  2. Damn, that looks like it hurt. Take your time and get healed up,there will be other shows.
  3. make sure you bring it to the truck show June 13th at the park
  4. That's the truck that was in Ottumwa,IA. Where are you located?
  5. I was thinking the same thing, looks like the one he had.
  6. if it's a Triplex, over left and back is lo,right and back is direct, right ahead is hi,
  7. Sounds like to me he better fire driver and sell truck or drive it himself, before the guy really screws up and costs him alot of money.
  8. no I don't,I'm short a couple myself
  9. nothing like bringing one back to life
  10. I got everything loaded on my friend Howard's trailer for the ride to York,PA this a.m..sold this vintage Double Eagle sleeper to a guy on another forum. I dug thru this mess to find this hood to send Matt, anyone ever wonders why sometimes it takes me along time to find stuff, this trailer is one of 12 now, plus my barn and a couple other small buildings that I have my "neatly organized" inventory of stuff. stored in. Then I helped my friend, truck hauler, and Sunday breakfast cook Larry take his B475 to another friend's place to get some brake work done to it. Picked up this really nice Morgan sleeper there at Phil's. He used to be head mechanic at the former Nelson Trucking Service, and saved this off a wreck 23 years ago.He decided it was time to pass it on.to me. He also has this taking up space in his barn, told him I'd try to help him sell it,it was a running 20's vintage Chevy engine, with transmission and radiator, made into a portable power plant,he used the head & a few other small items for restoring Nelson Trucking's 1927 Chevy truck. Last but not least,I decided to tinker with the R wrecker and see if it would start, true to old Mack form, put in new batteries, cleaned the posts, primed the pump and it fired like I just shut it off.accelerator pedal is froze up and the clutch was stuck at first, but a little more tinker and I had it moving under its own power. Ol' 237 sounds sweet out of dual straights. They had had the interior fixed up pretty nice, but 15 years in a junkyard has slightly taken its toll,it should clean up pretty good, though ,
  11. looks like an old Miller tilt top trailer, they weren't very long.
  12. did you get the white one too?that was the really cool one, with the dual air intakes.
  13. That B30 looks good, the little dump ain't that bad either.
  14. Had to give a whole $25 for this sign.
  15. Me too,Dave, don't know why but I've always liked messing around with old wreckers.Maybe when I get it running I should finally put up my sign,as it came from the final estate auction of the guy that put this wrecker together as it is now. Wayne Johnston operated Johnston's Garage i nearby Mediapolis,IA for many years,he specialized in towing and house/building moving, along with repairs. His main big wrecker for many years was an old Hendrickson, gas powered with a homebuilt wrecker body.About 5 or six years before he died,he bought a '72 F785ST with this 750 Holmes unit, but he had bad knees and it was trouble for him to climb in and out of the F model,so later on,the local Mack dealer got this '71 R685LST in on trade,it was a low mile, very clean lowboy tractor. He bought the R,cut it and the F in 2,and attached the R to the wrecker half, and traded the rest back to the dealer for parts.Unfortunately,he never got it quite finished before he died of a heart attack while moving a quonset building. Dick Murphy and his boys bought it on Wayne's 1st estate auction, finished it up and painted it,they only used it very little before Dick died and his business closed up,it sat in his yard until my scrapper friend bought and cleaned out Murphy's old yard.
  16. Got this home last night. A scrapper buddy of mine ended up with it from buying out an estate, same place I got the B71 sleeper cab from. I traded him some old junk trailers for the wrecker. Hope to see if it will run this weekend, been sitting 15 yrs. according to the " in storage" stamp on the registration. 237 with a 2 stick 6 speed, aluminum fuel tanks, overall cab is pretty good.
  17. She found my old B20,too.
  18. a calender may well be in the works,I will keep you all posted.
  19. Saturday when I was gone retrieving the '68 R607,my wife called to tell me that someone stopped and asked if they could take pics, this happens almost weekly,so I didn't think anything of it. Someone posted a pic on facebook of one of my trucks so I followed it to his home page, look what I found so far.
  20. Perfect,I love it!! Can't wait to see it with hubcaps. Got them boxed up and they will be in York,if I'm there or not.
  21. I think that truck used to belong to a guy in IL,Milt S. I won't try and spell his last name,I'd butcher it . The cab was rebuilt using a L model cab, notice the aluminum windshield frame instead of rubber like a C should have.
  22. Forgot to add, very nice truck!! Congrats !!
  23. I think a '22 would need the brass cab tags that just said " Mack ",I gave up looking and had my vinyl sign guy make me a set for my AC I've got the measurements and a good scan from the museum if you want to go that route .
