  1. Maddog,I have done what you said about taking off the bat. cable from the terminal and it does spark,so I do have a draw.I am going to try what Jhancock said to do.Will let you all know when I have done this, hopefully will be done on Friday. Thanks for the help. Mike
  2. You wouldn't have a part # for them? I doubt my Mack dealer would have them.If shipping wouldn't be all that much I may have your dealer send me a pair or two.Would you give me his number so I can give him a call. Thanks for any help.Mike Durkin
  3. It seems everytime I let the old girl sit for a week or more the batteries go dead.Any comments. Thanks
  4. Someone get the the right address and I will hunt them down.Hell Newark is only 1.5 hours away,I need a road trip.
  5. Good luck, been 27 years for me this coming Feb.I went from smoking 3+ packs aday to nothing in about a week.Doctor told me I was starting with something in the mouth that I really didn't want so he told me to quit or I would be looking at a feeding tube one day.
  6. I had the same problem with my 79 rmodel. It turned out to be low on coolant. It has to be either the coolant leval or oil leval.Hell if your truck was newer it could be anything from you either gaining or losing weight to just about anything. These newer trucks have more sensors then anything.A friend of mine has a JD lawn tractor that has something like 7 or 8 safety sensor on it.The damm thing shuts off everytime he runs it hard on a hot day.
  7. Does anyone know what boneyard those trucks are in?Would like to see if they are worth bringing back to life.
  8. We had afuel truck that was a 69 r model that had that dash. That truck did nothing but run and run everyday.I can't remember it ever breaking down.Sorry to say but I think it took a boat ride.We sold it to a fellow out on Newark,NJ that did alot of exporting. He also brought our 3 rmodel dump we had.The 3 dumps all had around 80,000 orignal miles on them.Other then the cabs being rusted they were great trucks.
  9. Did they ever convert the DM800 tractor of ours into the wrecker?
  10. I think Highpoint had one of our old DM800 tractors. It was equiped with the mack v8,tri-axle.The year was 1975 we had brought it new back then.It never could do the work of the truck it was supposed to have replaced, that was a 1964 B873sx that I'm restoring now.
  11. Rich, whose name is on the door of that R model.I think I've seen that truck around the Phila area. It ment be from one of the sod company over in NJ.
  12. Does the steering box on a b87 come out through the top or bottom?
  13. First to work on a Mack you got to throw the smart phone out and grab the wrenches. The older Mack are just like anything else that has age they are simple to work on.
  14. Well said.
  15. Welcome,we all love pic.
  16. That's a great video.Wish Pa would have done that when we were working.I never had a problem with the state police stopping us,they were more help then anything. It was the local police that was the problem, they go to a week long class about moving heavy load and all a sudden they knew everything there was to know about moving oversize loads.
  17. Is that the orignal trans in it?My truck has that same radiator tank as that one. That was an extra back then.
  18. Thanks, you wouldn't have any info on either the truck or the owner.
  19. I am looking for Jamied625,he took and posted a picture of a B87SX that was at the Gerhart show this past Oct.I am looking to see who owns this truck since i am redoing my own B873SX tractor.Would just like to talk withe fellow. Thanks
  20. Sorry I miss the show this year,I was recovering from stomach surgery. Was hoping to have my B873SX done for the show well maybe next year.
  21. That a good size load.If they were only permitted for 130,000 then they are f-----.I move our Cat 375 with the boom and counterweight still intacted and I tilted the scale at 210,000.My permit was only good for 200,000,down here in PA if you go over 204,000 they would make you get a supersize permit, just alot more bs and money.I left in early morning around 3am and made it to where I was going by 6am.Had only a couple of state tropers wave as they went by.By the way I had a 4 axle Mack CL700 with a 4axle talbert. We did have a 75 ton Rodgers lowboy that had 4 axles and 12-00x24 rubber that was sold to someone up in NY state.I got a call from a fellow about 3 years ago and he wanted to know if we were missing a lowboy, our lettering was showing through on the gooseneck.
  22. Are these boxes made to be removed from the bottom or top. By the looks of things it is easier to remove from dropping out the bottom. Thanks for any comments.
  23. Well while I'm still recovering from my last surgery I throught I'ld bring my cab for the B87 home and put in the shed,so I can work on it there.I have heat and all the comforts of home there not like the shop.I'm going to sand the cab inside and out all down and get it ready for paint.I have a few holes to weld up that were used to hold the cb and so forth. Will post some pic of it this coming week.
