    Too make things very simple,the biggest difference between the early Maxidyne 300,300+,and early 350 and the E6 engines was the aftercooling,the early ones used the side mounted aftercooler and a tip turbine fan,E6's were air to air mounted in front of radiator.I believe your 2nd pic is a 678 (early 350),not an E6. The difference between a ENDT676 and a ENDTB676 is the B means it has a Dynatard engine brake.Dynatard's require a special cam and can't just be added to any engine without changing the cam also,were a Jacobs Brake doesn't need to.

    Tim, I have several old Mack wrenches and tools.Most of them I have were made by either Williams or Bonney.From what I've heard,the came in tool kits with new trucks back in the 20's&'30's

    Thanks for the pics.Always thought one of those H-81's would make an awesome wrecker.There was a story in Double Clutch awhile back about a couple of them getting saved,think Dave Zsido & Bob Giddings got them. I was told that the H-81 was built to use up a large quanity of day cab H cabs Mack had ready for a large UPS order that was canceled when the F model came out.Don't know if that was true or not,but makes for some intersting history.

    Wish I had one of those in my back yard.I've seen twin steer F800's,but never a F900.You wouldn't happen to have any pics or know where there is any H-81's do you?They were used in NYC for heavy mixers too.

    It means that it wasn't a completely brand new manufactured truck.Glider kits were a new cab,frame and front axle.The idea behind them was that it was a way to rebuild wrecks or update an older truck,by using the still usable engine,trans.,and rear axle & suspension.For awhile,Mack even offered powered glider kits.These were new cab,frame,and front axle,with a factory reman engine installed,you just had to put in the trans. and rears.

    Tom, Do to the price of fuel,I didn't get to round up any stray B's this year,just a crusty A54 and a C609.Hopefully '06 will be a better year cause I'm suffering from withdrawal really,really bad. Keep up the good work.

    If you decide thats what you want to try,I've got a gutted '82 R model I'd trade or sell you cheap.The steering box,column,linkage,etc. is all there.I think I even have the p/s resevoir for it.You'd just have to come up with a p/s pump to fit your 220.

    I've never seen one up close or in person,but I've heard of using an R model steering box and steering column.Takes some modifcation,but it works.

    worst part about leaving the starter of the top left is that it makes it a bitch to change if it ever goes bad.

    F models had the same set up,so that should broaden your search options.
