  1. Got a real problem on my hands. As most of you know,I hold my old Macks in regards second only to my kids, and I'd rather chop off body parts than get rid of any of them,but..........I got a chance to trade for a '51 LT in pretty good original shape, unmolested for the most part, other than a very old repaint.Offered to trade me for my '65 B61 which I've had for 14 yrs. and really pretty attached to.Some of you have seen it either at Walcott, the Milwaukee convention and the Kansas City convention,or sitting in front of my house.I've wanted an LT for a long time, but not nearly as much as Mikey has,but I really love my old B models too.Wish I could buy it outright, but with things the way they are these days, that ain't gonna happen, just like a trade of this kind ain't likely to ever happen again either. What do you guys think?
  2. Years ago at an auction I saw a '75 Pete 110" COE that had been kitted from a wrecked Mack,it had a ENDT865 V8,5 speed, and Mack rears on Camelback.
  3. Must be a misprint,R609's weren't made that late.Must have been repowered too,it should have a 711.
  4. I got my first B61 when I was 13,and it was a hell of alot worse shape than the one you are looking at.No engine or trans.,beat up and rusty.Did all the work but painting it myself.Had it done by the time I was a Senior in High School.SSo I'd say if you have the desire and the means to do so,go for it,but I would try to jew them down on the price.I bought a running B42 with excellent sheet metal awhile back on Ebay for $500,only real problem with it was a broken rear spring and wore out trunion. It would bring close to $1400 at the steel mill right now,so I'd shoot for that or less.
  5. Some of the foreign makers still produce them, but don't let that stop you.Simply replace the rims with 24.5 tubeless.
  6. The trucks I have with actual Luberfiners are model 500C.Most of these are 673's.The 711's all have the larger Mack filter.
  7. check out Ebay#4574099251,our old buddy is selling his truck.
  8. I have one very similar,I'll take some pics of the engine and post them first chance I get. There were 2 sizes, the END510 and the END672.
  9. Assuming you are talking about a ENDT676,yes it will fit.The E6300 will also fit,but then you have the front mounted air to air to deal with, seen that done also, wasn't pretty, but it worked.
  10. You wouldn't have to twist my arm very hard to buy that one.Does it have the Mack-Lanova diesel?
  11. That would be right,Scott, the 375 hp was a ENDT866 and was the Thermodyne counterpart to the ENDT865 Maxidyne.Never heard too much bad about the 866,they seemed to hold up better the 865's.I don't know anything, but I think one of the main reason's was that they put 10 and 12 speeds behind them instead of a 5 or 6 like the 865's.Barry can probably tell you for sure, but last I knew,864 thru 866 parts are nearly impossible to find, although I did see aftermarket rods and mains on Ebay awhile back.
  12. thats just the junction block for the trailer cord ,and tail, brake and turn signals for the back of the tractor. It's supposed to be attached at the bottom back left side of cab and there's a little cover plate that goes over it.
  13. Great pics,Rod.Kinda looks like my back yard except the steering wheels are all on the wrong side.
  14. Amen
  15. The T2090 is an overdive trns.,that's why he's looking for one.As far as it being a reliable transmission, the one in my Superliner has close to 1.5 million on it and the only tranny related problem I've ever had with it was the splitter valve started leaking and I had to replace it and an air line broke.
  16. Looks like its been repowered with a 237 Maxidyne.
  17. you must not open too many doors,Bob,all B-73 thru B -773 that had B cabs and all the B 80 series had sunken floors.
  18. They show up on Ebay from time to time.
  19. I've got 4 or 5 EN510's.I'm assuming they have the same waterpump as the firetruck version.
  20. Dan, On the very top left side of the trans. there are the 2 short rods with clevis's on each end hooked to the shift rails (or whatever the technical term is)for the aux.box.Pull the back pin out of the left one, then see if the stick will free up.If there isn't something serious wrong,it should pop it out of gear, then you can put the pin back in and you'll be good as new.I've had a couple different quads get stuck in gear and this has always cured it.Then grease the hell out of those rails, should be zerks on both ends. Cool truck, did you get the G73 too?
  21. The 711 and 673C are pretty much laid out the same externally,Andy, except for the 673C having a turbo, although turbo's have been added to 711's,also.I had a '66 R model with a 673C and a Duplex and it handled it fine, someone either got tired of 2 sticking or wanted the lower gears of a 15 speed RR.A 15 speed Triplex mated to a 673C is a much sweeter set up in my opinion. As far as the air cleaner, all the 673C powered trucks that I've had all were equipped with oilbath air cleaners.Did they have both of yours hooked up,or just the one under the hood?
  22. You got a 170 hp 673 somebody slapped a turbo on,not a 237,those were the ENDT675.The 673 never had the provisions for oil cooled pistons so you really have to be careful not to cook it.I'm not sure how much hp just adding a turbo to one would add,but the factory ENDT673 was 205 hp,and later in the '60s raised to 225 hp,and the ENDT673C was 250 hp.Hope you didn't pay 237 price for your 673.
  23. The tag on the A's were inside the right door on the seat base. The Serial # on the A's will be stamped on the frame near the rear spring hanger up near the top of the flange on the right side.Every once in awhile you'll see one stamped on the left side too,so check there if you can't find it.Hopefully the frame hasn't been chopped or the 5th wheel plate isn't covering it up.This happened alot and is the reason they went to stamping frames by the front axle spring hanger.Check ebay for manuals and parts books,I've seen A model literature on there several times.
  24. The Magnum was a limited edtion and available in both Superliner and MH in 1985.They were black with the Magum logos and were all E9 powered.
  25. No,the 707 was never available in the DM800.The 707 gas engine dates back to the 40's and was last used in firetrucks into the later '60's.I believe there was even a early version of the 707 used in the AP of the late '20's. The DM replaced the B80 series trucks in 1966.
