Celli Trucking Co.-A Chicago Legend
Superdog replied to 57 bcr's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I checked on buying it but they were asking more than I could go. -
Well,I was out in the back 40 this weekend,so I checked a couple of old B's on the back row that have aluminum tanks. Both only have drivers side with a air start tank on right. both fuel tanks were damaged. I had 3 I sold quite awhile back, shoulda kept I guess. Sorry Larry and Matt.

What kinda sleeper is that ?

I would've switched and took that red oval straight to the nearest salvage yard

Getting ready to say goodbye

The guy that bought these has 9 more of the early B's at home, plus a few other old Macks, so they will be among old friends. also has a nice warehouse to keep them safe. -

I wouldn't say I hoard. them,as I do let some go,as this shows,95% of the trucks I have would've been ground up in a shredder had I not brought them home. I do have a few done that I show, and I'm always working on a few more, but rescue missions have higher priority to me than show queens, cause once they are gone, they are gone forever. I know some don't understand, and that's fine, but that's how I view things. If you are looking for one to fix up,and you pass my strict adoption screening, which after recent events has gotten even tougher than it was, I'll gladly sell or trade with you.- 25 replies

Poor old Dogs had to ride home in a Volvo. As long as I had owned these,I'd never noticed these inspection "doors" on the wheel hubs,2 on each wheel. I don't know if they were lube access points,or just to inspect the shoes. -

as far gone as this one is,best I can hope for is to use the hood for a "300" clone -
Someone told me long ago in the Phantom 309 song,Big Joe and his Mack, were based on Joe Mustang and his H model, fact or not I don't know.

I know, just like repainting a Magnum or Liberty. I never will forget the 300 demonstrator F model our local dealer had. It was so cool to see a F model that wasn't green or red. We were one of the last to get it for a week, then it went to the paint shop for a nice green paint job and into the Nelson fleet it went. I doubt if I get the one Randy had. He's wanting way too much for what it is.Only chance I'd have is if Randy gets it back,he likes to trade. -

It's for sale again. I tried to buy it from Randy, but was a day late, worse part about it it's been painted. -
Sending 3 of my "flock" off to their new home in Michigan tomorrow .Got home about 5 tonite and got them all hauled out to solid ground in the driveway by 8:30. Little softer out in the back 40 than I would have liked it,but the old RD mudded through the tough spots without getting stuck. Those leaving are my 3 early B series Macks,'30's vintage BF and BG tractors, and 1940 BX, former State of Iowa dump truck Had to do a little tree trimming to get the BF free from its spot, but other than that, all went pretty well. They are going to a good home and will be welcomed by several other early B series already in his collection. I'll try to get more pics in a.m. when we load them out. It got dark on me before I got pics of the BX getting hauled out. Oh by the way, though I'm losing 3,I'm gaining another, this truly golden item. It don't look like much to most, but I'm tickled to death just to find one.

Even the junk ones bring a good price, there's a place in IL that will take the step and filler neck from a junk one and build a new tank.

does it have the filler panels between the cab and fenders? -
Didn't hunt any eggs today, instead I moved a few things around and unloaded the B71 I hauled last Sat.. Then I finally got my Craigslist Cruiseliner home, been sitting up the road at the truckstop all winter because it was,too muddy to unload at home. It just fit on the rollback, good thing I didn't have far to go Then I was going to try and get my other storage trailer fished out of the field, used the rollback to pick the front up and swung it around so I could hook up easier, put new planks under the dollies and decided I better let it get a little firmer, cut some pretty good ruts in the plowed field.

I've always dealt with Dale Guth,he's always been super helpful.

Dan,maybe we should hold group prayer sessions,or start a support group "Mackaholics Anonymous" ,or better yet a new reality TV series, "The Mack Pickers" ? That B615 is so damn cool, looks super original and straight, congrats !! A '60's Wilson "cabbage cutter" livestock pot would look so right behind that old girl. Did you have any luck on the G model with the drom box, or that old sleeper I sent you the link to?? -
Don't have the patience to be in the wrecker business,I'll leave that to the pro's.
-
I kinda lucked out on the wrecker, my scrapper buddy that bought the estate out was going to keep it,take the 750 off and make it back into a tractor. He got to looking it over and it was going to be a major undertaking to remove the bed, they way it was attached to the truck so he decided to get rid of it. When I was down there picking up the B71,he told me to look it over and if I wanted it he'd cut me a deal,no cash, just trade for scrap weight.
-
I'm hoping it will run, been sitting since the old boy died,5 or 6 yrs. I think. Good ol'237,it should fire right up.
