  1. Yes,the frame is aluminum, and it is as clean and corrosion free as the cab,it isn't even caked with 40 year old grease, they had made shields still mounted to the crossmembers to prevent grease being slung out from the U joints. Even the manual slide 5th wheel slid easily by hand .The odometer reads 276k and I'd bet a case of Coors Light those were actual miles.
  2. too bad, with the doors and grille gone, I bet a trip to scrapyard is not far away now
  3. If you do put these on Ebay, let us know, there are a couple there my AC is missing.
  4. I'm anxious to find out what hurdles you are going to run into putting a PA built Superliner II cab on a Hayward built Superliner 1 chassis.
  5. I saw some trucks were passed on,does that hopefully mean no scrappers bought anything? Those B81's went dirt cheap, even if they were rough.
  6. yes 67 is a 350 Cummins,it could be any of them,small cam NTC350,any of the Big Cam's or Formula 350.
  7. by all means,if you do fold and buy the Pete, keep your Mack too,you will need it.
  8. It's home . I've never in my life seen a steel dash cab this good that hasn't been restored. It is rock solid and rust free,Just makes me that much sicker it was parted out..The rest of the truck is just as good, frame is so clean ,no corrosion anywhere, hood is perfect, just the paint is peeling off from improper prepping,I'd guess. The bumper has been repaired, but they did a very good job,a little sanding and a good polish job and you'd never know it was fixed. I found the bill of sale from when the last owner bought it in 2008 for $10,000.
  9. Mainly collect,I do have a few I've fixed up, and acouple I'm very slowly working on. What I do I don't consider as restoring,I just make it good enough to suit me. My main goal is to save what I can from being chopped up and melted.
  10. I've got one of those bumpers like that truck on the brochure.
  11. he put an air ride rear end under it,the rest of the chassis is original. no Idea what he's asking now.
  12. That guy also had a N61 for sale. That bumper spent some time in my garage.
  13. PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE to all that attend, write down prices so we can have a full report. This is truly a historic auction.
  14. I miss those old Carry trucks, the R models they had with bunks really looked nice,I loved their colors. I'd never seen pics of a carry Superliner, the only ones I ever saw were the ones they got when they bought out ABT from Wever,IA to get their termimal and the corn syrup haul out of Hubinger in Keokuk,IA
  15. One other early option that this one doesn't have is a hinged aluminum access door for checking the radiator, like Ernie's V12 truck has. I'd really love to find one of those.
  16. that idea has crossed my mind
  17. the 2 piece hinged grille, gullwing bumper and high hood were unique to the early ones,Vlad. The grille and bumper are especially hard to come by.
  18. It's a '65 F715ST,still has the V8 END864 in it,15 speed alum.case Triplex. I've probably had it close to 20 years,I got it from an old farmer/scrapper from across the river in Gladstone,IL .He hadn't used in it a couple years, just sat there parked , hooked up to his grain/scrap trailer. I'd bought a B61 from him a couple years earlier, and told him if he ever decided to sell it,let me know. Someone came along and wanted to buy the rear ends so he cut it in 2 and was getting ready to scrap it,but as luck would have it,I was hauling by his place a few days later and bought the rest.He liked to cut things in 2,the B61 I got from him was same way,but I was lucky enough to get both halves. He had it about 10 years, before that it was a local construction co.'s lowboy tractor for a couple years, and prior to that,a local grain hauler had it. I don't know anything about the original owner. The cab is a mixture of original F model, plus alot of homemade panels and bondo. It's not very pretty. The series parallel switch went bad,so the last owner cobbled up a big electric switch box in between the 2 sets of batteries,he flipped it on to start and back off once it was running.
  19. "47" also covered the 300 Cummins for some reason. I guess they ran out of numbers. My '83 WS747LST was bought new by Ryder,Big Cam 3 Formula 300,9 speed Fuller,4:11's on Reyco. "Cruise Mutt"
  20. The hood, grille and bumper was my main reason for getting it,those early Western parts are hard to come by. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it,but at least it didn't get scattered further. 335's don't grow on trees so I might have to settle for something else to repower it. ,I know where's there's a damn good 290,physically not many could tell the difference.. The short aluminum frame kinda limits my options, too.
  21. It could have,I don't know. I first saw it for sale a few years ago on Truck Paper, very nice looking truck, clean and supposed to have had low miles. Here is a pic from that ad,itwas in Western Iowa.Had they not wanted so much,I would have went and looked it over, wish I had now. Last winter ranchhopper posted about it on here being in Sioux Falls,SD at Lund Truck parts, being parted out. I called about it and was told they aquired it thru a "Cash for Clunkers" kinda deal and it could not be sold complete or with a title,by the time I had called, they had already sold the rear ends, transmission, drivers door, and all the fuel tanks and stainless trim. They pulled the engine and I got what's left. The guy that picked it up for me said he couldn't believe how clean it was and the guy that loaded it said it made him sick to see it parted out,and was glad someone was going to save it.
