  1. Beautiful truck, wish I had a use for it. One question, how do you keep your battery lids on? I don't see any latches.
  2. if I was the dog,I would have bit you after the first 1/4 mile and went back home
  3. you ever considered super singles? A friend of mine has 2 identical off breed red oval short slope nose day cabs with little Cats and autoshift 10 speeds, only one is on super singles, tractor and trailer, the other is running dual lo pro 22.5's. He and his brother drive them and have switched off from time to time just to check, but the one with singles gets consistantly .6 to .8 mpg better .I don't know as that would cover the extra expense of the tires and wheels, but it looks good on the quarterly IFTA report.
  4. As hard as it is,every once in awhile I gotta let one go. This old '77 R is heading out the driveway to a new home. The new owner is a friend of mine, and he's going to make a grain truck out of it for his farm, replacing a Ford. He's taking it to the paint shop first, can't wait to see it finished. He also has a CM422 grain truck.
  5. Looks to be about the same color green as my Dad's old '01 . Good luck with it,bet it's a big relief to get out of that Volvo.
  6. you'll wish you hadn't once it's gone
  7. I've got enough paying loads lined up for it that it should keep me out of trouble, I hope.
  8. I can't wait to get the rollback home, been without for going on 3 years now, thats pretty rough when you are used to having one.I've been looking but seems like they were always too high priced, too far away or they needed too much work. This one was close to home, just needs some tires, and was way within my budget, and the biggest plus of all,it's a Mack.My old one hauled alot of old trucks in,alot of scrap, plus did quite a bit of custom hauling with it,tractors, machinery, small buildings, all kinda stuff, they are so handy. I made the mistake of leaving it at my south farm unattended for a week, came back and it had been trashed, all the glass and lights busted out, radiator and battery stolen, chain cut off end of winch cable. Was always going to swap the bed onto another truck, but time never allowed, then next thing I knew, the whole damn thing came up missing. Not one dime of insurance on it either,my screw up there, just had liability. Mikey got home with the V8 Superliner,we checked it all over, put in batteries and got it to start, but it wound up to about 2500 and wouldn't shut down,we got it shut down within a couple minutes, messed with it some ore,now it won;t fire. It will hit on a minute snort of starting fluid, but dies right away. Something in the pump I guess.
  9. This one is on it's way home from Chicagoland right now. '83 RWS721,E9400 with a 2 stick 12 speed and half a Neway suspension. This one will be coming home next week,'80 RD600 kit,ENDT676 with a 5 speed and 44k rears, really heavy duty 24 ft rollback with 20,000 lb Braden hydraulic winch. I been trying to find something like this ever since my old Chevy rollback got stolen.
  10. In the case of the Hemi powered B 475 firetrucks,it was a gov't order and I'm not sure what the whole story was,but the 413 V8 was picked by Mack to use for the diehard gas power customers when they quit making their own gas engine,it was badged as the EN414 . A case of Mack offering a product the customers wanted, unlike today. Volvo would have said, tough shit, buy what we make or go buy something else,we don't care.
  11. Last call, the kid is leaving tonite to pick up other truck if anyone wants this yeller one checked out. I was going to go,too, but gotta run to Cedar Rapids and look at a R model.
  12. are you replacing the RD or adding to the fleet?
  13. Best advice I can think of is get rid of the Volvos.
  14. If anyone wants me to look this over for them,I bought the other truck and planning on picking it up this weekend.
  15. I bought this one,if anybody wants me to look the other one over for them,we are going to try to pick it up this weekend.
  16. Good to hear they went to a good home, please post some pics for us that couldn't be there.
  17. it has the small axles,so it really can't be more than 34k rated I wouldn't think
  18. you might as well get a for the right side and flip it.
  19. This is the trailer I usually pull,it's a 2008 Wilson. Waiting in line at Cargill,Beardstown,IL Getting ready to go camping,Superdog style
  20. don't know if this place sold it new or used, but this sticker was inside the door
  21. got the Autocar unloaded and took it for a ride. Sure is a funny feeling looking out front and not seeing a Bulldog,so I see a hood ornament in this trucks future if it sticks around. Old girl does run good, drives good too considering the condition of the tires. air asist steering seems to work good but its coming off if I keep it. Seems to be geared for good highway speed,I was running 50 mph in hi side of 4th For some reason the transmission is stuck in hi range broke air line I'm guessing.
