used on the off-highway M series.I wonder if these were just prototypes??

The grille medallion disappeared from the Cruiseliner sometime between the 76 and 77 model year.The cab change came with the move to Macungie. The H60 and H-61 had a totally unique grille emblem and the Mack Jr. Bulldog was never used on any other model.Those are the only others I can think of off the top of my head,Doug,which ones did I miss?

The Cruiseliner was introduced in November 1974.I've never seen one titled as a '74 but have known of many '75's.

I've never heard of any other models being built at Hayward,Doug.The Cruiseliner was available as a WL or WS,and the Superliner was available as a RWL or RWS.When it was introduced,the dropped the RL/RS700 models and badged the RL/RS600 as the Valueliner.I don't believe the Superliner was ever built in Macungie prior to Hayward closing.I believe it was '81 when they closed.Then all 3 were built in Macungie until those models were discontinued. My Grandpa used to pick up new trucks for our local dealer and I went with him to Hayward in '81.We piggybacked home 3 Cruiseliners and a Valueliner.The trucks there waiting to be picked up were really something to see,chrome and polished aluminum and fancy paint jobs.When I went with him to Allentown in '76,all you saw was green,red or white and everything had spoke wheels.We got a full blown tour on that trip,something I'll never forget.They were still building the M series off hiway trucks then,got to tour the R&D facility and test grounds,it was really something.

I tried out a new set forward axle CH in '96 that had a Stuper 10,I hated it.Only good 10 speed Fuller ever made was the RT1110 they used to put behind 300+'s.I always thought the Super 10 was best left for the Schneider trucks. The 12 speed is a great tranny,but I liked the older 2 stick version better than the newer flip valve on the dash. Personally,I think the T2130/2180 were the best Mack transmissions since the Triplex and Quadraplex.I've never had a chance to drive anything with the new family of Mack tranny yet.

No offense,but if you like the looks of the Volvo VT better than a CH or Vision,you been sniffing too many paint fumes.

Yep,I spotted a few errors. B introduced in '53,not '50 and ran thru '66 H models,introduced in '53 came before the G(actually the Manhattan in 1905 was the first Mack COE) FS was steel frame Western F,didn't mean F with sleeper F was eastern built,not just a non sleeper RW didn't mean R Western,it was model designation for the Superliner,RS and RL were the Western R models Cruiseliner wasn't built in Macungie until Hayward was closed in '81. Think that was it.

Belmor used to make aftermarket interior kits in the tan/beige but I don't know if they are still available.Might be worth checking into.

There's an '87 Superliner on Ebay right now with a 350 Cummins.Says it runs good,but the truck is a fixer upper,but it's dirt cheap.$460 last I looked and no reserve.

Bet there won't be one old Mack there,not even worth watching.Now if it was the Super-Liner Bowl,different story.

Fuse panel is inside the glovebox.They did away with fuses in '59 or so and went to breakers,they are in the glovebox too.
