  1. This is a good topic. I remember seeing pics of this B model, too, but don't know it's whereabouts either. There's a few B models, and other Macks too as far as that goes, that have seemed to disappear that I'd like to know where they went. There are 2 that I think of quite often. One was a black B61 with a '48 in. Double Eagle sleeper. The guy that built it was from Toledo,Iowa. It had a 8V92 430 hp Detroit,13 speed and Freightliner air ride. From all outward appearances it looked like a regular old B61,but it had the big Detroit stuffed in it. He did louvre the hood and fender access panels for additional cooling. It was Tractor of the month in Overdrive sometime in the early '80's and made at least one appearance at Walcott in '84. The other was an metallic olive green B61 with partially painted the rest polished Mercury sleeper,237 Maxidyne powered,15 speed Triplex, dual stacks, all aluminum 24.5 wheels, interior was button tucked and lots of chrome. It was either owned by someone in Sully,Iowa or pulled for Sully Transport, then sold to a cattle hauler from Edwardsville,IL,thats when I got to know it.The same guy also had a Magnum MH. It was a sharp truck, unfortunately I never got a single pic.Last time I saw it was around 1987 heading into Omaha.
  2. That's what I remembered too,Ernie. I'd love to find one of those with overdrive.
  3. I've seen that B model for sale somewhere before. I remember the winch
  4. What Jim said. Very popular in the '60's for highway trucks.
  5. my money is on a Duplex. If I remember right, the compound stick for both the lo hole and overdrive versions of the old style 6 speed was closest to the driver.
  6. I know I ain't real close, but I got a bunch of the 4 inch straps and 2 or 3 Merritt alum. headache racks to pick from.. I'd make you a good deal on them.
  7. no bids until the closing minutes, sold for $2325.
  8. wonder where? had a WalMart driver from IL call quite awhile back looking for a B61.Told him I had a "few" but he never did come look.
  9. Buy it and have one of each.
  10. hang in there,we are behind you no matter what happens
  11. me either
  12. Just a little warning,I bought another after my 1st burnt,then another,& another,&another & another.......................................................................get the idea?
  13. That sucks. Hope he wasn't hurt and hope someone get the truck that can get some good of whats left.
  14. CHU613 with a MP8-505,they probably try and talk you into a Mdrive auto trans.. Personally I'd go with a Eaton 13 or 15.
  15. nope, that 6 speed will serve you well.
  16. Well,I saw a 3408 refitted in a Western F model, never in a R though,it mite fit.Personally,I'd go with a 8V92 Detroit if I wanted to stay with a V8 to repower it., I don't think you will have to worry, though, that 865 will hang in there if you take care of it.
  17. are parts any better to find for those ? Sure more expensive I'd bet by far
  18. put a Bulldog on the hood,at least
  19. That F is way,way too classy for the few thin pages that now gets passed off as Overdrive. They really should change their slogan to " The Voice of the Steering Wheel Holder that finshed training last week". Good thing a subscription to it is free, cause they'd never sell one magazine anymore.
  20. I was wondering the same thing
  21. Wow,that sold well.
  22. 1963 Mack log truck, pretty sure it was a B75 or B753 from the looks of it, said engine was rebuilt but had cracked block from freezing, sheet metal looked excellent, long w.b. budd wheels, was in NM. $1500
  23. too late already sold. That cheap I hope a scrapper didn't grab it.
  24. it wasn't at South Bend
