  1. I'd say from what's been posted in here and on FB,most of the old Macks went to good homes.hopefully someone will step up and claim the few that didn't get bids. Good job guys!
  2. A few more changes, new Grover horns, chrome hood latches, painted the AC cover, put sunvisor on and added license hanger. This was taken at the Big Iron classic show in Kasson,MN
  3. There's wasn't anything I thought to be of value to anyone but me left down there to guard. Everything was pretty well picked over. This look like anything worth stealing to you ?
  4. I really don't think meth heads stole the doors,I found an old tupperwear bowl on the floor they put all the door bolts in and also a can of PB Blaster,They wouldn't have stolen the R700 emblem either, Old trucks doors with logos or lettering on them are a hot item right now for decorating,I bet these show up at a flea market or are already hanging in someones shop.
  5. Thats good to hear.hope it continues to be a good truck for you.
  6. I've only ever seen that woodgrain dash in the ones that had the fully upholstered "deluxe" interior.I pulled that glove box in my other post, along with the rest of the woodgrained panels out of an old cab I'm cutting up.Not much good left of it to save now,it was pretty rusty , vandals broke all the glass out of it quite awhile back. I went down to my south place a couple weeks ago to check on things, and some SOB had stolen the doors and R700 emblem off it.
  7. yes it did. I don't know how well you looked at it,but it had that crap that grows on rocks all over it,that stuff really attaches itself.
  8. Thanks,Rob.I'll try that.
  9. How lucky can you get ? That GMC & trailer is a good score, too. Is the half cab AC one of the ones with a flathead V8 in it?
  10. No,that's just the old style dash, they stripped the paint and polished the outside part and replaced the steel guage panel with a piece of polished aluminum.
  11. Had to stick close to home lately (so I can jump when a farmer calls and wants a truck 2 hours ago) so I been working on a few projects. A retired friend of mine took a liking to this truck when I 1st got it and offered to come do some painting on it for me. Gave the bed & booms a good sanding and painted them yesterday, and cleaned all the stuff that was growing on the cab & hood. Other than the clear coat peeling a little, the cab paint is really decent,so gonna leave it as is. I poked the filler out of all the emblem holes and dug thru my R model inventory and came up with all the missing stuff. I don't know why the previous owner chose not to put them back on when they painted it. Got the interior cleaned up,sure like the way they did the dash & steering column. Now I just going to do the floor of the bed with ryno liner type of stuff, paint the boom heads, pulleys and light bar,and clean up and paint the wheels when I put diferent tires on.,and finish stripping the paint from the fuel tanks.
  12. How would I go about saving this glovebox door? It's for a deluxe steel dash R model interior. As the pic shows the clear coating is peeling off.I'm afraid the Bulldog is attached to the clear and I don't want to lose it. Any suggestions?
  13. I just have to ask this. Why ??? Everyone I know around here that has Petes and do pretty much the same thing I do with my old Macks spend 8 to 10 times more in a years time in maintenance and repairs. One guy I know that hauls hogs with us has 4 Macks, but just bought a Pete to make his driver happy, myself I would have canned the driver for wanting one,but he spent way too much on it and then has spent better than half what he gave for it to keep it on the road. I just don't see it,I've driven a few and was not in the least bit impressed. That's my opinion.
  14. I wasn't going to,but I emailed for more info and he called me back today. Nice old guy, said it had been poorly stretched sometime in its life and a 16 ft. bed was on it when he got it.He shortened it back up to what he said looked to be the original wheelbase, near as he could tell everything was there, said it's not stuck. no real bad rust,he has a title, and he's pretty firm on price,so that leaves me out.
  15. I wonder what one would have cost new.
  16. Al,I tried to call you,went ahead & sent you a phone pic,did u get it ?
  17. That's one of those outfits that call you up when you advertise on Truck Paper wanting you to let them help you sell your truck.
  18. for $40k you could trade for an air ride trailer and put air ride on your Mack and still be ahead.
  19. As tough as it is just to get around that damn airport, and the way Chicago traffic is,I believe I'd stay put. There's one food place there that does a great Chicago style hot dog,I ate quite a few when I was waiting on my flight to W.Springfield,MA .
  20. Hadn't seen Randy's Autocar before.
  21. I've got a nice RS700 with 1 broken stud. I've used 3M emblem tape to hold them on or you could drill a hole and bolt it.
  22. I thought yours was a RS700?
