Made my first actual revenue earning trip today with old Black Dog,my rollback.Hauled this dead 450 IH tractor from Niota,IL to the consignment auction in Mt. Pleasant,IA. A guy I haul corn for just started working for this auction company, and said he would have several hauling jobs for me,so this mite pay off afterall. Coming into Ft. Madison off the old RR bridge.Crookedest bridge I've ever seen, they don't let tractor/trailers on it anymore.Been alot of mirrors lost on it over the years. Super clean old tiltcab Chevy and a Detroit powered firetruck gonna be on the auction this Thurs.,the 11th.This old Cat,too.Lots of old tractors, and tons of newer stuff. Then on the way home,I picked this up,another save from the scrapper,1984? RS688LST Valueliner,2 valve 350,13 speed .good solid cab and doors, hood needs some work.Radiator is shot, thats why it got parked,I was told.

V8 gas,not sure yet which one,the one my Grandpa had that I learned to drive on was a C750 and had a 391,so I would think its at least that big, it has a 5 speed with 2 speed rear and Neway air tag,it will run,but needs some rewiring and a radiator.

Happy passengers, all watered down and ready to ride Bullhauler backup alarm What's the best thing to do on one of the hottest days of the year, clean out a corn bin of course. Remember the red '77 R model I sold a month or so back? Turned out pretty good, can't wait to see it with the grain box installed Picked up the old C800 Ford that donated it's box to the R model today, another orphan for my back 40 The guy swapping the box over had this CS race toter sitting there at his shop looks like it's been parked for awhile .

Chicago R models

About the R model with the T800 grille, that don't look too shabby. Does anybody remember the grille kits for R models you could get in the mid to late '80's . Can't remember who made them, but they looked like a smaller Superliner grille. I've got part of one somewhere in my inventory. -
Vlad, that is a 1953 IH LD405 "Westcoaster". It belongs to our SE IA ATHS chapter president Dick Boyd. There was a nice write up on Dick and his truck in Wheels of Time recently. He actually still runs it on the road spring thru fall, pulling a flatbed and runs all over the US. It's been repowered with a Big Cam Cummins, and he put newer IH airride rears under it when he stretched it from a single axle. I'm not sure what trans. he has in at this time,as it's been thru several,he started with the original 4x3,then replaced the 4 with a 5 speed, then the 3 speed shucked out,so he put in a 2 stick 4x4 married box.It didn't last long,so he put in a 9 speed and later added the back box from a 13,but it started giving trouble too,so I think he's back to a 9 speed now.

Spent last Wed. thru Labor Day hauling to and attending the annual show in Mt. Pleasant. Had a nice turn out of trucks, and I heard the tractor count was 987. This is probably the biggest show of its kind in the US and draws people from all over the US and other points. There's something for everyone. Trucks, cars, tractors and implements, hit and miss engines, trains, steam engines, horses, crafts, antiques, flea markets, food, entertainment of all kinds. Hauling in tractors G model shined up and ready to go Lined up for the daily noon parade Lots of girls in shorts Old signs, this was an old regional freight company long out of business. The Macks at the show. Howard Dobbins '59 H67T,my '63 G73LST and making it's first public appearance,my '21 AC

sounds like the tach drive

The best and cheapest thing for you to do is sell this truck, because if you do keep and run it,you will find the rest of your yellow powered fleet no longer meets your needs and you will want to replace those trucks with Macks.
