  1. As many of you know I’m restoring my B873SX tractor.Haven’t posted any pictures lately cause I’ve been a whole lot of hand sanding.Hopefully I will get the frame off to the painter in the next week or two.Where I need the help is that I have the original parts book that we have had since new my problem is that it incomplete,I brought one from Vintage books but that is also incomplete. The parts book I need is #5524.So does anyone here have the phone number for the Mack Museum, would like to see if they have the book I’m looking for, would gladly pay for it.Thank you for any help in advance. Will keep posting pictures as I make progress.
  2. I will talk with Mike this week,Tks.
  3. Do any of these yards you are talking about have heavy duty trucks? Looking for one of these.Where are they located at?
  4. I would like to have it done by June for Macumgie(sorry my spelling isn’t that great).
  5. Here’s the latest. All sand blasting is done now just doing some hand sanding.I am hoping to have her in the paint booth by late January. Will keep you all posted.
  6. Happy Thanksgiving to all,I’ll keep all in my prayers.
  7. I finally decided not to separate the frame from the bogies.Talking to someone that has done it before telling me how intense of a job it is.So I got all the sandblasting done, now I’m just about done with the hand sanding.Hopefully on Monday a fellow will come down and give me a price to paint the whole project. Will post some pictures tomorrow.
  8. We used to rent McHugh’s trailer from time to time. They were really nice people.
  9. Joe,reading what you have said makes me rethink about doing this job.I really don’t have to do it,it would just make the paint that much better. You mentioned double frame trucks well mine is triple frame,so I can just think of the headaches I may be getting into.I was going to paint the frame and rearend myself and have a real painter do the cab, hood, fenders and all the stuff that you’ll see.Going to see a fellow that I may have do the frame,he has a big paint booth. It’s not that I’m afraid of hard work or just heavy lifting it’s that I had a heart attack a year ago and dealing with kidney stones and passing blood.Doc doesn’t want me to be doing any lifting. That the good thing of having my shop not at the house, between my wife and daughter I don’t know who’s worse.I will keep you all posted.
  10. No it spent it life here in Philadelphia. It was always parked inside the first 20 years or so.
  11. Looking for a glovebox door (tan color) for my r model.
  12. JoeH,doing it your way the a frames as I call them will stay attached to the frame rails,my way the a frames stay attached to the rears.I’m thinking it may be easier my way.
  13. First I’ve gotta say thanks to everyone that has responded, thank you.I’m thinking that I will pull the frame and rears out of the building then spin it around and push it back in. This way the rear of truck is right at the door, that way I can use something big to pull them out.Like mattb73lt said his 58,000’s were 7,000 lbs, mine are 65,000’s.The first thing I will try today is to try and loosen them up,with some heat and the 1” airgun. If they don’t come loose I may just bag it.Tks again look forward for the pictures.
  14. Well I’m going for it.Breaking out the 1” airgun,if that doesn’t do it I’ll add a little heat to the nuts and hopefully they come off.
  15. The a frames stay attached to the bogies.I’m not talking about taking the leaf springs apart, once I remove the bogies I will be able to get everything blasted and painted.
  16. Mack’s,no removing the caps won’t do it.I have to remove the 10-1 1/2 locking nut and the 2 torque rods on top. Then I will be able to slide them out.
  17. crusieliner64, I don’t think any of the parts that may be worn out would be available.I am mostly doing this to get the paint job right.I know that no one will be crawling under the rears to look and the fifth wheel will cover most of the top but I will know.
  18. I am thinking of doing this to make the painting that much easier.Has anyone here done it before. It doesn’t look all that tough to do.My biggest concern is it has 65,000 lbs rears and canal back suspension. The truck has moved 100 ton before so I’m concerned with anything springing and not able to get it back together.
  19. Found one.Tks for the help
  20. Looking for a parts truck,B81.
