  1. Those 2 holes are for different air cleaners setup. My 2 will be block off also.We had a piece of diamond plate alum.covering these 2 hole.I haven't decided what i am going to use.I never intended to take the truck this far,but you all know one thing leads to another. My truck was a road worthly as i drove it into the shop.Like i have said before this truck has been in the family since new and i don't think it has 300,000 miles on it.Hell it never went further than 60 miles from home until the early 80's.It was always kept in the garage at nights.
  2. Here is my 79 r model
  3. RZX,I have a 79 r model also.My serial # is 33171.My father brought 20 of them.Serial # starting with 33165-33184.I still have the orignal order sheet. It has 169wb,ENT676-300 series Maxidyne 285 hp.This is the last one we have left. This truck has only 72,000 orignal miles.I willpost a picture of it when I get home.We used them all for pullingdump trailers.I can remember crossing the bridge over into NJ weighing 113,000 taking a load to the landfill. The price we paid for each one was $44,904 that was with us supplying the tires. They gave us a tire credit of $1896 on each truck.
  4. Well it been a while since I reported on my progress of my truck.I brought the cab home back in Nov. and I haven't really been able to work on it in the condition I'm in.Also with having it home I have my wife watching me like a birddog making sure I don't do anything to stupid like i would really do that.I help her put all the christmas stuff away so she left me go out to the shed for a few hours by myself.I finished up with the floor and started on the bracket that hold the aircleaner on the cab.Didn't have my air cutter home so I tried the grinder will clean it uo tomorrow with the cutter. Here's some pic.Hayyp New Years to all.
  5. That a fine looking truck, like the color combo.Looks like it needs nothing but a little ride in the county every week or so.
  6. We brought 10 u models in 79 that had that tranney,we used them to pull dump trailers.Once they got off the road with a heavy load they weren't worth a shit.
  7. Happy New Years to all.Swishy good to see you here and not on the bb at ACMOC.
  8. Use to love that white shit they call snow when I was younger and we had half of the city of Philly to plow. The longest I was on the payroll was 38 hours. If I recall that week I had something like 102 hours, that was when the blizzard of 78 hit.I used to take one of our 16G graders out and run up and down Rt1 in Philly all day and night. So if I don't ever see another GD snowflake again it will be too soon.
  9. Joe does that truck have a fuel & air switch?Does it smoke much?
  10. Joe,i would think if you check changed all the mech things like filters and so worth i would say it has to do with the computor or an electric gisbott on the truck. You may end up going to the dealer.
  11. Sorry to hear about your troubles superdog,I onow how it feels.Been having troubles with diverticlous(infection in colon)for about 2 years,it came to a head back in july, had the bag puy on was supposed to have it reverse in oct. That operation didn't go as plan had to have the bag for another 3 months.Having it remove jan 9 2014.I'll keep you in mythroughts.GetWell soon
  12. Truck looks GREAT,good luck with it.
  13. They tell me there's only one person out in harrisburg that looks at the 4 photos when you send them in for antique or classic tags. They gave me alittle problem when I wanted antique tags for my 79 r model,I had to paint it before they would issue them.I was going to paint it anyhow, once i did that they could't have given me the tag any quicker.I think they may have throught it was to nice to be considered as a antique,it only had 70,000 orignal miles on it.
  14. I've had a class A since I was 18 years old.My brother wanted to get his CDL about 6 m0nths ago,I had to go with him to drive the truck to the Penndot facillty. We had my 79 R model all I had to do to the truck was to have it inspected(which was no problem). The thing I don't get with Penndot is if you don't speak or understand the ENGLISH language you can have someone there that does next to you while you take the test.I think if they gave a skills test to every truck driver you would be shock at how many couldn't pass the test.I was dropping a load off at a power plant in Reading PA that was 15wide and my total weight was 202,000.The reason I'm telling you this is that there was 3 otr drivers there that could not back into the loading dock,I had to do it for the 3 of them, meanwhile they asked me where I was going to put my load, they were shock when I put it in the forth and last loading dock.
  15. 220cummins are you doing drugs, your truck is worth every bit of $22,000-25,000.I'm in the middle of restoring my family 1964 B873SX tractor. My father ordered it new and it has been in the family ever since.I'm not going to do the job you did on your truck because I want it to have some of the work faver still in it.Some of the small dings I'm leaving in it.By looking at your pictures you have taken all the dings and dents out, your is better then it left the Mack factory. If that was my truck and someone offered me any less then the 25 I would show them the door, cause when you sell it to him all he is going to do is to turn around and flip the truck for what it's really worth. If I was in the case of looking for another truck and I could get it for less then 25,000 yours would be the truck I'ld buy.My vote would be to keep it and if you really want to sell it take it to some shows and see what kind of bites you get.I wouldn't put a price on it,let the buyer be both the buyer and seller.Remember it's not costing you money by jist sitting there.Just my 2cents worth.
  16. As long as your MH has antique tags on it you will not need a CDL,or it will not have to have a state inspection sticker on it.I only have a inspection sticker on my 79 r model was so my brother could take his CDL test in the truck.
  17. I have my 1979 R model Mack with antique tags here in PA.Insurance cost are about $150 ayear.I am allowed to haul my own stuff. You don't need a cdl, truck doesn't need to be inspected and you don't have to carry a driver log.Good Luck, where about in Harrisburg are u I get out there once in a while.
  18. I would add my to it.
  19. This truck has no radio,i'm thinking it the accessory soilord on the breaker panal is bad.
  20. This truck has only 72,000 orignal miles,it been in our family since new.My dad brought 20 of them, they were used to pull dump trailers.
