  1. There was an E9 on Ebay recently, don't think it sold. You might look there to see if its still on.
  2. Their were 2686 ED's built from 38 to 44.They are not Mack Jr's.The Jr. was built by REO under a marketing agreement with Mack. The ED was a true Mack.
  3. How about posting some pics of the F715,Brad?

10 years ago or better,I saw an ad for a N model fire truck in a truck trader magazine. It was in FL if I remember right.I never throw anything out,so I'll do some digging and see if I can find it. N models are pretty neat old trucks,I have an old N-61 tractor myself.
  5. It was Magnadyne, these were flathead 6 gassers.
  6. keep an eye on Ebay, there's been a set on there off and on from the same seller, don't know if it was the same set that never sold or he had more than one set.the seller's ID is kingofsalvage if you want to search that.
  7. The very early B73's,B75's,etc. had the sheet metal radiator shell and smaller radiator. They went to the large cast aluminum radiator sometime in '57.
  8. I remember when Overnite Transportation was selling off all their old MB607T's,some of them were in the '70's.If I remember right, they were rated at 187 hp.
  9. The ones that had the one piece windshield were the first produced.Wasn't many of them made.
  10. That didn't quite work like I thought it would, but at least the pics showed up.I also have a '54 B61 with Page&Page,it's pretty much the same set up except it's a single drive axle with pusher axle.
  11. Here you go,Fred.
  12. There was a total of 4974 Mack Jr.s built from the 1M half ton to the 31M 3 ton. There were also 2 COE models the 21MT and 31MT and a bus chassis model 91MT.The Jr's were only built 2 years '36 and '37.
  13. Fred, The older ones were all 6 spoke and had the smaller "pinned " wheel studs, they went to a 5 spoke hub about '64.These also had the larger wheel studs. From then on,the 6 spoke hubs where only used on the 44k and larger rated axles.
  14. My B-83SX wrecker will do over 100 mph,but it ain't quite stock.It has 4:17's and 11R24.5 rubber.
  15. There were 68 different models of the B series, not counting firetrucks and school bus chassis. The main differences between the B42 and the B61 was weight rating and the fact the B61 was diesel powered,B42 was gas.
  16. Fred, Did you happen to look at my G73 while you were here?It has Page&Page with Mack rears. If I get home before dark sometime in the next few weeks,I'll try to get a pic for you.If not, remind me.
  17. Clariben was the company that made the aftermarket tilt hoods. They made them for standard and long hood B models,LT's and LJ's.also for several assorted offbreed trucks.I've tried to find out if they were still around but so far haven't had any luck.Last ads I saw for their B model hoods was back in the early '80's. The B53 with the factory looking tilt hood was homemade.
  18. You should see me behind the wheel in one of my concave cab B models,Larry.
  19. Larry, You need to eat a little more, then you don't have to worry about taking both hands off the wheel to shift. The time I met up with Aaron Tippin,he mentioned the fact that he didn't quite have belly enough to do any fancy 2 handed shifting in his B's. As far as the "expert's" comments you mentioned, maybe it was somebody Trent coached.
  20. Thats the one,did you buy it Dan,or are you just storing it?That would be a cool truck to own.
  21. Garth, Guess I should have added "till you figger out what you are doing",but I think in this case I was safe in leaving it off.
  22. It wouldn't happen to be in Oregon, would it?
  23. one more important thing I forgot, don't get both sticks in neutral at the same time, unless you are stopped.
  24. Hate to argue with someone that's put as many miles on a B as Trent, but the proper way to shift a 2 stick Mack trans,is like this. You split the aux. for each of the main box gears, not as Trent said. For a Duplex, start with the main in 1st,aux. in low, then split to hi,then 2nd low,2nd hi, etc. for a Triplex,1st in main, aux. in lo,then direct, then hi,2nd lo ,direct,hi,etc. The Quad is the exception in the lo-lo split only,he did have that right. In lo-lo you can shift up thru each of the main gears, but unless in severe conditions, these aren't used much.Otherwise you shift it just like a Triplex,1st lo,direct,hi,2nd lo,direct,hi,etc. The 13 speed Triplex and 18 speed Quad were considered double over transmissions and in 4th hi,you could shift directly into 5th hi.
  25. Thanks for all the advice.Right or wrong,I decided not to trade.Got to thinking more and more this morning and decided that there'll be other LT's,but never another B61 that I taught my son and daughter to drive on,and I'm sure when she can reach the pedals,my youngest daughter will learn to drive her too.Guess I'm too damn sentimental. Thanks for posting the pic,Terry, but that's the wrong truck,the'65 I was going to trade is the cream colored one.The 1960 red and black one is old Arnie, named for it's first owner Arnold Arledge. He owned a small freight company in Burlington,Iowa. He picked the truck up personally at the plant in Plainfield,NJ and bobtailed to NYC to pick up his daughter that was flying in from somewhere to Idlewild Airport (not sure if I spelled that right). He made a wrong turn at the airport and ended up on the runway and caused quite a bit of excitement.Don't know if that was the story Fred was referring to,but one of the cleaner ones Arnie told me,LOL.I bought it on Valentine's Day,1987 from the 3rd owner that had turned it into a lime spreader. If I ever get to where I can post pics again,I'll have to put up some of the before pics.It is also the truck that First Gear used for patterns for their 1/34th and 1/25th scale B61 replicas. This old girl has tons of sentimental value, ain't no way Id ever get rid of her and if it ever does come up missing,I know the first place I'll look, got that Terry? Back on the subject of the LT,guess I gotta get busy getting rid of the rest of the offbreeds cluttering up the place so I can buy it outright.
